IJM extends sustainability winning streak, bags three at CSR Malaysia Awards
In a statement, IJM said the company's commitment to responsible highway management and impactful community engagement was recognised with two significant awards for its managed highways.
Lebuhraya Kajang-Seremban (LEKAS) was named Company of the Year for highway management, community and social care, while Lebuhraya Baru Pantai (NPE) received the Company of the Year for highway management, sustainability and community care award.
Among NPE's key initiatives was the IJM Allianz Duo Highway Challenge 2024, aimed at promoting active lifestyles and encouraging safer, healthier community interaction with toll highways.
Meanwhile, LEKAS was lauded for its role in organising the RHB LEKAS Highway Ride 2024 and supporting the Paralympic Council Malaysia's TambahEMAS Paris 2024 Campaign, which contributes to the development of national para-athletes.
IJM toll division chief executive officer Wan Salwani Wan Yusoff was also honoured with the Asia Sustainability Personality Award (ESG Leadership) for her outstanding leadership and contributions to Malaysia's socio-economic transformation.
She had previously received the Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Malaysia Personality of the Year (ESG Leadership Award) in 2024.
Wan Salwani said sustainability is integral to its business strategy and critical for IJM's long-term success and nation-building efforts.
She said the company's initiatives across Besraya, NPE, and LEKAS Highways are designed to create shared value, from promoting healthy lifestyles to uplifting underprivileged communities and supporting national athletes.
"We recognise that continuous engagement with our stakeholders – communities, government, employees, and partners – is essential in driving meaningful impact," she added.
The awards, judged by a panel of corporate and social leaders, recognise impactful and transparent CSR initiatives advancing Malaysia's sustainability agenda.

Mah Sing expands M Series with M Aurora in Old Klang Road
KUALA LUMPUR: Mah Sing Group Bhd is extending its successful M Series into Old Klang Road with the launch of M Aurora, a freehold serviced residence aimed at delivering smart, sustainable, and attainable city living. Positioned to replicate the success of its fully sold M Oscar project in Sri Petaling, M Aurora is designed to appeal to first-time buyers and urban upgraders seeking modern, well-connected homes at accessible price points. M Aurora is a transit-oriented development. It is situated on a 2.12-hectare plot and is estimated to have a gross development value of RM660 million. The land was acquired last year for RM112.97 million. In a statement, Mah Sing said the development will carry forward the M Series hallmark features—strategic location, modern design, smart home elements, and value-driven pricing—attributes that have consistently resonated with urban homebuyers. Old Klang Road is one of the Klang Valley's most connected corridors, offering direct access to major highways including the Federal Highway, NPE, KESAS, MEX, LDP, and Salak Highway. The upcoming MRT3 Circle Line, located just 2.5 km away and expected to be completed by 2032, is set to further enhance rail connectivity and bolster long-term property values in the area. Mah Sing noted that Old Klang Road is increasingly attracting single professionals and small families working in or near the city centre, with high-rise living offering convenience, security, and low-maintenance lifestyles. M Aurora has also secured provisional GreenRE Silver certification, reinforcing Mah Sing's commitment to sustainable development through eco-conscious design and energy-efficient planning. KVMRT3 missing from 13MP, but sector still poised for strong growth
THE huge development expenditure allocated to the 13MP ought to translate into many meaningful construction jobs from 2026-2030 even without KVMRT3. Notable 'megaprojects' in the 13MP are port related, from which Muhibbah Engineering, IJM and WCT ought to benefit. Other notable projects involve water, flood mitigation, industrial parks, highways, roads and hospitals, from which IJM, Gamuda and WCT ought to benefit the most. Cahya Mata Sarawak gets a special mention too. We were positively surprised by the MYR611 bil development expenditure (DE) allocated to the 13MP. Although only MYR430 bil will be financed by the government, it is still 8% higher than the MYR400 bil DE allocated to the 12MP. This bids well for the construction sector in terms of the number and value of jobs to be awarded from 2026 to 2030. Recall that the 12MP DE of MYR400 bil was 54% higher than the 11MP DE of MYR260 bil. Thus, we believe the 13MP is positive for the Malaysian construction industry. We were rather underwhelmed that the KVMRT3 line was not mentioned in the 13MP despite positive vibes 2 weeks ago. Recall that KVMRT1 and KVMRT2 yielded huge jobs of MYR21 bil and MYR31 bil respectively. Other projects mentioned like the East Coast Rail Link, Gemas-Johor Bahru Double Track, Iskandar Region Elevated Autonomous Rapid Transit and Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit Project have been well flagged with the former 2 in advanced stages of completion. Carey Island cargo port, Westports 2 expansion and Port of Tanjung Pelepas expansion were mentioned. We estimate that they could avail a whopping MYR45.5 bil worth of jobs. Potential beneficiaries of the port 'megaprojects' are Muhibbah Engineering, IJM and WCT. Other than ports, the 13MP also mentioned many potential water, flood mitigation, industrial parks, highway and road and hospital projects. We flag 18 potential beneficiaries, which is by no means exhaustive. In our view, potential beneficiaries which are likely to benefit the most from the aforementioned projects are IJM, Gamuda and WCT. These three companies have the experience and expertise to construct most of the aforementioned infrastructure assets. We also flag Cahya Mata Sarawak as a prime beneficiary of continued infrastructure investments in Sarawak. —Aug 1, 2025 Main image: Bernama
