Mercedes ‘ploughs into crowd' after fight in pub car park as two men arrested
A Mercedes has 'ploughed into a crowd' after a violent bust-up outside a pub spiralled into chaos - with two men arrested and a car park gate left in ruins.
The shocking incident unfolded just before 11:20pm on August 1, when police were called to the Oxton Bar and Kitchenon on Claughton Firs, Oxton, following reports of an 'ongoing disturbance'. According to Merseyside Police, two men had attempted to flee the pub's car park in a Mercedes, but not before the vehicle caused 'significant damage' to the exit gate. One of the men is then said to have got into a fight with another group, escalating the situation further.
The car - with one of the suspects inside - was then reportedly driven away and is believed to have crashed into multiple members of the public. Police say no injuries have been reported so far. The second man is thought to have fled the scene on foot.
Officers have arrested two men, aged 21 and 26, both from Wirral. The car has also been recovered. The 21-year-old is being held on suspicion of s18 grievous bodily harm with intent, five counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink, failing to stop after a road accident and affray.
The 26-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of six counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, driving while unfit through drink, failing to stop after a road accident, criminal damage and affray. Detective Inspector Sarah Wilkinson said: 'We know the Oxton Bar and Kitchen would have been busy last night and believe a number of people would have witnessed or been involved in this incident. 'At this stage no-one has come forward to police to report they were injured.
"Enquiries are also being carried out with hospitals in the local area but as yet we have not identified anyone who may have been involved. I would ask anyone who was at the bar last night and was either directly involved or witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to us.'

'After carrying out the killing, the offenders ignored the cries of a toddler upstairs as they poured petrol around the house and set fire to it. 'Their callous and reckless actions could have claimed the lives of two more people that night, had they not escaped the flames by jumping from a window upstairs.' Merseyside Police are 'as determined as ever' to get justice for Ms Hargreaves, Mr Rubbery said. Her death 'robbed her family of a loving mother and daughter', he said. Parle, who was believed to be living abroad, was also wanted in connection with the murder of Liam Kelly, 16, who was shot in the early hours of 19 June 2004 in Dingle, Liverpool.

Urgent hunt for naked man prowling in front of homes in a gimp mask
The UK has yet another naked man wearing only a gimp mask on the loose. Ring Doorbell owners were shocked to find a nude man prowling around in front of their cameras on Westby Street, Cleveland Road and Bannister Street in Lytham, Lancashire, in the early hours of July 18. Lancashire Police said: 'We are aware of a concerning video circulating on social media of a naked male wearing a face covering walking around Lytham in the early hours of the morning. 'This incident was not initially reported to police and has only been brought to our attention after it has been viewed on Facebook. 'Fylde Rural Task Force are currently conducting CCTV and house to house enquiries and would like to reassure you that we are taking this matter seriously. 'We can confirm this incident occurred on the 18th July 2025 at approximately 00:50 hours, not on the 31st July as suggested by a recent anonymous Facebook post.' It comes just a few weeks after 'Pantherman' was spotted quite literally prowling around gravestones in Merseyside. A person dressed in a catsuit has been terrorising locals after being spotted stalking people along secluded paths and reportedly leaping out from behind gravestones. The mysterious figure, dressed in a skin-tight black cat suit and mask, was captured on camera meowing and writhing on the ground near Wallasey Beach, Merseyside. Footage shows the person wriggling under a fence near a Harvester pub in the Wirral before prancing along a path. Another video shows people in a car screaming as the figure approaches close by. Residents claim he resembles a 'banshee,' 'urban jaguar' and even a 'gimp' and locals like Abbie Gilbert have said the community are trying to hunt 'him or it' down.
