This Morning huge shake-up revealed as major stars step back from ITV show

Daily Mirror3 days ago
This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley have confirmed on to viewers on Thursday's episode of the show that their time is up for the summer as they prepare for a break
Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley have confirmed that they are stepping down from This Morning for the summer. The duo were unveiled as replacements for long-serving hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the ITV magazine show more than a year ago, and tend to front four episodes on a weekly basis. But during a handover from sister show Lorraine, Cat confirmed that they will be taking a break for the summer.

Cat told Lorraine that it was to be their "last show this morning" before Ben confirmed that they will be having "all summer" off. But it was on with the show as usual as the titles rolled, and Cat teased viewers that there was "plenty to look forward to" over the coming two-and-half hours. The pair explained to fans that they are set to explore the secrets of anti-ageing, and that three TikTok witches would be on the sofa as well.

Cat and former Good Morning Britain host Ben took the reins from Holly and Phillip last year. Phillip's departure came after revelations of his "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger colleague, while Holly left months later for personal reasons. At the time, several pairs of presenters were tested out before Cat and Ben got the gig.
The duo's announcement comes just days after This Morning bosses confirmed that the line up for the summer includes the likes of Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond - who have often provided cover for Ben and Cat on Fridays and in school holidays - as well as other relief presenters such as Joel Dommett, Emma Willis, Andi Peters, Craig Doyle, Rylan Clark, Sian Welby and Josie Gibson.
The show's Instagram account posted: "This summer, get ready for the best staycation ever! Holiday from home as some of our favourite faces come together to entertain you. From sofa to sun lounger, brighten up your mornings with our all-star line up this summer on This Morning."

Sian expressed her excitement in the comments, saying "Can't wait," while Alison replied with "Yay". Love Island star Olivia Attwood has also joined the team for the summer, and recently told Closer: ""Everyone's been so welcoming." She added: "The whole team's been lovely, and I'm just excited to get stuck in and learn from people I really admire. When touching on who she'd love to present with the most, Olivia, who is also a regular panellist on Loose Women, said: "If I ever get to host with Alison, I'm so sure we'd just laugh for two hours straight. Probably three."
This Morning's summer plans come just weeks after it emerged that Lorraine will be condensed to 30 minutes, airing from 9:30am to 10am for 30 weeks of the year on a seasonal basis.

In its place, Good Morning Britain will be extended to three and a half hours, and four hours when Lorraine is off the air, in what has been a host of changes in scheduling for the channel.
Loose Women will also be reduced to a 30-week schedule, similar to its pre-2016 format. These changes are set to take effect from January 2026.
Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, stated: "Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres."

Kelly Clarkson joined onstage by daughter River Rose, 11, for song during Vegas show

Kelly Clarkson's daughter, River Rose, joined the star on stage for a surprise performance during her Las Vegas residency on Friday. The 43-year-old singer and the 11-year-old thrilled fans while performing a duet at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The sweet mother-daughter duo sang Clarkson's 'Heartbeat Song' while wearing matching bedazzled t-shirts and bell bottom pants in a video shared on X. Kelly and River were seen swaying together while holding microphones. At one point the proud mom hugged her daughter, whom she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, 48. The pair also had a son Remington Alexander Blackstock, nine. The fan who posted the clip revealed that Clarkson told the audience before the duet: 'So my daughter River Rose said to me, "I wanna sing tonight!"' Clarkson and her daughter previously performed the song together during a Las Vegas concert in August 2023. At the time the singer noted that River had been 'jamming out to the song since she was a baby.' She added that her daughter 'loves this song so much.' The performer announced her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace earlier this year in February. It came after she hosted a residency at Planet Hollywood Resort from 2023-2024. This year's residency had been slated to kick off on Fourth of July followed by another performance the next day. Clarkson officially kicked off her much-awaited Vegas residency last Friday - just one week after angering fans by canceling shows last minute. Along with performing hits for the crowd, the star also apologized for canceling the opening two shows of her residency. In a TikTok video taken by a concertgoer, Clarkson expressed, 'Man, I'm so sorry if some of y'all had [tickets to] last weekend's shows. 'I'm so sorry. We can't help our bodies sometimes, and that happens, but thank you for showing up. We're so excited.'

Newlywed Charli XCX reveals emotional husband George Daniel cried as they tied the knot in intimate ceremony before sharing glimpse of couple's wild afterparty

Charli XCX has revealed emotional husband George Daniel cried during their intimate wedding at Hackney Town Hall on Saturday. The Brat singer, 32, exchanged vows with The 1975 star, 35, in front of 20 of their closest family and friends, including the groom's bandmates Adam Hann and Ross MacDonald, however frontman Matty Healy was noticeably absent. Later taking to TikTok Charli showed off her leggy Vivienne Westwood wedding dress, which she teamed with shades and strutted into view before turning on her heels and exiting. She joked: 'When George isn't crying when he sees me walking down the aisle' only to reassure followers in the caption that the drummer 'luckily did'. The 360 hitmaker also shared a glimpse of the couple's wild afterparty which saw her changing into a second white dress as she celebrated her newlywed status with pals. Larking around George modelled his new wife's veil while puffing on a cigarette and showcasing his buff physique beneath an open silk shirt. The gang partied and danced the night away to Charli's track Like a G6, captioning the clip: 'Bridal party energy!'. On her big day Charli was the epitome of style in the white mini dress which boasted a plunging boat neckline and draped detailing that she wore with a traditional veil. Slipping her feet into Jimmy Choo heels, the stunner styled her long raven tresses loose and carried a bouquet of white flowers. Meanwhile George wore a dark double breasted suit over a light open collared shirt with a flower, that matched his wife's bouquet, in his button hole. The newlyweds posed for sweet snaps with the songstress' proud parents Jon and Shameera Aitchison. It turns out bandmate Matty was in LA for the screening of I Know What You Did Last Summer, in which his fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel stars in. On Friday evening, the singer was spotted arriving at the venue dressed in a leather jacket over a white top with a red lightning bolt, paired with blue jeans. Matty, who has been linked to Gabbriette since September 2023, appeared in good spirits as he left his vehicle and headed into the event. Thankfully the groom was blown away by Charli's stunning look MailOnline has contacted George and Matty's representatives for comment. Despite his absence Matty reportedly attended his pal's stag do earlier this week which took place in Ibiza. According to The Sun, the drummer and frontman Matty, 36, flew out to the party island on Tuesday for a short but wild getaway. Its also been revealed that the couple seemingly carried the low key theme into the bride's wedding ring which has been valued at relatively modest £10K, despite the newlywed's reported £10M fortune. The band seemingly boasts a bold twisted, overlapping design and in platinum it perfectly matches her engagement ring, which is worth £15K. Laura Taylor from Lorel Diomands told MailOnline: 'Charli's wedding band is where she's really made it her own. Rather than going for a traditional band to sit next to the solitaire, or even an eternity band like we're seeing with other celebrities, she's chosen something much bolder'. 'It's chunky and very different to the delicate bands you usually see paired with solitaires. We are starting to see more celebrities choosing bold rings this year, like Dua Lipa and her chunky engagement ring'. 'I'd estimate Charli's wedding band to be worth around £8,000 to £10,000, depending on the designer. 'The choice fits perfectly with the rest of her wedding look, as she wore a short white dress and sunglasses to her ceremony, skipping the usual formal bridal style. By pairing a classic engagement ring with a heavier, statement wedding band, Charli's showing you don't have to follow the usual rules. It's a really good example of how you can incorporate your own personal style.'

American in UK blown away after trying sticking toffee pudding for first time

When it comes to desserts, there's a number of British classics and sticky toffee pudding is one of them. An American man who relocated to the UK has shared his first time trying it Sticky toffee pudding is a traditional British dessert made up of a moist sponge cake soaked in a rich toffee sauce and is often served with vanilla custard. The cake is typically filled with dates that add sweetness and moisture to the pudding. ‌ This famous English dessert can be found throughout the UK but it is particularly popular in the Lake District and the village of Cartmel, where it is thought to have been created. Russell, a man from Chicago, United States, who moved to the UK, shares travel, culture and food reviews on TikTok. He recently posted a video on the platform about his first time trying sticky toffee pudding. ‌ The American expat headed to Heavenly Desserts in Liverpool, which he observed to be a sit down restaurant just for desserts. ‌ Russell was 'very excited to see what they have.' He walked into the upmarket dessert cafe with branches across the UK and took a look at the menu. The food reviewer spotted the 'very tasty looking drinks' and opted for a cherry blossom and lychee seltzer and a passion fruit mojito. He firstly took a sip of the seltzer and found it 'so good' but he enjoyed the mojito even more. ‌ Russell said: 'The passion fruit mojito absolutely finessed my taste buds. It was so hot today, perfect refresher.' After cooling down with the beverages, he moved onto dessert and had his first ever sticky toffee pudding. He got it with custard, realising that 'this seems to be the British way.' The foodie doused the pudding in custard and then had his first spoonful. ‌ Russell exclaimed: 'Woah! It's like a sticky brownie. This is such a unique flavour.' He added: 'Also, I am officially in love with drowning anything I eat in custard. At this point I'm just eating spoonfuls of custard.' The American expat's TikTok video has garnered 154,000 views, 14,500 likes and more than 200 comments, at the time of writing. ‌ One user said: 'I love sticky toffee pudding, but I'm not a fan of custard. I'd rather have ice cream or cream.' Another fan of the classic British dessert shared: 'Sticky toffee pudding is one of my all time favourite desserts.' A third declared: 'Sticky toffee pudding is THE BEST dessert EVER!' Someone else suggested not to go to 'upscale places' if you want to try 'real British food' and go somewhere that has a more comfortable, homely atmosphere instead. Sticky toffee is a warm, comfort food that can be found at pubs, restaurants, hotels and some cafes. It can also be made at home by following recipes from celebrity chefs, including Gordon Ramsay, James Martin and Mary Berry, as well as the food writer and TV cook Nigella Lawson.
