British mountaineer says K2 challenge is ‘one of the world's toughest'
Located on the border of Pakistan and China, K2 has a reputation for being extremely challenging to climb because of its steep slopes, avalanches and unpredictable weather.
Mr Rahman, based in Oldham, Greater Manchester, is attempting to climb the 14 highest peaks in the world.
He started out in climbing by scaling Snowdon in Wales in 2019.
In 2020, Mr Rahman climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and Mont Blanc within a week and, later that year, he broke the UK record for climbing Russia's Elbrus – Europe's tallest mountain – after reaching the summit in less than 24 hours.
In 2022, he became the first British Muslim to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world's tallest mountain.
He has raised more than £1 million for charity during his mountaineering career.
Mr Rahman said compared with other mountains, K2 is 'one of the world's toughest'.
He went on: 'When I discovered climbing, I knew I wanted to keep challenging myself by summiting more and more mountains.'
Luke Broad, UK brand director for car manufacturer Dacia, which is providing funding to support Mr Rahman's K2 attempt, said: 'Dacia is a brand with outdoor spirit.
'There is no better way of showing our support for adventure and the great outdoors than to support Akke.
'We are really impressed with his drive and determination, so we are proud to support his next challenge.'

The club have done really well in various competitions Law and District AAC athletes have done well in various competitions across the UK. Senior athlete Liam Nolan won gold in hammer and discus at the Red Star Championships at Crownpoint in Glasgow. The club had three gold medal wins at the Calderglen Trail Races in East Kilbride, by Amelie Grant (U9s 1k), Abbie Boyle (U12s 3k) and Lucy Taylor (U15s 3k). Coach Bobby Wotherspoon completed the Mont Blanc mountain marathon. Siblings Alexander and Helena Wotherspoon joined their dad in France at the Mont Blanc Festival races, where U13 Helena won the 2013 age group in Mini Cross 4k, and U15 Alexander won the 2012 category. Jen Beattie ran the Tea and Trails 50k Ultra in Applethwaite in the Lake District, where she was fourth V40 in 8.31:53 in an ultra 53k race with 2470m elevation. Emily McNicol and Lesley Graham ran the Lairig Ghru Hill Race from Braemar to Aviemore, 43k and 640m elevation, where McNicol was first female in 3.47:43. Masters Championships and Open events were held at the Riverside Arena in Ayr, with three athletes competing in throws. V35 Helen Johnson won hammer gold with 37.09m, coach Graeme Ferguson V45 silver with 24.78m, and Liam Nolan won para with 33.10m. In javelin, Ferguson threw 24.04m, and achieved 24.53m for silver in discus, with Nolan winning para with 28.56m. In shot put, Ferguson threw 10.04 to win V45 gold. Out on track, U15 Cara Murphy won 100m and 200m para events, and M60 Fiona Steele won gold in 100m and 200m, and finished fourth in 400m. M60 Jim Gillon won gold in 400m, and V35 Christine Neill took bronze in 1500m.

Watch out black cabs! Tesla's Robotaxi has arrived in London
Tesla has begun testing its self-driving software on the streets of London, hinting at the fact its autonomous fleet of Robotaxis could make their way across the Atlantic to the UK. A new video posted on X shows a Tesla Model 3 being driven around London (almost) completely hands-free; the software shown is what Tesla describes as 'Full Self Driving (Supervised)' – or autonomous Level 2 in more official terms – meaning a person needs to sit in the driver's seat in order to take control in case of something going awry. The software also enables the car to autonomously navigate an unmapped car park using AI – much like the Autopilot 'Summon' function that's only available in the United States. Dacia's biggest, most expensive car yet has been a "very significant success"
