Skoda Kamiq gets sub-$30k drive-away deal
The MY24 Skoda Kamiq Select is being offered for $29,990 drive-away while the MY25 Kamiq Select is $33,990 drive-away.
The offer – which runs from July 1 to September 30, 2025, or while stocks last – applies to both new and demonstrator MY24 Kamiq Select examples in Candy White or Moon White metallic finishes (not the Race Blue shown here) with no additional equipment fitted.
Skoda's smallest SUV is a rival to the Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos and Toyota Corolla Cross small SUVs, and the Select kicks off the two-model grade lineup with the flagship Monte Carlo priced at $45,990 drive-away.

The current Kamiq was given a facelift in 2024, meaning the MY24 special offer includes the latest design, powertrain and equipment.
This includes an 85kW/200Nm 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with claimed fuel economy of 5.5L/100km on the combined cycle.
On the outside, the Kamiq Select features 17-inch 'Stratos' alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, front fog lamps, LED tail lights with dynamic rear indicators, front fog lights, as well as front and rear parking sensors.
With standard keyless entry and engine start, the 'Loft' interior includes cloth dashboard padding, height-adjustable front seats with lumbar support, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster.
There's a 8.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, with twin front and rear USB-C ports and an eight-speaker sound system.
The Kamiq has a five-star ANCAP safety rating, with the Select including six airbags, AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, though there's only standard cruise control instead of an adaptive system like that in the top-spec Monte Carlo.
The small SUV is the brand's second most popular model behind the Skoda Kodiaq large SUV.
However, Kamiq sales in Australia are down 42.5 per cent year-to-date in 2025, with the Skoda brand down 30.1 per cent.
Chery and GWM have also simultaneously announced promotional pricing of $29,990 drive-away for entry-level hybrid versions of the rival Tiggo 4 and Haval Jolion, respectively.
While the Kamiq Select lacks a hybrid system like those models, it nevertheless comes very close to matching them in fuel economy. It uses just 0.1L/100km more fuel on the combined cycle than the Chery, and 0.4L/100km more than the GWM.

GWM sets new sales records in Australia
GWM continues to be one of Australia's fastest growing auto brands – and the nation's favourite Chinese brand – posting its best-ever monthly sales result in June and a new record for half-year sales today. The automaker was the country's seventh best selling brand last month, and now holds the same rank in the year-to-date sales standings – up from 10 in the first six months of 2024. So far this year GWM has sold 25,189 vehicles, placing it behind only Toyota (120,978), Mazda (48,942), Ford (47,300), Kia (40,750), Hyundai (38,948) and Mitsubishi (33,379). Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now. Behind it in the top 10 are BYD (23,355), Isuzu Ute (21,883) and MG (21,674), making GWM the best-selling Chinese brand in the first half of 2025. BYD placed fifth last month with a huge sales tally in June, but it remains behind GWM in eighth so far this year, while MG was outside the top 10 in 11 last month and now lies 10 year-to-date. GWM set its highest monthly sales figure since it entered the Australian market 16 years ago in 2009 with 5464 deliveries, accounting for a record 4.5 per cent share of all new-vehicle sales – up 1.0 per cent versus June 2024. Its June result was 30.9 per cent higher than the same month last year, and a 24.4 per cent increase on the brand's previous monthly record set in March 2025. GWM sales are now up 17 per cent year-to-date in an industry that has declined by 1.3 per cent in the first six months of 2025, and it says it's on target to deliver more than 50,000 vehicles this year. Based on 2024 figures, that would see GWM rival MG as Australia's seventh most popular auto brand, behind only Toyota, Ford, Mazda, Kia, Mitsubishi and Hyundai. Last year MG sold 50,592 vehicles (down from 58,346 in 2023), but so far this year its sales are down 11.9 per cent. Last month MG sales dropped by 7.8 per cent, placing it 12th with 3896 deliveries. Meantime, Chery placed 14th in June with 3024 deliveries – up a huge 180.3 per cent on June 2024, and helping to entrench China as Australia's second largest source of new vehicles ahead of Thailand and behind only Japan. GWM attributes its sales growth to a diverse model lineup, and strong sales of both traditional combustion-powered and both hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles. New model launches for GWM in the first half of 2025 included an upgraded Cannon ute with a new diesel engine and a 3500kg towing capacity, a new diesel variant of the Tank 300 off-road SUV, the Tank 500 Vanta flagship SUV, its first PHEV in the new Haval H6 GT mid-size SUV, and the Cannon Alpha PHEV dual-cab. GWM's answer to the BYD Shark 6 found 269 buyers in June – its first month on sale – accounting for 45 per cent of total Cannon Alpha ute sales. The Tank 300 and Tank 500 off-road SUVs combined for 783 sales in June. The former recorded its strongest month since October 2023 with 630 units sold – an 84.2 per cent increase over June 2024 – and the new diesel variant now accounts for 62 per cent of Tank 300 sales. The Haval Jolion small SUV attracted a record 2000 sales in June, securing second place in its segment with 12.6 per cent share, and marking an 18.3 record increase over its previous record set in December 2024 (1691 sales) and a 26.6 per cent increase year-to-date. The Haval H6 found 1278 new homes in June as the mid-size SUV entered run-out. It was up 4.2 per cent on June 2024 and 6.0 per cent year-to-date. The updated Cannon ute arrived in February and found 1074 new homes in June, before the release of additional variants including the Premium dual-cab, Lux dual-cab/chassis, Vanta, and XSR. However, Cannon 4×4 sales are down 53 per cent so far this year with 2028 sales to June. The Ora electric hatch was the only other dark spot for GWM in June, as it found just 60 buyers (down over 47 per cent on the same month last year), to notch up just 331 sales so far this year – down more than 44 per cent on 2024. "Delivering this level of growth in a competitive and constantly evolving market is a direct reflection of the dedication shown by our dealer network, partners, and of course our GWM staff," said GWM ANZ chief operating officer John Kett. "2025 was always set to be more competitive than 2024, with new brands entering and established players refusing to yield. GWM won't be dialling back in the second half – we're maintaining EOFY pricing to reinforce our commitment to being a price accessible brand. "From July 2025, we'll also accelerate the rollout of our next-generation technology, led by innovations in HEV, Hi4, and Hi4T PHEV systems across key models like the Cannon Alpha, Haval H6, and Tank 500," said Mr Kett. GWM also says it will expand its Australian dealer network from a current 115 retailers to about 125 by the end of 2025. BYD just did something no other Chinese brand has ever done in Australia
BYD has become the first Chinese brand to crack the list of top-five best-selling auto brands in Australia. The Chinese automaker, which exclusively sells electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles, delivered 8156 new vehicles in June 2025 – a staggering 367.9 per cent increase over June 2024. It beat its existing monthly sales record of 4811 deliveries in March, and achieved a total market share of 6.4 per cent last month. The highest position previously achieved by a Chinese in Australia brand was sixth. This was achieved by MG in May 2023, when it delivered 4828 vehicles. MG fell out of the top 10 in June 2025, with 3896 deliveries, down 7.8 per cent year-on-year. It was beaten by not only BYD but also by GWM, which took seventh spot with a record 5464 deliveries (up 30.9 per cent). Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now. Also just outside of the top 10 was Chery, which surpassed 3000 monthly deliveries for the first time, reaching 3024 units – up 180.3 per cent. No brand could beat BYD's year-on-year percentage increase, however. With BYD reaching 20,458 deliveries year-to-date, it has also already beat its entire 2024 calendar year sales performance. A total of 10,424 of these – or 51 per cent – were of the Shark 6 ute. The plug-in hybrid 4×4 dual-cab, deliveries of which commenced earlier this year, was its biggest seller in June. A total of 2993 examples of the Shark 6 were delivered in June, making it Australia's fifth best-selling vehicle. Its performance saw it outsell 4×4 versions of the Isuzu D-Max, and it even came close to beating total sales of the Japanese brand's ute line – just 126 deliveries separated it from the Shark 6. The Shark 6 beat the D-Max in February, however, BYD blamed an administrative error that saw it count 450 examples which had actually been delivered in the previous month. Deliveries of the Sealion 6 mid-size PHEV SUV, introduced last year, increased by 232.8 per cent year-on-year to 1604 units. The Sealion 7 mid-size electric SUV, introduced this year, beat it with 1795 deliveries. While BYD had offers available on the Sealion 6 during June, it had none on the Sealion 7 – and yet it was the latter that was the stronger seller, out-performing the brand's own expectations. These two vehicles outsold myriad models in the mainstream medium SUV segment, placing fifth and sixth overall. That saw them fall short of the Mazda CX-5 (2582), Toyota RAV4 (2421), Hyundai Tucson (2332) and Kia Sportage (1835), but eclipse the Subaru Forester (1426), Nissan X-Trail (1344), GWM Haval H6 (1278) and Mitsubishi Outlander (1196). The three oldest BYD models in our market sold in significantly lower volumes. BYD delivered 576 Atto 3 medium electric SUVs (up 64.1 per cent), and 561 Dolphin electric hatchbacks (up 175 per cent), but Seal electric sedan sales fell by 11.2 per cent to 627 units. That was still enough to see it earn the title of second best-selling vehicle in its segment, falling just 112 units short of the Toyota Camry, deliveries of which plunged 63.3 per cent. This trio may comprise BYD's oldest models in our market, but that's relatively speaking. The Atto 3 launched here in 2022, with the Dolphin and Seal following in 2023. While June is typically a strong month for new-vehicle sales, BYD had a disproportionately strong performance. June also marked the last month of EVDirect serving as BYD's independent local importer, with the Chinese automaker taking over Australian distribution from this month. Here's how its monthly delivery figures compare with the other two top-selling Chinese brands in Australia so far this year. "There was a very concerted effort from the OEM and the distributor to make a splash, but there's no conversations about resting now. There's huge ambitions across the board," BYD Australia chief marketing officer Kate Hornstein told CarExpert. Ms Hornstein wouldn't confirm where the brand expects to finish overall in 2025. While June is traditionally a strong month for new-vehicle sales, fuelled by end-of-financial-year (EOFY) offers, the third quarter is typically a weaker time of the year for sales. It was the Atto 3's launch in 2022 that saw BYD properly establish itself in Australia as a volume brand, after previously dabbling with limited runs of fleet-focused vehicles like the e6 people mover and T3 van. BYD's Australian sales volumes should continue to grow on the back of several new model releases. It's planning to launch a new small electric SUV, the Atto 2, later this year, while the seven-seat Sealion 8 plug-in hybrid SUV will follow in 2026, giving the brand its largest SUV yet in our market. Other vehicles on the horizon from BYD include more permutations of the hot-selling Shark 6, and potentially an electric city car (the Seagull/Dolphin Surf), plus a plug-in hybrid mid-size sedan and wagon in the Seal 06. BYD is now distributing vehicles in Australia itself, having dropped EVDirect as its local distributor – though the Aussie firm retains a minority stake in BYD's retail joint venture with Eagers Automotive Limited, and key personnel have moved over to the automaker. The company also plans to introduce its premium Denza brand later this year. GWM sets new sales records in Australia
GWM continues to be one of Australia's fastest growing auto brands – and the nation's favourite Chinese brand – posting its best-ever monthly sales result in June and a new record for half-year sales today. The automaker was the country's seventh best selling brand last month, and now holds the same rank in the year-to-date sales standings – up from 10th in the first six months of 2024. BYD placed fifth last month with a huge sales tally in June, but it remains behind GWM in eighth so far this year, while MG was outside the top 10 in 11th last month and now lies 10th year-to-date. 'Delivering this level of growth in a competitive and constantly evolving market is a direct reflection of the dedication shown by our dealer network, partners, and of course our GWM staff,' said GWM ANZ chief operating officer John Kett. '2025 was always set to be more competitive than 2024, with new brands entering and established players refusing to yield. GWM won't be dialling back in the second half – we're maintaining EOFY pricing to reinforce our commitment to being a price accessible brand. 'From July 2025, we'll also accelerate the rollout of our next-generation technology, led by innovations in HEV, Hi4, and Hi4T PHEV systems across key models like the Cannon Alpha, Haval H6, and Tank 500,' said Mr Kett. GWM also says it will expand its Australian dealer network from a current 115 retailers to about 125 by the end of 2025.
