North End building to be demolished following fire
A North End building is slated for emergency demolition following an early-morning fire on Sunday. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic (WFPS) was called to the blaze in the 600 block of Logan Avenue just after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. When crews got to the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building, prompting them to call for an aerial ladder and two additional pumps. Firefighters launched a defensive attack, spraying water from outside the building. The WFPS is arranging for an emergency demolition in order to fully extinguish the fire and ensure there are no more hotspots. No one was hurt and the fire is under investigation. Additional weekend fires The WFPS was kept busy over the weekend, responding to two other fires on Saturday night and Sunday morning. The first fire broke out around 10:10 p.m. on Saturday at a house in the 0-100 block of Higgins Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the home. At first, crews launched an exterior attack but switched to an interior strategy once it was safe to do so. The fire was declared under control just after 11:20 p.m. The WFPS was called to another fire around 7:20 a.m. Sunday, but this time at a vacant and boarded-up home in the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue. Crews found smoke and flames coming from the home but got it under control in under an hour. No one was hurt in either of these fires, which are both under investigation.

Dollar General witnessed growth across all key product categories, including consumables, seasonal, home products and apparel. Dollar General now expects same-store sales to rise between 1.5% and 2.5% compared to its prior forecast of 1.2% to 2.2%. Target Corporation TGT experienced a 3.8% decline in comparable sales, following a 1.5% increase in the preceding quarter. This drop was attributed to a 5.7% fall in Target's comparable store sales, which was somewhat offset by a 4.7% increase in comparable digital sales. Target highlighted that traffic, or the number of transactions, dropped 2.4%, and the average transaction amount decreased 1.4%. Costco's Price Performance, Valuation and Estimates Costco stock has been a standout performer, with shares rallying 16.5% in the past year, outpacing the industry 's growth of 7.2%. From a valuation standpoint, Costco's forward 12-month price-to-earnings ratio stands at 50.34, higher than the industry's ratio of 32.3. COST carries a Value Score of D.
