Plugzmart's ‘relay' offers multi-network EV charging without OCPI lock-in

Time of India2 days ago
MUMBAI: In a market where large-scale interoperability is increasingly essential, OCPI (Open Charge Point Interface) has become a de facto standard for roaming among mature EV charging networks.
However, its complexity often presents a roadblock for newer entrants or for rapid deployment in dynamic environments. To bridge this gap, Plugzmart has introduced 'Relay', a multi-CMS connect platform that enables interoperability without requiring every stakeholder to adopt and maintain the full OCPI stack.
Relay offers a simplified yet powerful solution for Charging Point Operators (CPOs), particularly fleet operators, by connecting to multiple Charge Management Systems (CMS).
Instead of linking each EV charger to a single CMS, CPOs can now connect their chargers to Plugzmart's Relay platform, which then interfaces with multiple CMS platforms. This architecture ensures that even if one network experiences downtime, others continue to operate, keeping charging stations functional and fleet operations uninterrupted.
The Relay platform also provides a unified dashboard for operators, offering a comprehensive view of all connected CMS platforms without compromising on individual backend control.

Plugzmart's middleware is engineered to dynamically route each charging session to the relevant CMS, based on real-time session details. This not only ensures accurate billing and session tracking but also addresses the broader technical and business needs of fleet operations, retail CPOs, and enterprise users looking for high reliability and operational clarity.
"Relay enables higher charging utilization for fleet operations by connecting with multiple CMS platforms, including those specifically built for fleet management. If one network experiences downtime, others continue to operate, ensuring uninterrupted charging availability and smoother fleet operations," the company stated.
One of the platform's most significant advantages is its multi-network compatibility.
By allowing chargers to work across various e-mobility service providers, Relay expands accessibility and attracts a wider network of users and partners. This not only enhances customer reach but also drives up utilization and revenue potential for charging stations.
'Serve multiple networks and customer groups simultaneously to keep charging stations active and profitable,' Plugzmart said. 'Even if one network faces downtime, others continue to operate, ensuring consistent usage and better overall efficiency.'
Plugzmart has also built Relay with an eye on long-term flexibility. The middleware avoids the risk of vendor lock-in by allowing CPOs to operate independently of any single CMS provider. This offers them the freedom to switch, upgrade, or integrate with additional CMS platforms as business needs evolve.
"Plugzmart's middleware intelligently routes charging sessions to the appropriate CMS enabling smooth multi-network operations,' the company said, highlighting the system's dynamic session management capabilities.
The platform is designed for flexible integration, especially with OCPP-compliant chargers. This ensures minimal setup time and no hardware changes for CPOs looking to expand their footprint. 'Plugzmart's middleware seamlessly integrates with Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP)-compliant chargers, ensuring minimal setup time and no hardware changes. This enables the scaling up of operations by CPOs without any hardware upgrades.
'
As India's EV ecosystem expands, solutions like Relay could play a pivotal role in helping charging infrastructure keep pace with demand, while giving operators the flexibility and resilience needed in a fast-evolving market.

Trade war: Tariffs notified, government hardens its position on no-go areas

NEW DELHI: On a day when US notified additional levies for countries, with 25% imposed on Indian exports, govt hardened its position asserting that farm and dairy products, genetically modified food, beef and animal feed with meat are no-go areas. Without being confrontational, govt sources made it clear that cultural sensitivities and farmers' interest will be paramount in talks with the US and indicated India's willingness to move ahead with talks, with the next round scheduled to begin on Aug 25. "We are engaged with American officials and securing our national interest is our primary objective. Govt is not going to come under pressure on areas that concern farmers and small businesses," said an official. While there is bound to be some impact on India's exports, sources said that it may shave off around 0.2 percentage points from GDP this year and there may not be a significant impact over the economy. The assessment is based on calculations that a significant part of India's exports to US - $20-25 billion out of overall exports of $86.5 billion last fiscal - was outside the ambit of tariffs notified through US President Donald Trump's executive order, issued early Friday (India time). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Emergency Generators in Miraflores: (Prices May Surprise You) Emergency Generator | Search Ads Search Now Undo In 2024-25, pharma exports were a little under $10 billion, while oil products added up to $4.2 billion and electronics were estimated at over $13 billion, made up largely of smartphones, according to official from medicines, the exemptions include Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, electronics and ICT products such as semiconductors, smartphones and computers and energy products. Forest tag stalls land allotment for Haveri industrial corridor

Haveri: The industrial corridor planned near Ganajur and Koluru villages in Haveri is experiencing setbacks concerning 68 acres of forest or revenue land confusion. Despite local farmers cultivating this land for years without proper documentation, the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) is unable to provide compensation owing to its legal classification as forest land, thereby impeding the project. Over 125 entrepreneurs requested land allocation to establish industries near Haveri's district headquarters. Sources indicate that while the 68 acres originally belonged to the revenue department, forest authorities previously planted saplings there. Subsequently, residents of Kolur began cultivation without proper documentation. The forest department now asserts its ownership of this land. Previously, the govt decided to establish an industrial corridor between Ganajur and Kolur across 407 acres, comprising both govt and private land. Within this, the first phase involving a 200-acre industrial layout was contracted to Bengaluru-based SRC Infra. While the initial phase is 80% complete, farmers are resisting development in the second phase. "At least 59 farmers have been claiming that they are cultivating 68 acres of land in Koluru village, but these farmers don't have any documents. These farmers have been demanding compensation like other private landowners whose land was acquired for the purpose. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like How to Trade ETH/USD Without Holding Ether IC Markets Learn More Undo But without proper ownership of the property, KIADB could not provide compensation to the farmers," stated a senior revenue department official. Deputy commissioner Vijay Mahantesh Danammanavar conducted a meeting with KIADB officials, Haveri tahsildar, and forest authorities, delegating land-related responsibilities to the tahsildar. "I asked for a detailed report from the tahsildar of Haveri after receiving applications from the farmers who claim to have been cultivating govt land for a long time. We will submit the report to the govt, and the govt will make a decision. We will complete the development works of the first phase of the industrial corridor by the end of Dec," assured DC Danammanavar. Entrepreneur Ramesh Ballari noted that numerous individuals waiting to establish industries have applied for land in the new corridor. However, land disputes persist despite ongoing construction. "Following this, many entrepreneurs are frustrated because they are not able to execute their ideas through their startups. The KIADB and department of industries and commerce (DIC) should complete the corridor work and allot layouts as early as possible," he demanded. Attempts to reach Ashok Pyati, joint director of the DIC for comments were unsuccessful.

Min drafts policy to allow direct land buy for industries

1 2 Nagpur: Seeking to ease land acquisition process for industries, Maharashtra minister of state for finance, planning, agriculture, labour, relief and rehabilitation, Ashish Jaiswal, has moved a draft proposal to permit direct land purchases, instead of going by the Land Acquisition Act, which calls for paying a four-time rate. Jaiswal's proposal also calls for giving full ownership of the land to an industry. The current system only allows industries to hold land on lease. At present, it's the Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation (MIDC) that does the acquisition on behalf of an industry. After paying the four-time price, the industry can only hold it on lease, said Jaiswal. As per the draft proposal, any company planning to buy huge land parcels would be allowed to buy through mutual negotiations with the landholders, said the minister. "If the land is purchased directly, there would be no question of providing jobs to the oustees. Under the Land Acquisition Act, even resettlement and rehabilitation have to be done," he said, confirming that buying land under his plan would do away with these conditions. Addressing a meeting on industrial relations organised by Vidarbha Economic Development (VED) Council, Jaiswal said the draft policy has been put up, and he hopes state govt would take it forward soon. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Up to 70% off | Shop Sale Libas Undo VED members appreciated the proposal. Under the Land Acquisition Act, the buyer is exempt from stamp duty, and the seller need not pay capital gains tax. It has been mooted that the two exemptions should be made available in the proposed mutually negotiated land purchase policy too, said Jaiswal. The minister said he is also working on a policy to fix fair wages. "There is a concept of minimum wages, but there should be policy also for fair wages. The wages a worker would get at the time of retirement can be calculated on joining itself by factoring in inflation and other aspects," he said. Jaiswal said he is also working on a proposal to get industry status for mining, which would allow additional benefits for the sector. "While safeguarding the labourers' interests, one has to ensure that industrialists are not unnecessarily harassed. I attended a meeting chaired by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis a couple of days ago. The chief minister said no wrongful harassment of the industries will be tolerated. Immediate action will be taken in such cases. If not, the concerned superintendent of police will face action," he said.
