A video clip recently shared by @kini.viral.my on Threads showed exactly that.
A woman was caught on camera standing in a vacant parking bay and stopping others from parking there. The incident took place at Checkers Hypermarket, Sri Sentosa, Old Klang Road.
Despite multiple cars attempting to park at the space, the woman remained unbothered, seemingly waiting for her companion to arrive and claim it instead.
The person who filmed the incident can be heard expressing frustration, calling the act 'not civilised.'
More importantly, this behaviour is illegal.
Section 50(3) of the Road Transport Act 1987 explicitly prohibits individuals from reserving parking spaces by physically standing in them or placing objects to block access, where violators can face a fine of up to RM2,000 or even a jail sentence of up to six months.
'It's not just rude, it's unlawful,' one user commented. 'Why do people still act like this in 2025?'
The comment section was flooded with similar sentiments, condemning the woman's actions as selfish and embarrassing.
This incident has once again reignited public discourse on parking etiquette, legal awareness, and civic responsibility in urban Malaysia.

Father and son killed in motorcycle crash with four-wheel drive in Tangkak
TANGKAK: A man and his seven-year-old son were killed in an accident after their motorcycle crashed into a four-wheel drive vehicle. Four men arrested in Kuching drug raids, nearly 3kg of narcotics seized
KUCHING (July 6): Police have arrested four local men, aged between 28 and 35, for suspected drug trafficking in three separate raids conducted here last week. Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the first suspect, aged 30, was arrested on July 3 during a raid by the a team from Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) Sarawak at a house in Jalan Upper Chawan. 'Police seized about 2,209.73g of drugs believed to be ecstacy, with an estimated value of RM2,209.73,' he said in a statement yesterday. Alexson added that the suspect, who tested positive for benzo, had no prior drug-related criminal records. Regarding the second and third cases, Alexson said the raids were carried out on July 4 at two separate locations, namely a house in Taman Hussein at around 4 PM and another in Kampung Lintang about an hour later. 'At the house in Taman Hussein, police arrested two local men, aged 33 and 35 and confiscated 227.33g of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis (ganja), estimated to worth RM1,550 'Both suspects tested positive for THC and had no prior drug-related criminal records,' he said. Alexson said at the house in Kampung Lintang, police arrested a 28-year-old local man and seized 541g of dried leaves also believed to be cannabis (ganja), with an estimated value of RM3,800. Fatal crash claims lives of two youths in Miri

MIRI (July 6): Two youths were killed after the car they travelling in crashed into a roadside tree in front of a primary school here along Jalan Kuala Baram Bypass early this morning. The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), in a statement, identified the deceased as Roquell Brain Roland and Slyvester Ribai Tuah, both aged 19. Bomba said they were notified about the incident at around 2.30am and firefighters from the Lopeng and Lutong fire stations were dispatched to the scene. 'Upon arrival, it was found that two men were trapped inside the car. The firefighters proceeded to extricated the victims from the vehicle,' it added. Bomba said both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and were handed over to the police for further action. Meanwhile, Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, in a statement, said the vehicle was travelling from the direction of Sungai Tujoh heading towards Miri city centre. 'Upon reaching the area near E-Mart Tudan supermarket, the car lost control, skidded onto the left shoulder of the road and crashed into a tree. 'Both the driver and passenger sustained injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene,' he added. He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police are urging members of the public who have information related to the incident to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Insp Mohammad Amiruddin Hamdan at 018-952 9957, 085-433 400, or any nearby police station.
