Duke's Jon Scheyer Receives Major Recruiting News On Elite Prospect
Duke lost a majority of its key players to the 2025 NBA Draft, including Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, Khaman Maluach and Tyrese Proctor, among others.

But Scheyer has capitalized yet again with another top recruiting class, bringing in Cameron and Cayden Boozer, the twins of former Duke star Carlos Boozer, and Nikolas Khamenia, all of whom are top 25 prospects (247 Sports).
But Scheyer might not be done adding to his 2025 class. According to On3's Joe Tipton, the Blue Devils are inching closer to landing Italian guard Dame Sarr.
"Duke is gaining ground with elite Italian prospect Dame Sarr, per sources," Tipton wrote on X. "The 6-foot-6 shooting guard visited Kansas last week. Ranked as the No. 17 overall recruit in the 2025 class, per On3."
Sarr, 18, has been playing professionally for Spain's FC Barcelona since 2022, though his minutes on the court have been limited. In 15 games during the 2024-25 EuroLeague season, he averaged just 1.8 points on 57.9% shooting, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 5.2 minutes per game.

But Sarr came onto the scene at the 2025 Nike Hoops Summit, inserting his name into 2026 NBA Draft consideration with 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Last week, Sarr partook in his first official college basketball visit with Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks, leading to a Crystal Ball prediction from 247 Sports' Travis Branham.
"Things sounding very positive with Kansas and Dame Sarr," Branham wrote.
However, that prediction has since been removed as Duke has inserted itself into the race for Sarr. The Blue Devils and Jayhawks will still have to battle the Oregon Ducks and Illinois Fighting Illini to land the Italian.

But Sarr could also elect to keep playing for FC Barcelona instead of joining a college program.

Kiyan Anthony Talks Bronny James' Nepo Baby Pressure: 'I Kind Of Felt Bad For Him'
We've already seen NBA players of yesteryear produce NBA-worthy talent in the likes of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and more, but now, it's time for the next generation. Leading that cohort is, of course, Bronny James, who's currently his father's Los Angeles Lakers teammate, and next up from that era is Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan. The younger Anthony recently sat on his dad's podcast at 7PM in Brooklyn to talk about the pressures of following in his dad's footsteps and the nepo baby allegations. He was joined by newly minted rookie Dylan Harper, son of five-time NBA Champion Ron Harper. ' Bronny [James] , I kind of felt bad for him, that's my guy. He doesn't speak a lot, he's not gonna go on the internet and say what he's gotta say, but like deep down, like behind closed doors, he probably was going through it,' Kiyan said. He continues, 'Like you're seeing this every day, you're on social media, you can't even scroll twice without seeing a post with your name on it.' What seems to baffle Kiyan the most is those who think he didn't deserve to be the 55th pick, and defends his talent. 'At the end of the day, he's nice… People trying to say he's not good… I think he's really nice and I think he really has a chance to prosper in the NBA,' he adds. Carmelo adds that despite all the external pressures, NBA kids are just focused on silencing the noise and balling out instead. 'It's very difficult for them, but I will give them credit because they really don't give a f-ck as much as everybody else give a f-ck,' Melo said. A major difference between Bronny and LeBron is that he didn't skip college and instead went to USC for a year, but his lone season was a bit complicated after he suffered cardiac arrest, which slowed his basketball progression. As for Kiyan, he's following Melo's lead. After graduating from Long Island Lutheran High School last month, he'll be heading upstate New York to join the Syracuse Orange basketball team, where former head coach Jim Boheim still has influence as the Special Assistant to the Athletic Director. Syracuse offered Anthony a scholarship two years ago, along with 17 other schools, including Tennessee, Rutgers, Auburn, USC, Arizona State, and Ohio State. Atletico Madrid adds playmaker Álex Baena from Villarreal
MADRID (AP) — Atletico Madrid continued boosting its squad by signing midfielder Álex Baena from Villarreal on Wednesday. The transfer was announced a day after Atletico said it signed 22-year-old Italian left back Matteo Ruggeri from Atalanta. Both have signed five-year contracts. Financial details were not immediately disclosed. The 27-year-old Baena helped Spain win last summer's European Championship and Olympic gold medal. Baena made his Spain senior-team debut in 2023 against Cyprus, scoring with his first touch of the ball two minutes after entering the match. He helped Villarreal win the Europa League in 2021 and spent the following season on loan at Girona. Atletico said Baena 'has great dribbling ability, shooting and vision, and throughout his career has played in every possible position in midfield, especially as a left winger, although he is naturally right-footed.' Atletico has parted ways with some players from last season's squad including Reinildo, Axel Witsel and Cesar Azpilicueta. Diego Simeone's team finished third in the Spanish league last season, behind Real Madrid and champion Barcelona. It was eliminated in the group stage of the Club World Cup. ___ AP soccer:

Sergio Scariolo to end long tenure as Spain men's basketball head coach
Sergio Scariolo plans to step down as Spain's men's basketball head coach after this summer's EuroBasket, ending a run that included the last four Olympics. Scariolo, a 64-year-old Italian, coached La Roja from 2009-12 and also since 2015 through the end of the nation's golden generation. With plays like brothers Pau and Marc Gasol, plus Ricky Rubio, he guided Spain to Olympic silver and bronze medals in 2012 and 2016 and the FIBA World Cup title in 2019, plus four European Championships. In 2012, 2016 and 2021, Spain lost to the U.S. in the Olympic playoff rounds by an average margin of nine points. Spain was eliminated in the group stage in Paris, its first Olympics without the retired Pau Gasol since the 2000 Sydney Games. 'My first words are to thank Sergio for all his commitment to the national team,' Spain basketball federation president Elisa Aguilar said in a press release, according to a translation. 'Five golds, one silver, and two bronzes define Sergio's role in these 15 years. He has known how to improve the performance of our players and has always shown a comprehensive vision of our sport, involved in player development, and has been a visionary. anticipating all the problems we could have. 'Although we still have time together, I want to thank you for creating that competitive capacity of our team. When he told me the final moment had arrived, it wasn't good news, but I understood that he had earned the power to decide when to leave the national team's bench. He is the best coach of all time, the one who has given us the most and best wins.' Kurt Helin,
