Jofra Archer joins England squad for 2nd test against India
LONDON: Fast bowler Jofra Archer could play his first test in four years after he was added to England's squad on Thursday.

Archer joined up for the second test against India next week at Edgbaston. England leads the five-test series 1-0.
The 30-year-old played the last of his 13 tests in February 2021 in India.
Following his right thumb injury during the Indian Premier League, Archer played his first red-ball game in more than four years this week for Sussex in the English County Championship. He took 1-32 in 18 overs in his only bowling innings. He also batted once for 31 runs.

Litton Das (14) edged Jayasuriya to wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis with one run added to the overnight score. Jayasuriya lured Nayeem Hasan (5) for a drive, and he was stumped by Kusal Mendis. Jayasuriya caught Taijul Islam (6) off his own bowling, while off-spin bowler Tharindu Rathnayake ended the game trapping Ebadot Hossain (6) lbw. Jayasuriya finished the innings with 5–56. Captain Dhananjaya de Silva and Rathnayake took two wickets each. The first test in Galle ended in a draw.

Alexandra Eala makes tennis history for Philippines by reaching Eastbourne final
EASTBOURNE, England: Alexandra Eala became the first Filipino to reach a WTA Tour final as she beat fellow qualifier Varvara Gracheva 7-5 2-6 6-3 at the Eastbourne Open on Friday, while lucky loser Jenson Brooksby will meet holder Taylor Fritz in the men's final. Left-hander Eala, ranked 74th in the world, edged a tight first set before losing five games in a row in the second as the match appeared to be slipping away. But the 20-year-old regrouped in the decider and survived a tough seventh game before breaking her French opponent's serve to lead 5-3. She then enjoyed a love service game to seal victory. In Saturday's final she will face 19-year-old Australian Maya Joint who beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 7-5 6-3. It will be the youngest Eastbourne final since 1981 when Tracy Austin faced fellow American Andrea Jaeger. 'I'm super happy because that was a tough match and there were some really tough moments,' an emotional Eala, who is based in Mallorca and trains at the Rafa Nadal Academy, said on court. 'It was tough physically and mentally because she is a tough player and also came from qualifying.' Eala's run will not have gone unnoticed by Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova, who has been drawn to play her in the first round at the All England Club next week. 'TikTok dances always had a way of bringing people together,' Sabalenka wrote on her Instagram feed below a clip of the duo showing off their moves on the Centre Court grass to the strains of the 1990 hit 'Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)' by C+C Music Factory. Gauff, a frequent TikTok user, put up a video of the pair standing outside the main stadium at the All England Club and mouthing along to a track with the words: 'OK guys we're back. Did you miss us? Cause we missed you.' Gauff wrote: 'The olive branch was extended and accepted! We're good, so you guys should be too.' The No. 1-ranked Sabalenka and the No. 2-ranked Gauff held a practice session together at Centre Court ahead of the year's third Grand Slam tournament, which begins on Monday. Three weeks ago, Gauff beat Sabalenka 6–7 (5), 6–2, 6–4 in the championship match at the last major, the French Open.
