Istana Seri Kinabalu denies viral claim linking Sabah Governor's family to Form One student's death in Papar
In an official statement issued to Bernama today, the palace described the allegations as baseless, irresponsible, and defamatory, saying they threaten to tarnish the reputation of Tun Musa's family.
It also called on the public not to spread unverified or slanderous information, and reminded them that disseminating false content is an offence under existing laws, including the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
'Any developments related to the investigation into the case should be referred to the police or the Ministry of Education Malaysia to avoid public confusion and misinformation,' the statement read.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun was quoted earlier today as confirming that the case has been transferred to Bukit Aman for final review before being referred to the Attorney General's Chambers.
The 13-year-old student was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu at 11 am on July 17, a day after she was found unconscious in a drain near her school dormitory at around 4 am on July 16. — Bernama

Sultan Ibrahim is also scheduled to visit several leading Russian innovation hubs, including the Central Automotive Development Centre (NAMI) and the Tochka Kipeniya Technology and Innovation Hub. Following the engagements in Moscow, His Majesty will proceed to Kazan in the Republic of Tatarstan on Aug 8. Tatarstan, a Muslim-majority autonomous republic within the Russian Federation, plays a unique role in fostering interfaith understanding and cultural exchange. While in Kazan, Sultan Ibrahim is expected to grant an audience to Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and tour a local helicopter manufacturing and assembly facility. Creative economy gets 13MP recognition
PUTRAJAYA: The orange economy is a developing sector that has the potential to contribute to Malaysia's economic growth, says Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil ( pic ). Fahmi, who is also the government spokesman, said the sector, which includes creative industries such as film, music and animation, was included in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) as a result of a proposal and engagement session between the Communications Ministry and the Economy Ministry. 'The engagement process has convinced the Economy Ministry that the orange economy is a developing sector, which has the potential to help economic growth,' he said at a post-Cabinet press conference here yesterday, Bernama reported. Meanwhile, Fahmi said the details of the specific benefits of the orange economy sector will be known when Budget 2026 is presented this October. During the tabling of the 13MP in Parliament on Thursday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government was committed to driving the growth of the creative economy through the high-potential digital creative industry. According to Anwar, the Matching Fund and Joint Production Fund will be implemented to encourage joint investments between the government and the private sector in the production of world-class content. 'The country's digital creative industry has generated income of RM6.3bil, with an export value of RM850mil,' he said.
