Recycle Your Old Laptop and Save $50 on a New Chromebook Plus
If you've been toting around an old laptop, cursing the wheel of doom and wishing you could upgrade, Best Buy has an offer that can make an already affordable Chromebook even more doable. Between now and Oct. 19, if you recycle an old laptop you will save $50 on any Chromebook Plus model.
To get the deal, there are a few caveats. First, you must recycle the laptop in store to get the credit, and you'll need to make sure your local store is participating. Once you've turned the laptop in, you will receive a $50 coupon toward the purchase of a new Chromebook Plus. There is only one coupon allowed per transaction, and that coupon can only be used once. It's also good to note that this coupon is not good on refurbished or open-box items, however, the discount applies to the current price. That means if the laptop is on sale, you'll save an extra $50. You can read the full disclaimer here.
Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.
For example, the current price of the ASUS CX5601 16-inch, 2-in-1 Chromebook Plus is already discounted from $599 to just $349. Knock that extra $50 off and the price drops to $299 for a FHD Plus screen, 8GB of memory and 128GB of SSD, a $300 savings.
The Acer Chromebook Plus 514 was dubbed by our team of reviewers as the best overall Chromebook. Currently the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514, a very similar model with the added flex of a full-hinge and tablet-like usability, is on offer at Best Buy for $586. That's already a $114 discount, and with the trade-in offer, you can pick it up for $536.
More Chromebook Plus deals
Keep in mind that while the offer stands through Oct. 19, the prices -- and stock -- are subject to change so when you find something you like, we suggest snapping it up while it's on sale. If you're looking for more options, our deals team has rounded up the best current laptop deals, so you can compare.
Why this deal matters
Although it's widely agreed that Chromebooks are among the most affordable laptops and ideal for students, that doesn't mean they can't get pricey. Anytime you have the chance to save, especially by recycling an older laptop that is just taking up space, is a win. Plus, you can recycle your old laptop now and hold on to the coupon until you find exactly the Chromebook Plus you are looking for.

Jim Cramer on NVIDIA Stock: 'I Don't See It Tripling From Here'
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) is one of the 11 stocks Jim Cramer put under the microscope recently. The company was mentioned during the episode, and here's what Mad Money's host had to say: 'If the semis became like the oils in 1980, then tech would… account for about 60% of the S&P 500. I think that's unrealistic… I just think we gotta curb our enthusiasm a little bit, and everyone knows I love the sector. It's hard to accept that a stock like NVIDIA, currently the largest company in the world, could double or even triple if Reitzes' (Ben Reitzes, Managing Director and Head of Technology Research at Melius Research) bullish forecast comes to life. The company provides a wide range of products and software that support data centers, AI, robotics, gaming, virtual computing, and automotive systems, including cloud services and digital twin applications tailored for enterprise AI use. Jim Cramer Calls AMD a 'Semi-Meaningful Competitor' to NVIDIA
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is one of the 13 stocks Jim Cramer recently shed light on. During the episode, Cramer called the stock a 'semi-meaningful competitor' to NVIDIA. He said: 'Lately though, we've been seeing AMD, their only semi-meaningful competitor; stock's up like 40 straight points, win[s] a lot of business. Same with Cisco, Arm Holdings. Marvell Tech. Broadcom plays a huge role in these. Vertiv makes power and cooling equipment for the data center. A close up of a complex looking PCB board with several intergrated semiconductor parts. Jim Cramer Says Applied Digital is a 'Very Good Spec'
Applied Digital Corporation (NASDAQ:APLD) is one of the 11 stocks Jim Cramer put under the microscope recently. A caller asked for Cramer's thoughts on the company, and in response, he said: 'Okay, this is high-performance computing infrastructure, and high-performance computing is on fire. That company doesn't make any money, but I think it's a very good spec.' An overhead view of a large-scale data center with rows of servers and blinking lights. Applied Digital (NASDAQ:APLD) develops and operates digital infrastructure. The company delivers cloud services and high-performance computing tailored to sectors including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cryptocurrency mining. It is worth noting that in April, when Cramer was asked about the company, he said: 'I know the company, and it's the kind of thing, we have so many of these digital infrastructure plays. I actually just prefer if you're going to go there, just go buy Salesforce. I'm not kidding. Go buy CRM, I would feel better that way.' While we acknowledge the potential of APLD as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk.
