James played sparingly as a rookie, but showed signs of growth and potential in his time with the Lakers' G-League affiliate.
The son of NBA legend LeBron James gave a rare glimpse into his life off the court with a recent Instagram comment, confirming his relationship with Parker Whitfield.
The two attended the same high school, Sierra Canyon in California and were spotted together supporting Team USA in the men's basketball tournament at last year's Olympic games in Paris.
James isn't the only one in the relationship with famous family members. Parker Whitfield's mother is Salli Richardson-Whitfield, a veteran actress known for films like "A Low Down Dirty Shame" and television shows like "Eureka."

Her father is Dondre Whitfield, a fellow actor known for roles on "All My Children" and the "Cosby Show."
Whitfield attends the historic Spelman College in Atlanta. Former graduates from the school include politician Stacey Abrams, television host Shaun Robinson and Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Lakers will carry familiar faces with James into the Summer League, including fellow second-year player Dalton Knecht. They'll be joined by former college stars like RJ Davis, Sir'Jabari Rice and Julian Reese - brother of the WNBA's Angel Reese.
Los Angeles will continue their Summer League journey against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, before games against the rival LA Clippers and Boston Celtics on Monday and Thursday respectively.

The Nuggets could potentially offer Al Horford a one-year deal. However, Horford is expected to join the Golden State Warriors despite Dub Nation only having the $5.7 million taxpayer mid-level left to offer him, with no other attractive pivots available to Denver. This has led to the Nuggets officials being currently determined to enforce Valanciunas' contract and see him join the roster for next season, per Stein. This is despite the player seemingly wanting to sign this three-year deal with Panathinaikos, who have already promised a celebratory reception at Athens' Eleftherios Venizelos Airport in around 10 days. A similar situation had played out before Sasha Vezenkov's transfer to Olympiacos last July. Advertisement The player had acquired the requisite letter of clearance after forfeiting his entire salary for the 2024-25 season, an option which remains available to Valanciunas as well. However, it is up to the Nuggets to accept, as things stand, they look poised to enforce the contract. NBA fans continue to be spoiled; just two weeks after the final buzzer had sounded to mark the end of the 2025 NBA Finals, there is plenty of action to be had already — with the Summer League kicking off in Salt Lake and in California. And on Sunday, the California Classic brought fans a barnburner, with the San Antonio Spurs overcoming the Golden State Warriors, 90-88, in what was quite an exhilarating finish to the ballgame. Advertisement The Spurs may not have had Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant active, but that did not make the game any less exciting. After all, the Warriors' Summer Leaguers gave it their all. Warriors guard Will Richard, in particular, looked as though he was going to shoot Golden State into the victory after he drained a triple to cut the Spurs' lead to just one with around 30 seconds left in the contest. However, Richard could not make it two triples in a row, with his attempt at a game-winning three at the buzzer clanking off the front iron of the rim, sealing the Spurs' victory. The Spurs' blue-chip prospects may not have played, but that only opened up the opportunity for David Jones-Garcia, a Memphis alum, to do the bulk of the heavy lifting for San Antonio. He finished with 25 points on an extremely efficient 9-14 shooting night from the field.
