Health minister seeks Rs 50L aid from CM for patient

Mangaluru: Minister for health and family welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao urged chief minister Siddaramaiah to release a special sanction of Rs 50 lakh to a patient from Sullia, Chandini GD., who is suffering from a rare disease. The minister stated in a request letter to the CM, that it would require more than Rs 50 lakh for the treatment of the 34-year-old Chandini, wife of Purushothaman C from Gandhinagar in Sullia. She is suffering from right atrial mass, hyper IGE syndrome with mast cell activation syndrome, dock 8 mutation seizure disorder, hypothyroidism, hiatus hernia with motility disorder. Since the treatment involves a huge cost, the minister requested the CM that it would be better if the finance department sanctioned the treatment cost. "Chandini hails from a poor family and she is suffering from a rare disease. There is no option to bear the cost of her treatment under health department schemes. A request to sanction treatment cost under Chief Minister's Relief Fund was made. Accordingly, Rs 1 lakh was already released. Since the treatment of Chandini would require more than Rs 50 lakh, I request you to consider this as a special case and sanction the funds through the finance department," Rao stated in his letter to the CM. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? If BJP is genuine, it must legalise BC Reservation Bill: Kadiyam

Hanumakonda: Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari said on Thursday that the government is implementing welfare schemes that are not found anywhere else in the country. Along with additional collector Rohit Singh, he attended the ration card distribution at the tahsildar's office in Lingala Ghanpur mandal headquarters. They distributed ration cards to beneficiaries. Additionally, cheques for Rs 7,98,250 were distributed to 14 beneficiaries from the CM's Relief Fund in the mandal. Srihari demanded that if the BJP truly cares about the BCs, it should immediately provide legal backing to BC reservations. He accused the BRS of misusing power and pushing the State into deep debt. He questioned how many assets KCR, KTR, Harish Rao, and Kavitha had in 2014 and how many they now possess, implying massive accumulation of wealth through misuse of power. He alleged that this is why the entire Kalvakuntla family is entangled in legal cases, with one already jailed and others likely to follow soon. The MLA stated that the dream of ration cards for the public was realised only under the government. In Jangaon district, 9,700 ration cards were sanctioned, and 14,780 new members were added to the list. In the mandal 688 ration cards were sanctioned. He advised those who haven't yet received cards to apply immediately. He emphasised that only under the Congress are the poor getting justice, and praised the distribution of free fine rice as an unprecedented initiative in the country. Srihari accused the Opposition of criticising the government out of desperation. He remarked that those who are incapable of action often talk too much. He highlighted that the government holds record for waiving Rs 2,000 crore in loans in a single financial year. He announced new pensions would soon be sanctioned. He urged people to observe how those who were in power for the last 10 years are now embroiled in legal cases.

Seven other candidates who fell ill during the exercise were rushed to the district headquarters hospital, where two remain unconscious. The others are reported to be in stable condition, though all showed swelling in their lower limbs. The candidates were required to complete the 2-km run between Padampur and Ranipentha within 10 minutes to qualify. "Five of us had come from our village for the test. We then saw an ambulance coming and later discovered he had died," said Sasmita Mali, a co-villager of the deceased. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep grief over the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for Mishal's family. The government has ordered a probe into the incident, and further recruitment tests have been temporarily suspended. Byomkesh Naik (28) from Keonjhar district and Prabin Kumar Panda (29) from Sundargarh district collapsed during a 25-km walking test on March 4. Both were employed professionals seeking better prospects in the forest department. The recent deaths during government recruitment physical tests have raised concerns about the safety protocols and testing conditions during such events in the state.
