Bihar dominates deaf sports event
Kanpur: Bihar stole the show as they won taekwondo junior and senior titles in the 27th national deaf senior and 10th national deaf junior and sub junior championship concluded here at VSSD College on Sunday.
Punjab won the runner up trophy and UP & Haryana emerged as joint third place holders. In senior group, Haryana won the championship. Odisa and Rajasthan captured second and third place respectively.
Winners of Judo event:
Senior Women—44 kgs- Shabnam (UP), 48 kgs- Pragati (UP), 52 kgs – Niranjana (Haryana), 57 kgs- Shashi (Maharashtra), 63 kgs- Aditi (Delhi), 70 kgs- Vaishnavi (Maharashtra), Lakshina (J & K)
Men—55 kg- Raghunath Prasad (Maharashtra), 60 kg- Himanshu Singh (UP), 60 kg- Rakesh Bindey (Jammu), 73 kg—Samadhi Raje (Odisa), 81 kgs- Sumit Saini (Punjab), 90 kg—Asif Khan (Haryana), 100 kg- Omkar Suresh (Maharashtra), 110 kg +- Karandeep (Delhi)
Four Kanpur boys who were part of UP team won two silver and two bronze medals in Taekwondo championship. The medal winners were Krishna Agarwal, Yuvraj Chaurasia (both Silver), Arman and Srishti Gupta (both bronze).
