2025 Big 12 Preseason Top 25 Players: Deep Talent Across the Conference
It's a fun year to come up with the 25 best Big 12 players it's relatively easy, but like the rest of the conference, it's so even and so solid from top to bottom, this year it's the Big Ten and SEC, the high-end, next-level talent isn't quite there, but with the influx of great transfers at places like Texas Tech and Colorado, and with great parts still around all across the board, there's plenty of room for no question about it - you could swap out all the quarterbacks on this list with the ones we left off, and you'd probably be right. But going into the season, here we go with the Top 25 Big 12 going to be a blast.- Previews of every Big 12 team - CFN All-Big 12 Team 2025 CFN Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year Spencer Fano, OT Jr. UtahAnd it might not be even close, Fano should be the best pro prospect out of the Big 12 going into the 2026 NFL Draft. At 6-6 and 302 pounds, he's not massive by next-level standards, but he's an ultra-athletic masher who'll be the star on a fantastic Ute line. 2025 CFN Preseason Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Dontay Corleone, DT Sr. CincinnatiA true anchor, the 6-1, 335-pound "Godfather" is the steady centerpiece of the Bearcat line. In three seasons, he made 110 tackles with 9.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss, but more than that, he's a true leader for what should be a vastly improved D. 2025 CFN Preseason Big 12 Top 25 Players 1. HCs can't entertain factual inquiry: SC
The Supreme Court has stated that a high court, while exercising jurisdiction under Article 199 of the Constitution, cannot entertain matters requiring factual inquiry. "It is the prerogative and privilege of the trial court to examine such controversies so as to be disposed of on merit after taking into consideration the evidence led by the parties," said a five-page verdict authored by Justice Shakeel Ahmad. Justice Ahmed was part of a three-member bench — led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi — which heard pleas filed against an order of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) with regard to partial payment of the security amount paid by a contractor who built the BHC building in 1986. The Government of Balochistan's Construction and Works (C&W) Department had blacklisted the contractor in July 1991 on account of unsatisfactory performance and forfeited his security. The contractor filed a suit in a trial court which issued a judgment and a decree on May 4, 2006. However, due to failure on the part of the C & W department to release the security amount to him, he filed an application before the executing court for implementation of judgment of the trial court. The executing court dismissed the execution application on May 20, 2009, declaring that there is no mention of release of the security amount in favour of the contractor in the trial court order. The contractor filed a civil miscellaneous appeal to the BHC, which converted the appeal into a constitution petition and issued notice to the C&W department, directing it to submit details of the amount allegedly paid to the contractor. After making factual inquiry in this regard, the court on September 7, 2017 partly allowed the petition, directing the C&W Department to pay Rs20,12,668 to the legal heirs of the contractor — who had died by then — out of security amount within a period of thirty days. The legal heirs of the contractor were of the view that they were entitled to the total security amount — Rs68,67,668. Hence, they filed a civil petition in the Supreme Court. The C&W department was also unhappy with the BHC judgment and also filed a civil petition. The SC in its verdict noted that clause set out in the plaint reflected that the petitioner had not made any prayer for release of security amount. The C&W department also objected to the BHC order for release of the security amount, stating that it had already released the security to the contractor. It noted that the high court decided to get the matter examined by summoning official records and carrying out a full-fledged inquiry in presence of the parties. It said this exercise could not have been done in writ jurisdiction. "The scope and ambit of the proceedings before the high court, in the instant case, was limited to the extent of judgment and decree of the trial court and the order dated May 20, 2009, passed by the executing court, dismissing the execution application on the ground that the claim for recovery of the security amount mentioned in execution application was not decreed in favour of the contractor. "The high court has not attended to any of the above stated prayers and the judgment and decree passed by the trial court, and order of the executing court, and proceeded to decide the case after making a detailed inquiry. "Thus, in our view, the high court exceeded in its authority by passing the impugned judgment, calling for interference. In our view, the factual controversy raised by the parties can only be resolved after recording pro and contra evidence through a civil suit," it added. "[Therefore] the BHC judgment is set aside. The civil petition filed by the legal heirs of the contractor, seeking release of remaining security amount is dismissed and leave refused. "[The petitioners may] seek relief from the appropriate forum, if so advised, subject to all just and legal objections from the other side. No order as to costs," the order said.

Inside 12, NYC's New Matcha Café Where Tradition Comes Before Trend
12 Matcha, NYC's newest matcha store offering a modern take on an ancestral tea ritual. Culture isn't something that can be staged. It must be felt, expressed through rituals, materials, colors or sounds evoking decades, if not centuries, of traditions and practices. That's what the essence of 12 Matcha, New York's latest matcha café, is all about. Unlike most coffee shops, it is not framing matcha as an alternative to coffee, but inviting guests to step into the world of matcha culture. 12 is democratizing matcha rituals, offering a modern take on a tradition rooted in Japanese culture. And in doing so, it is showing that being guided by values, rather than trends, will always resonate more deeply with consumers. Culture First, Then Product According to Min Lew, Partner at Base Design, and the lead behind 12's identity and space: 'Craft matcha is still just beginning in the U.S. Today, it's more of a commodity play, with two polar opposites of how consumers are being offered matcha: in everyday coffee shops, or in niche, traditional Japanese tea rooms.' The aim of 12 was to bridge this gap, seeking to make premium matcha culture accessible while remaining loyal to its roots. And in learning how the concept came to life, it is clear this mindfulness in regards to matcha culture was present from inception. 'When thinking about the capital brand, we wanted to make sure to honor the philosophy around tea culture and matcha rituals, while bringing something very modern along,' Lew tells us. A team was brought to Uji, a city south of Kyoto where the most premium matcha is cultivated, to learn from and capture the essence of Japanese tea culture from one of the country's top tea masters. This commitment to respecting the philosophy of matcha culture became the guiding thread for the entire project and manifested throughout — from logo design to location scouting and spatial aesthetics. The 12 brand name has various references: alpha brain waves 12Hz, which promote mental clarity and ... More relaxation of the mind as well as the 12 universal symbols. The result: a modern take on ancient rituals, transforming a mainstream trend into a timeless cultural experience. This is probably what makes a lasting modern brand: not by forcing a brand into cultural relevance in ways that don't feel authentic, but rather by placing culture as a key component of brand identity, narrative construction and activations. Luxury brands often are best equipped to make culture an active, moving piece of their strategy because a majority of them have lived through history and are built upon craftsmanship and traditions. But come to think of it, every product carries a history, tea included. Elevating it from a commodity to a meaningful ritual is not groundbreaking, it is simply an indication that a brand exists to embody and share a tradition rather than surf on a trend. Success then becomes a by-product, one that 12 didn't see coming. 'We had in mind to open and slowly perfect the process and experience, but TikTok brought a huge crowd from day one', says Lew who admits that everyone was surprised and did not expect the lines of people waiting sometimes 30 minutes to experience not just a quality matcha, but the ritual around it. Space As A Stage For Emotions Lew explains the philosophy behind 12's retail design: 'Instead of building the store around efficiency and churn, we thought about ways to honor the tea ceremony, which is designed to be a dialog between a host who serves and the drinker.' This translated into a long counter where people can observe the process of matcha being made: from weighing the powder to whisking it with charcoal-filtered water displayed right in front of them, consumers become front row spectators. Overall, the space is minimal, premium and spacious thanks to generous volumes and high ceilings, naturally conveying the serenity of matcha ceremony. The 12 Store, comprised of a bar, ground floor and lower level tasting room for intimate tea ... More ceremonies Located on Bond Street, a quiet street in the heart of SoHo, 12 was designed to uplift visitors, where matcha is an indulgent self-care ritual rather than a mere other item on the menu. Bathed in sunlight, the space aims to bring in vitality and good energy to anyone coming in, thanks to a blend of multi-sensory elements that allow consumers to truly be present. As confirmed by Lew, '12 was curated as a space to allow natural experiences to unfold,' rather than programmed experiences like we see with many pop-ups and brand activations at the moment. This mindset helps build emotional engagement and create memorable experiences, showing that retail, when designed with intention, can truly become a stage for moving culture and emotions. In a crowded market filled with trend-led novelty, what sets a brand apart isn't just a great product anymore. What makes 12 stand out is its intention to offer matcha in the form of a shared ritual—through storytelling, design, and culture. Visitors come for the drink, but leave with the experience of calm and connection. Min Lew probably summarized it best: 'Trends shift, but values stay. Substance should be prioritized over novelty.' And maybe that's the true key to lasting brand relevance.
