ALOR STAR: The planned bridge connecting Pulau Tuba with Pulau Dayang Bunting in Langkawi is currently at procurement stage and the letter of acceptance will be issued in mid 2026, Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said. He said the federal project was vital for the people on the island and was approved under the 12th Malaysia Plan Rolling Plan 3 to replace and upgrade the existing one-lane bridge that was narrow and could only accommodate one four-wheel drive vehicle at a time. "The bridge spans across Selat Bagan Nyior making it a vital route and when completed will be the main infrastructure network that will provide mobility and access in any weather as well as help the inclusive socioeconomic development to boost the standard of living of locals. "The project involves the construction of a bridge that is 1.04km, including a 0.38km bridge and a 0.66km road with the Public Works Department specification of R1 (two lanes)," he said in a statement after visiting the project yesterday. ALOR SETAR: The proposed bridge connecting Pulau Tuba and Pulau Dayang Bunting in Langkawi has entered the procurement stage, with the letter of acceptance expected by mid-2026. Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan confirmed the development, highlighting the project's significance for local communities. The federal initiative, approved under the 12th Malaysia Plan Rolling Plan 3, aims to replace the existing narrow one-lane bridge, which currently allows only a single four-wheel drive vehicle at a time.
