A 14-year-old boy was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run collision with a vehicle in Surrey, B.C., on Sunday, according to the Surrey Police Service. Police say they were called to the intersection of Old Yale Road and Mall Access, between Holland Park and Central City Mall, shortly after 10 p.m. "Officers arrived to find that a 14-year-old boy had been struck by a vehicle that had fled the scene," said Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton in a news release. The vehicle's driver was later found near 104 Avenue and Whalley Boulevard around 2:15 a.m. Monday. "The driver was arrested for both impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. The investigation remains in its early stages and no charges have been laid," Houghton said. The incident occurred after the end of the nearby B.C. Halal Food Fest at Holland Park. Police are asking witnesses or those who may have CCTV or dashcam footage to contact SPS at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-51543 (SP).

Teen charged with possessing loaded gun during teen takeover in Naperville, officials say

A teenage boy was charged with having a loaded gun during a teen takeover in Naperville, Illinois, over the weekend, the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office announced. The 14-year-old from Naperville was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a weapon. The office said on Saturday, shortly after 7:30 p.m., while patrolling the area of Washington Street and Jefferson Avenue during the takeover, an officer saw the teen acting suspiciously. The officer confronted the teen and conducted a pat-down. During which, they found a loaded 9 millimeter semi-automatic handgun in his waistband. He was then arrested. The teen appeared at his detention hearing Monday morning, where he was ordered to be released on home detention with electronic monitoring. He is due back in court on June 27.

(File pic) PETALING JAYA : Nine secondary school students in Kemaman, Terengganu, have been remanded for three days to assist in an investigation into the alleged assault of a 14-year-old boy on two separate occasions last month. Kemaman police chief Razi Rosli said the male students, aged between 15 and 18, were arrested yesterday after the victim, a Form 2 student, lodged a report. 'The victim claimed he was beaten by several students on May 27 and 28,' Razi said, according to Utusan Malaysia. He said the incident is believed to have been triggered by one of the suspects becoming upset that the victim had kept photos of his ex-girlfriend, who is now dating the assailant.
