SEVENTEEN's Joshua breathes new life into Slander's Love Is Gone

In a fresh spin on an emotional classic, SEVENTEEN's Joshua has teamed up with American DJ duo SLANDER for a poignant reimagining of their hit acoustic track Love Is Gone. Released on July 25 at 1 PM KST (9:30 AM IST), the new version highlights Joshua's delicate vocal colour, offering a stripped-back yet emotionally potent take on the track, which originally featured Dylan Matthew, explores the aching emptiness of a love lost. With minimal instrumentation and a spotlight on raw emotion, the rework allows Joshua's voice to carry the narrative with a subtle but profound 'He breathed new life into the track with his fresh vocal tone while staying true to its essence,' SLANDER said in a statement, adding that the collaboration came about after they personally reached out to the SEVENTEEN vocalist. Joshua, who has been steadily expanding his musical horizons beyond the K-pop sphere, expressed his gratitude for the collaboration. 'I'm happy and grateful to share one of my favourite songs in my own voice. I'll continue to show my own colour through diverse music,' he isn't Joshua's first foray into global collaborations. He previously featured on 17 by Pink Sweat$ alongside fellow SEVENTEEN member DK and joined DK and Dino for a remix of New Kids On The Block's 2008 single Dirty Joshua is set to return to the stage with SEVENTEEN as the group launches their much-anticipated SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR 'NEW_' beginning September 13–14 at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium in South Korea.- EndsMust Watch

Auroville and IIT-M working to fast-track sustainability campus project

Auroville and IIT-Madras are looking to fast-track the project to establish a state-of-the-art sustainability campus on a 106-acre expanse of land in Sedarapet area that will be dedicated to incubating green technology solutions. The initial focus of the proposed Research and Development facility will be to harness cutting-edge green tech towards developing green energy solutions and electric vehicles, particularly for commercial applications and high-load carriers with long-range capabilities. A high-level delegation from IIT-Madras (IIT-M) led by its Director V. Kamakoti was in Auroville this week to take the project forward. The 69th meeting of the Governing Board (GB) of the Auroville Foundation that convened earlier this month had approved the draft MoU for the partnership, also involving the Ministry of Education, in this regard. The Ministry of Education, which has oversight over Auroville, also cleared the proposal to set up the entity on a piece of leased land inside the township. The IIT-M, with its primary campus at Guindy in Chennai, envisions the proposed facility in the international township as its fourth campus. The premier institution has established two satellite entities — the NTCPWC-Discovery campus in Thaiyur and the international campus at Zanzibar, Tanzania. In March, Mr. Kamakoti had stated that it was proposed to earmark 20 acres of the sustainability campus to set up a world class zero-emission test track for electric trucks under the roof of a Centre of Excellence for Zero Emission Trucking (CoEZET). While this is in alignment with the broader national policy of guiding the logistics sector (where freight vehicles account for about 45% of transport emission) in transitioning to Zero Emission Technologies, the mandate of the sustainability campus is also to work on projects focused on achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. The IIT-M has found a convergence of these missions with Auroville's ideals. Auroville has also signed a separate MoU to establish an IIT-M research park and a Centrally-supported Innovation Hub in Auroville as a tripartite partnership that involves the Ministry of Education. 'We expect the campus to deliver sustainable solutions that are relevant not just to India but to the world at large,' said Jayanti S. Ravi, Auroville Foundation Secretary, who serves as Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue, Gujarat. The partnerships harmonise well with one of Auroville's founding purposes at the time it was conceived by The Mother — that of steering the world on to a path of conscious living, she said. Meanwhile, the IIT-M delegation undertook a site visit to Sedarapet to assess the land earmarked for the campus as part of preparing a Detailed Project Proposal. During feasibility study, the officials outlined the ambitious scope and objectives of the initiative, Auroville said in a press note. Addressing global supply challenges pertaining to rare-earth shortage through R&D innovations is among the plans. 'The sustainability campus will provide a significant boost to emerging startups from Auroville, Puducherry, and the broader bio-region,' said G. Seetharaman, OSD, Auroville Foundation. The IIT-M Director noted that the collaboration represented a significant step toward integrating sustainable technology education with community development in the Auroville region. The proposed campus is designed to serve as a hub for research and development in sustainable technologies while providing educational pathways for local students and supporting the growth of eco-friendly startups in the region. The partnership is also expected to create new opportunities for innovation in sustainability and green technology, Auroville said. The IIT-M Director, who was accompanied by associates Rajnish Kumar and R.G. Robinson, visited the Matrimandir and the Matrimandir Lake project, and assured Auroville of extending IIT's technical support for the endeavour, the press note said. Earlier, the IIT-M team was welcomed by an Auroville team that comprised the OSD, Venugopal (Senior Consultant), Sindhuja Jagadeesh, from the Auroville Town Development Council (ATDC), and Antim S from The Admissions and Terminations Scrutinising Committee (ATSC). The visit also featured community interaction, including a presentation of Mr. Kamakoti on 'IIT for Everyone Programme', the note added.

iPhone 17 now said to use Apple's new A19 chip, check other leaked specs and launch date

Apple is gearing up for its next big iPhone launch, and fresh leaks now suggest that the iPhone 17 could come with the brand-new A19 chip instead of the previously rumoured A18 processor. This update comes from analyst Jeff Pu, who now believes the standard iPhone 17 and the upcoming iPhone 17 Air will both run on Apple's next-generation chipset, likely offering better performance and 17 said to use Apple's new A19 chip, check out other leaked specs and launch dateThe iPhone 17 series is rumoured to go official on September 8, following Apple's usual launch pattern. While the standard model may not look very different from the iPhone 16 in terms of design, Apple is reportedly making some bold changes to the Pro models. The iPhone 17 Air and 17 Pro could feature a redesigned rear camera layout, with a horizontal camera bar that stretches across the back panel. This new look could offer a more minimal and modern feel. The iPhone 17 Air is also rumoured to be noticeably slimmer, possibly by around 2mm compared to the iPhone 16 terms of display, Apple might be increasing the screen size of the regular iPhone 17 from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, bringing it closer in size to the iPhone 16 Pro. There's also talk of the device getting 120Hz refresh rate support, which would finally bring smoother visuals to the non-Pro models, though the advanced adaptive refresh tech (called ProMotion) might still be limited to the higher-end variants. The new iPhones are also expected to come with anti-reflective coatings, which could improve screen visibility outdoors. On the hardware front, the base model will likely continue with 8GB RAM, while the iPhone 17 Air and the Pro models could jump to 12GB, using faster RAM standards on the top-end options. All four models are rumoured to include Apple's in-house Wi-Fi 7 chip, which should offer better and more stable wireless performance gains, however, are expected to come from the A19 chip, which may bring improvements not just in speed but also in battery usage. Apple is also said to be testing a new vapour chamber cooling system, which may help keep the phone from overheating during gaming or video photography lovers, there could be good news. The iPhone 17 might get a 24-megapixel front camera, a big jump from the current 12MP sensor, and should result in clearer selfies and sharper video calls. The rear setup is expected to include a 48-megapixel main camera, but no telephoto lens, which remains exclusive to the Pro models. The iPhone 17 Pro Max may stick to its triple-camera system, with rumours of a mechanical aperture feature to improve low-light and daylight capacity details are still unclear, but the bigger screen suggests that Apple might include a larger battery. The iPhone 17 series may also bring 35W fast charging, which is quicker than before but still behind what many Android rivals offer.- Ends

West Coast midfielder Jack Graham slapped with four-match ban for ‘highly offensive homophobic slur'

West Coast midfielder Jack Graham has been slapped with a four-match AFL ban for using a 'highly offensive homophobic slur' towards a GWS Giants opponent last week. In a statement, the AFL said Graham was found guilty of conduct unbecoming in an incident which occurred during the second quarter of the Eagles' Round 17 loss to the Giants. 'The incident was self-reported by Graham to the West Coast Eagles,' the statement reads. 'The club reported it to the AFL on Friday morning with the AFL integrity unit undertaking an immediate investigation. 'Graham used a highly offensive homophobic slur against a GWS Giants opponent, which demeans and denigrates persons regardless of their sexuality. 'Graham has received a four-match sanction, with the AFL taking into account Graham's self-reporting of the incident, along with his private apology and contrition. Graham also rang the AFL CEO directly to apologise. 'He will not be eligible to play for the West Coast Eagles or any level of football for the next four weeks. As a part of the sanction Graham will also undertake pride in sport education.' The AFL's head of integrity and security Tony Keane said the ban sends a clear message. 'Everyone understands the word he used is both hurtful and totally unacceptable in any setting, ever,' he said. 'The AFL is very clear that homophobia has no place in our game, nor in the community. We have come a long way as a code, but this incident demonstrates there is so much more to be done, and we will continue to work together to improve our game as a safe and inclusive environment for all. 'The AFL will continue to consider the specific circumstances in each incident in determining appropriate responses. Graham's sanction would have been higher if he hadn't self-reported and understood his comment was totally inappropriate.' All AFL and AFLW players receive yearly education around vilification.
