Winnipeg police arrest pair of men allegedly selling drugs at wildfire evacuation site
The Winnipeg Police Service has made a pair of arrests after learning that drug dealers were allegedly focusing their efforts at evacuation sites in the city. Police said they began to investigate after receiving tips from the public of illegal activity in the 1700 block of Wellington Avenue. On Sunday, officers watched the suspects take part in what they believed to be several drug deals. Police note the suspects were in a car during the transactions. Officers stopped the suspect vehicle around 9:25 p.m. in the 1700 block of Sargent Avenue and arrested the driver. During the search, police found $820 in cash, three grams of cocaine and a drug line. The 18-year-old man driving the car has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possessing proceeds of crime under $5,000 and breaching an undertaking. He is in custody. A 21-year-old man who was the car's passenger is facing charges of trafficking cocaine and possessing proceeds of crime under $5,000. He was released on an undertaking. None of the charges against either man have been proven in court. Police said their liaison teams are visiting evacuation centres to ensure everyone feels safe. Officers are reminding residents to call 911 if there is a crime in progress or 204-986-6222 for non-emergencies.

Man, 18, charged with affray after alleged vicious stabbing outside Westfield in Mt Druitt, Sydney
A man has been charged over an alleged stabbing incident outside a Sydney Westfield shopping centre which left two hospitalised. Emergency services were called to the centre at Mt Druitt on about 5.15pm on Tuesday following reports of a group of men fighting. A NSW Police spokesperson said police were told a group of males, believed to be known to each other were involved in a brawl before the injuries were inflicted. Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command attended and found a 17-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man had suffered stab wounds. They were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital where they remain in a stable condition. Police quickly established a crime scene in the aftermath of the incident. Following inquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested in North Rooty Hill at around 4pm on Wednesday. NSW Police said the man was arrested by detectives from Strike Force Leeman before he was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station. The man has since been charged with affray and will front Parramatta Local Court on Thursday. Police will allege in court the 18-year-old man was known to the boy and the man who sustained stab wounds.

Killing of 18-year-old man is Montreal's sixteenth homicide of the year, police say
Montreal police say a suspicious death that occurred Saturday evening marks the city's 16th homicide of the year. Police spokesperson Antony Dorelas says the victim is an 18-year-old man. So far no arrests have been made for the killing, which occurred in Montreal's Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. Police say a second victim who suffered non-life-threatening injuries has also been found. First responders were called to the crime scene at about 10 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Notre-Dame and Sainte-Catherine streets. At this time last year, Montreal had seen 17 of the 32 homicides that would occur in 2024, compared to 31 homicides in 2023 and 42 in 2022.

18-year-old killed in Atlanta shooting
Atlanta PD said they are investigating after a 18-year-old man was killed in a shooting Friday. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Police responded to the 400 block of Fairlock Lane NW at about 5:43 p.m. on a report of a person shot. Officers said they found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. 18-year-old charged after allegedly threatening Hamilton high school students

(Twitter/@HamiltonPolice) Police have arrested an 18-year-old after he allegedly threatened to hurt or kill students at a high school in Hamilton. Hamilton police say the threat was directed at the students of Nora Frances Henderson Secondary school. They add that threats were also allegedly directed to a business near Upper Wentworth Street and Mohawk Road, adding the threat 'referenced some hate-bias overtones.' Police arrested the unnamed 18-year-old without incident, adding they are confident there is no threat to public safety. He is facing one charge of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. The charge has not been tested in court. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
