Second man arrested in follow-up operation after 3D-printed gun seized
Gardaí have arrested a second man in connection with the seizure of a firearm in Dublin on Tuesday night. While on routine patrol along Turvey Avenue, Inchicore, Dublin 8 at around 8pm on Tuesday night uniform Gardaí from Kilmainham (Community Engagement) Garda Station observed two males of interest entering a taxi. On stopping the taxi the Gardaí were met by a strong smell of cannabis. Both males were informed they were going to be searched under the provisions of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. One of the males was found to be wearing a ballistic vest and in possession of a substantial sum of money. As he was being searched, a .22 calibre pistol fell from being concealed in the ballistic vest. The firearm seized is now subject to full technical examination. Gardaí arrested the man in his 20s in connection with the seizure and detained him under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in Dublin. He has been charged in connection with the case and is scheduled to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (Court No. 4) on Thursday, June 26 at 10:30am. In the course of a follow-up operation on Wednesday, June 25, investigating Gardaí conducted a search of a residential property in Dublin's inner city. A second male, aged in his 20s, was arrested during the operation. He is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, at a Garda station in the Dublin Region. Speaking about last night's seizure Assistant Commissioner Paul Cleary said, "I want to acknowledge and commend the work of two uniform members of An Garda Síochána yesterday evening going about their duties diligently and proactively. "This was a timely intervention likely to have saved lives or prevented serious injury and is another dangerous firearm which has been taken off the streets of Dublin. "Gardaí across the Dublin region are on duty 24 hours a day, supporting local communities and working hard to An Garda Síochána's mission of keeping people safe'. Man arrested after pistol fell out of his clothes during drug search

More info A man has been arrested after a pistol fell out of his clothes during a drug search. Gardai stopped a taxi on Turvey Avenue in Inchicore at around 8pm last night, and were met with a strong smell of cannabis. Two men in the taxi were then searched, where one of them was found to be wearing a bulletproof vest. And during the search, the pistol fell out of his vest. He was also found to be in possession of a large sum of cash. The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested, and is being held at a garda station in the city. The gun has been sent away for a technical examination. Four people arrested after couple assaulted during terrifying armed burglary
Four people, including two juveniles, have been arrested after a couple in their 60s were subjected to a terrifying ordeal in their home in Co Dublin on Wednesday. Gardai have launched an investigation into an aggravated burglary which occurred at a property in Shanganagh Cliffs, Shankill at approximately 7.30pm last night. During the course of the aggravated burglary, four individuals entered the home of a couple in their 60s and assaulted and threatened the couple with a firearm. The four individuals then fled the scene in a vehicle and on an electric bike. Emergency services were called to the scene and the owner of the home, a man in his 60s, was transported to St Vincent's University Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Gardaí also responded to the incident and officers attached to Shankill Garda station conducted a search of the area. Gardaí subsequently arrested three individuals when they stopped a vehicle and a fourth individual was arrested a short distance away, who was on a electric bike. During the course of the search of the area, a semi-automatic firearm was recovered. All four men - one aged in his 60s, one in his 20s and two juveniles - are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at Garda stations in Dublin. Gardai say that investigations into the incident are ongoing. 1939 Singapore, formerly Potato Head Singapore, to close for good this month
It feels like just yesterday we were buzzing over the launch of 1939 Singapore – the multi-concept venue that took over Potato Head Singapore at Keong Saik Road. But less than six months since the announcement, the team has confirmed its upcoming closure this month. For those who never got around to visiting the space, 1939 is split across four floors: the Front Porch on level one, The Restaurant on level two, the cocktail bar Studio 1939 on level three, and The Rooftop on level four. The first level is also where you'll find the beloved Potato Head Three Buns burgers, such as the popular Fun Boy Three. Much of its predecessor's charm was preserved – from the signature hand-painted murals by artist David Bromley to the winding checkered staircase, dotted with vintage bits and bobs. 1939 Singapore's last day of operations is slated for May 31, 2025. While the reason for the closure was not revealed, all four levels will remain open right up till its final day. If you've been meaning to swing by, this is your final two weeks to do so.
