Audio Bus Launches New Production & Tech Rider Workshop Series
Hosted at Yellow Tape Records, Maadi, the workshops will be led by Egyptian artist 200 Shams and sound engineer Nazli Reda. Mar 21, 2025 Audio Bus, a Cairo-based creative space and music education platform, is kicking off a new workshop series for music production and technical riders with 200 Shams and Nazli Reda, on March 25. Hosted in partnership with Yellow Tape Records, Maadi, in this series, Audio Bus will be inviting guest speakers from the music industry to share their expertise. The first edition includes two workshops, the first being 'How Not to Produce Music', taught by 200 Shams. In this workshop, the Egyptian electronic producer will show simpler ways to create music, sharing insights into his distinctive non-linear approach with key tips for an easier music-making process. Meanwhile, Cairo-based live sound engineer and founder of Nazli's Noise, Nazli Reda will lead a hands-on workshop, titled 'How Not to Write Technical Rider', delving into the basics of signal flow, the crucial parts of a tech rider, common pitfalls to avoid and effective communication of technical requirements. Besides this new series, Audio Bus is also offering an intro to music theory workshop, led by pianist and live performer Tarek Hussien –for which classes are scheduled to begin in April 7th. Cairo's Underground Social to Host ‘Aswat' Festival February 21st
The lineup features 3Phaz, 200 Shams, Luka Wel Bateekh, ŸUMA and more. Feb 20, 2025 Cairo's Underground Social, an arts and media house dedicated to amplifying emerging talents across the SWANA region, is set to launch the first edition of ASWAT festival on February 21st. Brought in collaboration with Red Amber and the nonprofit organisation Palestine Music Expo, the pop-up festival is bringing a roster of diverse talents from across the region and its diaspora. The lineup is headlined by Tunisian indie-folk band ŸUMA, who will be joined by Egyptian electronic music producers 3Phaz and 200 Shams, alongside folk-pop outfit Luka Wel Bateekh, France-based selector Dafadee3o and Sudanese singer Hiba Elgizouli. The night will also feature specially curated tunes by Palestine Music Expo, interactive art installations and record shop pop-ups with listening stations, as well as creative vendors selling everything from artworks to designer pieces. There will also be some scrumptious bites with veggie options, courtesy of Ratios Bakery, along with some fun body painting and graffiti sessions with Montana Cans.
