PCB Chief Writes To BCCI Over Asia Cup: Report. Response Will Be Out By...

Team India's participation in the 2025 Asia Cup remains an uncertainity, with less than two months remaining for the start of the tournament. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn't ruled out the team's participation, it has also not confirmed the same. While BCCI continues to remain tight-lipped on the matter, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has reportedly written an email to the Indian board, highlighting concerns over the "sponsors and broadcasters" missing out on commercial deals. "We have been informed that in the absence of this information, their ability to plan effectively, allocate resources, and execute their campaigns is significantly constrained. In addition, to highlighting the challenges being faced by them, the media rights partner has highlighted obligations under the Agreement which commence 60 and 90 days prior to the commencement of the 2025 Tournament. Our sponsorship rights partner, TCM, have outlined the commercial concerns associated, particularly in terms of timelines required for effective monetization and activation planning," ACC wrote in its letter to the BCCI, as per a report in Times Now. "In addition, given the proximity of other major ICC and international events, both Sony and TCM have raised concerns that further delays could result in missed commercial opportunities that may not be recoverable due to existing scheduling and lead-time limitations. In light of this, and importantly, with fixtures for other major tournaments now confirmed, we are hoping to alleviate the concerns of our rights holders finalize the Asia Cup fixtures within this week. This is especially important for the ACC as the Men's Asia Cup is the main source of income for the organization. We believe that further delays may pose the risk of our partners claiming breaches of Agreement and seeking discount," the letter added. The report added that ACC's action could lead to a swift response from the BCCI, as early as next week. Recently, a promo of the upcoming Asia Cup appeared during the coverage of the 1st Test between England and India. However, there was no mention of the dates and venues. ACC is currently headed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who succeeded ex-BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is now the chairman of the International Cricket Council.

Malaysia wins women's team gold at Asia Cup archery

THE national women's compound archery trio of Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh, Saritha Cham Nong and Ng Sui Kim won the women's team gold at the second leg of the 2025 Asia Cup in Bukit Gombak, Singapore, today. The third-seeded Malaysians faced a tough challenge in the final against top seeds India, represented by Shanmukhi Naga Sai, Tejal Salve and Tanishka Nilkumar. However, the Malaysian trio rose to the occasion, delivering an impressive performance to tie India 232-232 after four rounds, forcing the match into a shoot-off. In the shoot-off, all three Malaysian archers maintained their momentum to score 29 points, while India managed only 26. The bronze medal went to Kazakhstan, who beat Bangladesh 234-230. Fatin Nurfatehah's hopes of securing a second medal were dashed after losing in the bronze medal match of the individual compound event to Indonesia's Yurike Nina Bonita Pereira. The Malaysian lost narrowly 8-10 in the shoot-off after both archers were tied at 146-146. The gold medal was won by India's Tejal, who edged teammate Shanmukhi 146-144.

2025 Asia Cup: Player Mistakes Led To Failure To Win Doubles Gold

KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's failure to win the doubles gold at the 2025 Asia Cup Sepak Takraw Championship yesterday has boiled down to players making mistakes at critical moments. Beyond according blame, Malaysian Sepak Takraw Association (PSM) president Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan, who in analysis was of that opinion, declared that his team would fix the delicate problem before the King's Cup in July. "If you ask me, the teams in this doubles event are very evenly balanced and whoever makes a mistake will pay a high price. We have seen how small mistakes can change the direction of the entire match. bootstrap slideshow "However, we admit that there is still a lot of room for improvement. Some mistakes should not have happened during key moments," he told Bernama yesterday. Malaysia's desire to win the doubles title following its first success in the quadrant event played earlier at the 2025 Asia Cup was dashed when they lost 1-2 to traditional takraw arch-rivals Thailand in the final yesterday. Asked to comment on the triumphant national quadrant squad, Sumali had effusive praise for the players who successfully delivered the country's first gold medal at the competition. "I am happy with the players' delivery in the men's quadrant. Since the beginning, I have focused on that and it seems that it has paid off. "The quadrant is an event we have never seriously participated in before and I am glad that we managed to emerge as champions," he said. Yesterday, the national quadrant squad made history by becoming champions after defeating Japan 2-0 for the country's first gold at the 2025 Asia Cup at the packed Titiwangsa Stadium.

When Will IPL 2025 Resume?

Last Updated: BCCI can consider three possible windows to host the remaining matches of IPL 2025, depending on the de-escalation of the India-Pakistan conflict. IPL 2025 has been indefinitely suspended due to cross-border war-like tensions between India and Pakistan. Although the countries are significantly away from a full-fledged war, shelling in border states, preparatory blackouts in several cities, and certain escalatory moves have caused unprecedented tensions. This is not the first time that the tournament hasn't gone on as planned. In 2009, the season was completely moved to South Africa due to its clash with the General Elections in India. In 2014, due to the same reason, the first half of the tournament was held in the UAE, before coming back to India. In 2020, it was postponed before the first match and hosted by the UAE in September-November, whereas the 2021 season had to be suspended mid-way due to bio-bubble breaches and was resumed later in the UAE. Similarly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would certainly be working on plans to find a window to complete this season. Twelve league matches and four knockout games are left to be played, but the details of the resumption plan would become clear only after the conflict de-escalates. As of now, there seem to be three clear windows for it: #3 Late May and June In the unlikely scenario that the conflict de-escalates in the coming days and peace prevails between the two countries soon, the IPL could resume in May itself. It'll be difficult to manage the logistical needs, but the stadiums, at the very least, would be prepared to host the games. There's a small window between the original final of the IPL on May 25 and the first Test between India and England on June 20. If confidence in security can be restored, the BCCI could host multiple double-headers to finish the season in less than a couple of weeks. According to a report in The Times of India, the BCCI might be open to the possibility of using a window earlier reserved for the men's tour of Bangladesh and the 2025 Asia Cup for IPL 2025. As of now, the final Test against England is to be held from July 31 to August 4 and India is then scheduled to tour Bangladesh between August 17 and 23 for three ODIs. However, the latter series was already under clouds of doubt well before the ongoing tensions, due to strained relations between India and Bangladesh. The second half of August could be a comfortable window for the IPL. A couple of issues in that could be monsoons in India and the possible unavailability of some star players due to clashes with other T20 leagues and international series around the world. #1 September Window This could be another good option for the BCCI to consider. The IPL has been previously held in September-November windows due to various reasons and as of now, India's international calendar has a space in this month. The BCCI was supposed to host the Asia Cup this month, but, like the tour of Bangladesh, that could be indefinitely postponed due to the relations between the neighboring countries. In such a scenario, the BCCI would be able to host the remaining games in India or in another country, like the UAE or South Africa, without forcing too many double headers as well.
