Texas A&M surprises Lions head coach Dan Campbell with Lifetime Achievement Award Texas A&M and the Detroit Lions teamed up to surprise beloved Lions head coach Dan Campbell with an award to recognize his career achievements. The Texas A&M Football account shared a video Wednesday afternoon of the "interview" setup with Campbell's old strength coach Mike Clark. Campbell was told that he was just there to talk about his time playing for the Aggies. As Campbell sat down across from Clark, a video appeared on the TV screen between them with a message from former Aggies head coach R.C. Slocum. "I know this comes as a surprise -- this is not an interview," Slocum said. "From everybody here in Aggieland, I wanted to congratulate you on what an awesome career that you have had and continue to have." The video continued to play messages from Campbell's former A&M teammates congratulating him for earning the Lettermen's Association 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award. Campbell watched on with emotion as the video wrapped up and his family walked out to embrace him. "Are you kidding me? You guys knew?" Campbell said to his family as they walked out. "I'm honored... I love my Aggies man... thank you to all my teammates, R.C., love you to death." Campbell played tight end for four seasons at Texas A&M from 1995-1998. The New York Giants selected Campbell in the 3rd round of the 1999 NFL Draft.

Former Texas A&M legend, current NFL head coach awarded for lifetime achievements Former Texas A&M legend and current Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell was honored with the Lettermen's Association 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award on Monday for his contributions as an Aggie and his achievements as a coach. The Texas A&M football program put together a surprise for Campbell, as he thought he was only joining his former strength coach Mike Clark for an "interview" about his time playing in Bryan-College Station, Texas. Little did he know, awaiting him would be several of his former coaches, teammates and players from throughout his career to congratulate him on the outstanding honor. Campbell played tight end for the Aggies from 1995-1998, hauling in 27 receptions for 314 yards and three touchdowns in the Maroon and White. Following the end of his collegiate career, he was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft. The Clifton, Texas, native spent stints with the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints before transitioning into his career as a coach. He started as an intern with the Miami Dolphins, where he quickly found his footing. After the Dolphins fired former head coach Joe Philbin, Campbell was anointed the interim head coach. Campbell returned to New Orleans in 2016 to become the new assistant head coach and tight ends coach, before he was hired by the Lions in 2021 to become the 28th head coach of the franchise. Since then, the former Aggie has broken the mold in Detroit to form one of the powerhouse teams in the NFC. The Lions have reached unprecedented heights over the last few seasons under Campbell, which included securing a 12-5 record to tie the franchise's single-season wins record, claiming the first divisional title since 1993 and advancing to the first NFC Championship since 1991. His gritty mentality, determination and dedication to the game of football have been well-received by the Lions fanbase. However, those traits and Campbell's contributions on and off the gridiron at Texas A&M are what led to this moment. Wichita Bar Association honors defense attorney for lifetime acheivement
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Criminal defense attorney Dan Monnat has been awarded the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Wichita Bar Association, honoring nearly five decades of legal work that has garnered national attention and shaped high-profile criminal defense in Kansas and beyond. The award acknowledges sustained excellence in the legal profession, including ethical standards and contributions to justice. Monnat has practiced law in Kansas and Nebraska for nearly 50 years. Woman stabbed in north Wichita, second woman arrested 'The WBA represents more than 1,000 lawyers in the Wichita area, and I am beyond humbled by their selection of me to receive this honor,' Monnat said in a statement. 'We will always stand together, bound by our passion for this profession and our love of the Constitution.' Known for taking on controversial and high-stakes cases, Monnat has defended clients in matters ranging from murder and sex crime accusations to white-collar crime and constitutional challenges.
