Tennessee basketball to play in 2025 Players Era Men's Championship
Tennessee basketball will compete in the 2025 Players Era Men's Championship. The 18-team tournament will take place Nov. 24-27 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Vols' first two opponents will be against Rutgers on Nov. 24 (1 p.m. EST) and Houston on Nov. 25 (6 p.m. EST). Tennessee's other opponent will be determined by results of the first and second rounds. Tennessee will play its final game of the event on Nov. 26 or Nov. 27. Game locations and broadcast information will be announced at a later date. Tennessee's contest against the Scarlet Knights will mark the third all time meeting between the two schools. The Vols won both previous meetings, claiming an 87-79 road victory in the NIT Season Tip-off on Nov. 19, 1992. Tennessee also defeated the Scarlet Knights, 67-51, in the first round of the NIT on March 19, 1969. The game versus the Cougars will mark the seventh all time meeting between the two schools. Tennessee and Houston split the previous six meetings. The Vols last played Houston in the Elite Eight of the 2025 NCAA Tournament on March 31 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Arkansas baseball defeats Tennessee to win 2025 Fayetteville Super Regional No. 3 national seed Arkansas (48-13) defeated No. 14 national seed Tennessee (46-19), 11-4, Sunday in the Fayetteville Regional of the 2025 NCAA Tournament at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas. With the victory, the Razorbacks advance to the College World Series for the first time since 2022, and ended Tennessee's season. Arkansas scored first after Charles Davalan hit a two-run home run in the third inning. The Vols also scored in the third inning. Cannon Peebles scored after Gavin Kilen grounded into a double play. The Razorbacks scored five runs in the fourth inning and would add three more runs in the seventh inning. Arkansas also scored one run in the ninth inning. Peebles and Kilen both went 1-for-3. In his final game for the Vols, senior center fielder Hunter Ensley went 1-for-3 and scored one run, while Andrew Fischer went 1-for-3. He also recorded one walk and reached base in all of Tennessee's 65 games this season. Liam Doyle (10-4) started for the Vols. He pitched 3.2 innings and allowed five runs, five hits and two walks. Doyle recorded six strikeouts, while totaling 73 pitches, including 43 strikes. Brayden Krenzel appeared in relief in the fourth inning. AJ Russell replaced Kenzel. He pitched 2.1 innings, allowing one run, one hit and one walk. He recorded two strikeouts, while totaling 37 pitches, including 22 strikes. Nate Snead, Brandon Arvidson, Dylan Loy and Tanner Franklin also appeared in relief for the Vols. Jay Abernathy hit a two-run home run for Tennessee in the ninth inning.
