Oman showcases logistics hub potential at Arab-Greek maritime forum
ATHENS: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) took part in the 2nd Arab-Greek Maritime Conference held in Athens, Greece, under the theme "Cooperation between Neighbours of the Sea."
Organised by the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Development, the event brought together representatives from chambers of commerce, business leaders, and shipping and logistics experts from across the Arab world and Greece.
The conference aimed to spotlight the significance of enhancing trade and maritime ties among coastal nations and fostering economic and investment partnerships, especially in the context of rapid shifts in global supply chains and the growing strategic role of ports and industrial zones in national economies.
Saif bin Nasser al Taiwani, OCCI board member and Chairman of its Al Dakhiliyah Governorate branch, highlighted Oman's strategic geographical position and investor-friendly legal framework. He affirmed the government's efforts to develop port infrastructure and connect maritime gateways to economic and industrial zones, positioning Oman as a regional logistics and trade hub.
He pointed out that Omani ports such as Sohar, Salalah, and Duqm offer integrated industrial environments supporting manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing industries. These facilities present broad opportunities for investment and partnerships in the blue economy. He emphasised the Chamber's commitment to advancing initiatives that stimulate trade, transportation, and investment across free zones and port areas.
Al Taiwani also invited business leaders to explore Oman's stable and attractive investment environment, particularly in the maritime and logistics sectors.
On the sidelines of the conference, several meetings were held with entrepreneurs and investors active in maritime transport and logistics to explore collaborative investment opportunities and supply chain ventures within the Omani market. — ONA
