A 30-year-old man is facing numerous charges, including driving while suspended and violating probation, after leading Sudbury police on a chase in a stolen SUV on Saturday. Police were alerted to the case when a 911 caller at 10:45 a.m. said a red SUV was being driven aggressively on the Kingsway. 'Further information provided was that this vehicle had struck another vehicle on the side of the road and fled the area,' police said in a news release Monday. Five minutes later, another caller said the same vehicle was now on Falconbridge Road heading to Garson. Cornered him in Falconbridge 'Witnesses described the vehicle to be travelling at 170 km/h and was being driven in the oncoming lane,' police said. 'Officers located the vehicle in Garson. The driver continued to drive through stop signs and drove to a private property in Falconbridge.' Sudbury police were able to block him in and prevent him from driving away. 'Officers directed the driver to exit the vehicle; however, the driver refused,' the news release said. 'The driver was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. Through the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the downtown core earlier in the day.' The 30-year-old suspect, who has no fixed address, has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, three counts of violating probation, one count of failing to comply with a release order, driving while suspended, and three counts of driving through a stop sign. He appeared in weekend bail court, police said, and was released.

City police, working with Ontario Provincial Police, arrested two suspects, ages 30 and 32, on June 18. Items recovered include a loaded revolver with ammunition, and drugs suspected to be 114.12 grams of cocaine, 14.91 grams of fentanyl, four oxycodone pills, cash, scales, drug packaging materials, a cutting agent and multiple cellphones. Both were charged with several weapons and drug trafficking offences. The 32-year-old was also charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and the 30-year-old was charged with two counts of violating probation. Both accused were held in custody pending bail hearings, police said.

One killed in early morning crash in downtown Milwaukee

A 30-year-old was killed in an early morning crash downtown, according to a statement from the Milwaukee Police Department. Police say that a vehicle traveling west on W. State Street collided with a second vehicle driving north on N. Sixth Street around 6:07 a.m. on June 7. The driver of the northbound car, 30, succumbed to injuries from the crash. The 20-year-old driver of the westbound car was taken into custody. Authorities are still investigating the incident and the 20-year-old driver may face charges, the police statement noted. Eighteen individuals in Milwaukee have died from injuries sustained in traffic crashes this year to date.
