Lewis Capaldi gives Scots chance to bag free tickets to sold-out tour - by visiting Greggs on this date

Fans have hailed Lewis Capaldi and Greggs' collab as "the most iconic British combo since tea met biscuits". Lewis Capaldi has made a triumphant comeback to the music scene with number one single 'Survive,' a performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and a sold-out tour - but he is giving back in a very special way. ‌ Last week, the Scots singer's eagerly awaited UK and Ireland arena tour sold out within minutes of extra dates being added. Due to the overwhelming demand, which fans snapped up in record time, he promptly added seven additional dates, but said that would be everyone's lot, as he is conscious of "pushing himself too far too soon". ‌ However, those who missed out on the star's comeback gigs might still be in luck. On Tuesday night, the 'Grace' chanter announced on Instagram that fans can bag a free pair of premium tickets to his sold-out UK tour. ‌ And how do fans go about it, you might ask? Well, music lovers are being asked to dress up as the hitmaker himself and get themselves down to one of five selected Greggs shops across the country to be in with a shout. But be warned - there are just 25 pairs up for grabs and it is first come, first served. Taking to the social media platform, Greggs official page explained: "Get yourself down to one of five selected Greggs shops in your BEST Capaldi cosplay to be in with a chance to nab the exclusive tickets. "With just 25 pairs available at each shop, only those who truly capture Lewis' iconic sense of fashion will be eligible to join the queue and have a chance to win..." Aptly, the competition kicks off in Lewis' hometown of Glasgow on Tuesday, July 22, from 6pm, when Greggs at 393 Sauchiehall Street will no doubt be inundated with Lewis lookalikes who hope to rock out to his tunes in person. ‌ The 28-year-old is set to play four dates in Scotland this coming September, with two nights at Aberdeen's P&J Live on September 10 and 11, and two nights at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on September 13 and 14. Salford's Gregg branch will host the lookalike contest on the same day as Glasgow, while Leicester Square in London and Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham will be next up on Wednesday, July 23 from 6pm. ‌ Fans' last chance will be at Meadowhall Retail Park Drive Thru in Sheffield on Thursday, July 24 from 6pm. Scots could be sporting anything from Lewis' classic black trousers and white tee combo, to his American flag ensemble from when the talent's hit single 'Someone You Loved' went to number one in the US in 2019. Afterwards the funny man and musician jokingly labelled himself"America's sweetheart". ‌ Followers of Lewis' career already can't get enough of his decision to team up with the much-loved food spot, known for their sausage rolls and Yum Yums. One fan wrote: "Capaldi cosplay AND Greggs? This is the most iconic British combo since tea met biscuits". Another wrote: "Sauchiehall St Greggs isn't ready for what I have planned". A third enthused: "This is so iconic, I love it!"

Tesla to sell Model Y cars in India, starting at $69,770

Tech billionaire Elon Musk's Tesla has priced its Model Y at about $69,770 (R1,246,393) in India, the highest among major markets, its website showed, as the electric carmaker geared up to open its first showroom in Mumbai on Tuesday. With delivery estimated to start from the third quarter, Tesla will drive on to India's busy roads, targeting a niche premium EV segment that accounts for only 4% of overall sales in the world's third-largest car market. It will compete mainly with German luxury giants such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz rather than domestic mass-market EV players such as Tata Motors and Mahindra. Tesla's Model Y rear-wheel drive will set back buyers ₹6m (R1,250,569), while its Model Y long-range rear-wheel drive costs ₹6.8m (R1,415,002). That compares with a starting price from $44,990 (R803,224) in the US, ¥263,500 (R655,219) in China, and €45,970 (R958,727) in Germany. Grappling with excess capacity in global factories and declining sales, Tesla has adopted a strategy of selling imported vehicles in India, despite duties and levies running into about 70%. On Tuesday, police guarded Tesla's first showroom in India as media crowded outside the office complex where it is located and the chief minister of the western state of Maharashtra, home to the Indian commercial capital, arrived for the launch. Inside the showroom clad in Tesla's signature minimalist neutral tones, the Model Y was draped under black and grey covers, partially visible through the glass. Access was tightly regulated with no sign of fans or onlookers nearby. Tesla's website showed the Model Y available for registration in Mumbai at an on-road price of ₹6.1m (R1,268,305), with a booking deposit of ₹22,220 (R4,619). The firm's Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability is on offer at an additional cost of ₹600,000 (R124,751), with future updates promised to enable operation with minimal driver intervention. While the features require active driver supervision and are not fully autonomous, Tesla said the system will evolve through over-the-air software updates.

Trump says he may soon increase car tariffs to push more US production

US President Donald Trump on Thursday warned he may soon hike car tariffs, arguing that could prod carmakers to speed US investments. "I might go up with that tariff in the not too distant future," Trump said at a White House event. "The higher you go, the more likely it is they build a plant here." Carmakers have been pressing the White House to reduce the 25% tariffs Trump imposed on cars. The Detroit Three carmakers have criticised a deal that would cut tariffs on British car imports but not on Canada or Mexico production. Trump cited recent investment announcements, including GM saying this week it plans to invest $4bn (R71,882,393,200) in three US plants and move some SUV production from Mexico. He also noted a $21bn (R377,382,600,000) Hyundai investment announced in March, including a new US steel plant. "They wouldn't have invested 10c if we didn't have tariffs, including for manufacturing American steel, which is doing great," Trump said. Mexico said last month cars assembled in Mexico and exported to the US will face an average tariff of 15%, not 25%, because Washington is giving carmakers reductions for the value of US content. Carmakers are facing increasing cost pressures stemming from tariffs. In recent weeks, Ford Motor and Subaru of America have hiked prices on some models due to higher costs from Trump's tariffs. In May, Ford estimated tariffs would cost it about $1.5bn (R26,939,413,200) in adjusted earnings. GM said last month it had a tariff exposure of between $4bn (R71,882,393,200) and $5bn, including about $2bn (R35,942,920,000) on the more affordable vehicles GM imports from South Korea, where it makes entry-level Chevrolet and Buick models.
