405 Freeway through Sepulveda Pass closed overnight for pavement project
Every night this week, up to two lanes on each side of the 405 Freeway will be closed through the Sepulveda Pass. The California Department of Transportation will begin the nightly closures at 9 p.m. each night from Monday through Saturday. The freeway will reopen at 6 a.m. every morning. Between Monday and Friday, motorists can expect up to two lanes of the northbound and southbound sides between Wilshire Boulevard and Mulholland Drive/Skirball Center Drive to be closed. On Saturday, only two lanes of the northbound 405 Freeway between Wilshire Boulevard and Mulholland Drive/Skirball Center Drive will be closed. Caltrans said they will try to keep delays capped at 15 minutes The construction is part of a $143.7 million Caltrans project that covers roughly 10 miles of the freeway between Van Nuys and Westwood. It aims at enhancing safety and improving mobility between West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Crews plan on fixing two overhead sign structures, 98 sign panel replacements, upgrading 6,400 feet of guardrails and upgrading 10 curb ramps. Caltrans expects to finish the entire project by Winter 2028 or 2029. The work schedule is subject to weather and operational reasons. Residents and businesses near the construction may experience noise, vibrations and dust.

Pedestrian killed on 405 Freeway transition road near Marina del Rey
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car early Friday morning on a connector road from the southbound 405 Freeway to the westbound 90 Freeway in Culver City. The California Highway Patrol and the Culver City Fire Department responded around 4:30 a.m. to the scene, and the victim was pronounced dead at 4:42 a.m. The transition road was closed as the investigation into the collision continued, slowing morning traffic along the 405 South. The SigAlert was cancelled at 7:12 a.m. This marks the second death on the same stretch of freeway near Marina del Rey this week. On June 22, around 2 a.m., Chandler Jones, 33, a former player for the NFL and Canadian Football League, alumnus of Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance and San Jose State University, was struck by a vehicle and killed near the western end of the 90 freeway

All lanes of the southbound 405 Freeway in Brentwood blocked for deadly crash
All lanes of the southbound 405 Freeway in Brentwood are blocked on Monday morning after a deadly crash. The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert for all southbound lanes at Moraga Drive until further notice. All northbound lanes remain open. The CHP received a call at 1:58 a.m. for a multi-vehicle crash involving an LAPD patrol vehicle. The CHP reports that three people were involved in the crash. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and two others, including an LAPD officer, were taken to the hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Drivers are urged to use alternate routes and travel with caution.
