Ridhima ends long title drought by winning 10th leg of WPGT
Kolar (Karnataka), Jul 25 (PTI) Ridhima Dilawari ended a long title drought as she overcame a troublesome front nine with a steady back stretch to win the 10th leg of Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour by a handy four-shot margin here on Friday. Ridhima totalled even par 216 with rounds of 72-70-74 while amateur Saanvi Somu, who finished runner-up, ended with a total of 220 at the Zion Hills course. Vani Kapoor rallied from her first round 79 with 70-72 on the last two days for a creditable third-place finish in a season where she has won four times. Vani started with two birdies and had one more on the 11th while she dropped a double bogey on the Par-4 12th and a bogey on the 18th. Durga Nittur (74) was sole fourth at 7-over 223 and two behind Vani. Ridhima, who last won in 2022, had a rough front nine as she dropped a shot on the Par-5 second which she made up for with a birdie on the fourth. However, a bogey on the Par-3 fifth and a double bogey on the Par-4 ninth had her in danger, though she still held the lead. Ridhima held herself very well on the return journey with one birdie on the 12th and parred all other holes on the back nine for a 35 that saw her card 74 and win by four shots over Saanvi. When Ridhima was struggling, one of her closest pursuers Amandeep Drall (79) also suffered a front nine 40, while on the back nine Neha Tripathi (78), after an even par 36 on front nine, had a 42 on the back nine. Ridhima, who has been playing well in patches became the sixth different winner this season and it was her first since the 14th leg of the 2022 season, during which she won twice. It will also give her confidence ahead of some possible starts on the Ladies European Tour and the Women's Hero Indian Open in October. Neha Tripathi dropped down the leaderboard with a 78 and she was tied fifth with Amateur Tanishka Prithvi (73), Gauri Karhade (75) and Heena Kang (75), all of whom were 8-over 224. Seher Atwal (77) and Amandeep Drall (79) were tied ninth and rounded off the top-10. Sneha Singh (72) was tied 11th and last week's winner, Jasmine Shekar (75) was T-14. Vani with Rs.14,43,667 maintains her big lead at the top of the Order of Merit, while Ridhima with Rs.9,58,000 moved to the second place, edging Amandeep Drall with Rs.9,52,967 into the third place. Court orders company to pay a former employee Dhs280,000 in compensation
The Abu Dhabi Labor Court-First Instance has ruled that a company be obligated to pay Dhs280,156 in compensation to one of its employees. The latter had worked for the company for approximately 25 years. However, there was a delay in the payment of the monthly wages, and the end-of-service gratuity was also unpaid despite the termination of the employee's contract. Specifically, an employee initiated legal proceedings against his employer requesting that the court order the defendant to pay him the following sums: the outstanding balance of his wages, expenses incurred in the course of the legal action, and the costs of the enforcement process. The employee initiated legal proceedings on the basis of his claim that he had been in the employ of the company for a period of approximately 25 years, receiving a monthly basic salary of Dhs7,000, and the full salary is Dhs14,000. The employee demanded an end-of-service gratuity of Dhs165,667 and back salaries of Dhs205,900. The Court determined that the case documentation did not contain any evidence to suggest that the company was not liable for the requested wages, thereby affirming the employee's right to receive the delayed wages amounting to Dhs212,433. Following the acknowledgement by the employee of payment amounting to Dhs91,411, subsequent to the deduction of the aforementioned amount, the employee would be left with a remaining balance of Dhs121,022. In view of the fact that the individual in question specified his request at Dhs114,489, the court was obliged to rule on this amount. The Court further explained that Article 51 of the Labor Law stipulates that an employee who has completed one year of continuous service with their employer is entitled, upon the end of their service, to a gratuity. The amount of this gratuity is determined in accordance with the standards and cases stipulated in the aforementioned article. Given the aforementioned facts, and in consideration of the employee's 25-year and two-month tenure with the company, the employee is eligible to receive a compensation amounting to Dhs165,667.

Centre approves annual road plan of Rs 3,667 crore for Himachal: Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 1 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh stated that the Central Government has approved the Annual Plan of Rs 3,667 crore for the construction and upgrading of roads, bridges and related infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh for the financial year 2024-25. Singh on Monday said that the plan includes construction of bridges, road widening, installation of crash barriers and other works on national highways across various districts of the state. The Minister said that on the directions of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, he recently met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and discussed important issues related to the state. He said that presently the state has around 1,200 kilometres of roads under the national highway network and requested to enhance central assistance for their maintenance and improvement of roads and other related works. He said that while the state had submitted an Annual Plan of Rs. 2,600 crore for the financial year 2023-24, it had received only Rs. 269 crore, which was insufficient. However, for the financial year 2024-25, the state government proposed a plan worth Rs.3,667 crore, which has now been approved by the Centre in June. Vikramaditya Singh said that he had also raised the issue of constructing a tunnel beneath Jalori Jot in Kullu district, under National Highway-305. The Central Government has given in-principle approval and sanctioned Rs. 1,452 crore for this tunnel. He said that the construction of this tunnel would not only boost tourism in the area but also benefit lakhs of residents in the region. He further added that due to repeated landslides near Brauni Nala on National Highway-5, the road has suffered serious damage. To address this, the Centre has approved Rs.135 crore for the construction of a bridge at this location. Apart from this, the Central Government has sanctioned Rs.1,385 crore for the four-laning of the Kala Amb-Paonta Sahib-Dehradun road. It includes land acquisition and pre-construction activities. The PWD Minister expressed his gratitude to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and the Central Government for approving significant funds for the state. He said he was hoping for strong coordination between the Centre and the State to continue in the future. He said that the state government, with the Centre's support, was committed to ensuring balanced and inclusive development in all regions of the state. The Minister said that during his Delhi visit, he also met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and raised the issue of the proposed Bhubu Jot tunnel and road connecting Mandi and Kullu districts. He requested that the road leading to the tunnel be declared strategically important as a defence route. He said that the state was hopeful of a positive outcome on this vital road project in the near future. Once completed, the road would reduce the distance between Pathankot and Kullu by 40 to 50 kilometres, which would boost tourism and also benefit residents as well as the Indian Army. (ANI)

123.2 kg of drugs worth over RM4 mln found in abandoned SUV in Gerik
IPOH: Police found 123.2 kilogrammes (kg) of methamphetamine and ketamine worth RM4,667,850 in a sports utility vehicle (SUV) abandoned on the roadside near Taman Pulai Savanna water treatment plant, Gerik, on June 6. Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the drugs were found in a Honda HRV after receiving a public complaint at about 1 am. 'The discovery of these two types of drugs is also among the biggest seizures made by the Perak police this year. 'From an inspection, the police found 80 transparent plastic packets suspected to be methamphetamine weighing 82.8 kg and 39 transparent packets of ketamine weighing 40.4 kg,' he said at a press conference at the Perak police contingent headquarters (IPK), here, today. However, he stated that the police did not locate the driver or passenger, and the vehicle was identified as a clone car based on an examination of the engine number. Noor Hisam said the drugs seized were believed to be for the local market and were estimated to be used by 350,000 drug addicts. He said the case would be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
