Jennifer Love Hewitt slams Sarah Michelle Gellar feud rumors

She knows what they did last summer. As the modern classic 1997 horror movie 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' has gotten a 2025 revival (now in theaters), there have been rumors of a feud between original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, 46, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, 48. 'I honestly remain still so confused by all of that stuff,' Hewitt exclusively told The Post. The 'Can't Hardly Wait' actress, who was talking to The Post to promote her ID series 'A Killer Among Friends (airing Mondays 10 p.m. on ID and streaming on HBO Max), added, 'I just feel like we're in a business where they always want women to have a problem with each other.' 11 Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Love Hewitt in 1998. The rumors of bad blood between Gellar and Hewitt started after the pair didn't pose together for pictures on the red carpet of the sequel's premiere on July 14. Hewitt told The Post that feud rumors, 'seems to be things that they do to women in particular, and it's not necessary.' 'I have absolutely zero beef with Sarah at all,' she went on. 'In fact, I applaud her for being a long-standing badass career woman, a mom, wife – all the things that I am, that we have in common.' 11 Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ryan Phillippe in 1997's 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' ©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection 11 Jennifer Love Hewitt in the 2025 horror flick 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' ©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection 11 Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt in 1997's 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' ©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection The '9-1-1' actress shares three kids with her husband, actor Brian Hallisay, who she married in 2013: Autumn, 11, Atticus, 10, and Aidan, 3. The 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' star, meanwhile, shares two kids with Prinze Jr., who she married in 2002: Charlotte, 15, and Rocky, 12. Hewitt concluded to The Post that that the feud rumors are 'just really unfortunate.' 'We run in different circles,' Prinze Jr. recently told Variety. 'I hadn't seen [Hewitt] since we wrapped the second movie in '98, but we care a lot about these characters, and it was all still there.' Hewitt previously said that she hasn't talked to Gellar since they were 18 in the 1997 movie. Gellar also addressed the rumors on social media. 11 Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. at the July 2025 premiere of 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' 'I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened. And unfortunately, JLH didn't come to the after-party.' The 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' star added, 'If you have ever been to one of these, it's crazy. I sadly didn't get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn't change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately, some things happen only in real life and not online.' The 1997 Kevin Williamson-written film followed a group of four friends who accidentally kill a man. One year later, they're stalked by a hook-wielding killer. Hewitt and Prinze Jr's characters were the only ones to survive – Gellar and Phillippe's characters both kicked the bucket. Taking to The Post in May, Phillippe joked about how often he dies onscreen. 11 Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Jennifer Love Hewitt in 1997's 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' ©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection 11 Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Jennifer Love Hewitt in 1997's 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' ©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection '[For 'Big Sky'] they put me all over the key art and the billboards, and then I died in the first episode,' he said, referring to his ABC series, which ran from 2020 to 2023. 'So I had a lot of people that were very angry with me about that. A lot of friends or fans were like, 'Oh, we're going to watch this show and you die in the first episode!' Now, I have to assure anyone when I'm in a project that I'm going to be in more than one episode.' The latest 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' ended with a wild post-credits scene, suggesting more movies in the franchise could happen. 'Oh my gosh, I have no idea. I mean, truthfully, I was just excited to be asked back for this one. So I don't want to be too greedy,' Hewitt told The Post. 'But as long as there's a really interesting, fun story to tell, and as long the people still care about the characters, I'm always happy to hopefully find my way back there.'

Regina King pays heartfelt tribute to ex Malcolm-Jamal Warner

Regina King says Malcolm-Jamal Warner left a "lasting imprint" on her life. The 54-year-old actress previously dated the late Cosby Show star - who died over the weekend aged 54 after getting caught by a rip current - from 2011 until 2013, and she has paid a heartfelt tribute to her former flame. Alongside a photo of her ex on a motorcycle, she wrote on her Instagram Story: "Some people leave a lasting imprint, not just for who they were but for the energy they carried. "I'm sending prayers filled with love and understanding to your family and loved ones. 'Rest easy Malcolm-Jamal Warner.' Warner died in a drowning incident near Cocles, a beach in Limon, Costa Rica over the weekend. He was in the water with his daughter - whose name has not been made public - when the incident occurred. Police have told ABC News that surfers attempted to save Malcolm and his daughter after the pair were spotted struggling against the current. A surfer was able to save the Suits star's daughter by returning her to safety on his surfboard whilst Malcolm was pulled back to a shore by a volunteer lifeguard and another surfer. The actor - who was best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show - was given 45 minutes of CPR but was pronounced dead at the scene. Malcolm's official cause of death has been declared as "asphyxation by submersion". The Caribbean Guard had revealed that there was no lifeguard on duty at the time when the tragic accident took place as they had "allocated resources" elsewhere due to "recent water incidents" at two beaches nearby. Tributes to Malcolm have poured in from across the showbiz world, including his 9-1-1 co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt. She wrote on social media: "This hurts my heart. A gentleman, an incredible talent and we were so lucky to have him in the 9-1-1 family. Heartbroken and sending love to his family." Comedian Sherri Shepherd said: "To know Malcolm was to know a renaissance man that possessed humour, grace, humility and deep cultural appreciation. He was just a good guy! "His passing is a true loss to the Hollywood community. He was a proud girl dad and loved his daughter so much. To his family, friends and all who loved him - my heart is with you."

Man left in critical condition after trying to save Malcolm-Jamal Warner

A man left in critical condition after the drowning of Malcolm-Jamal Warner was trying to save him. The 54-year-old actor died after being swept away by a rip current on a beach in Costa Rica over the weekend and another unnamed man – who was injured in the incident – was actually a Good Samaritan who spotted Warner in difficulty and tried to save him. The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) told PEOPLE in a statement: "The victim appears to have entered the sea and was apparently swept away by a current. The man was rescued by bystanders and taken to shore, where he received treatment from the Costa Rican Red Cross. However, he was declared lifeless at the scene." A spokesperson for the OIJ confirmed to PEOPLE that the second victim "came in [the water] to help Mr. Warner." The spokesperson added that the other person had no personal connection to Warner, but saw him from the beach and tried to help. The Cosby Show actor Warner was on vacation with his wife and daughter at the time of the accident, according to NBC News. The OIJ also confirmed that Warner's autopsy showed he died from accidental asphyxiation by submersion. It added: 'The body will be removed from the Judicial Morgue by a funeral service company hired by Mr. Warner's family.' Meanwhile, tributes to Malcolm poured in from across the showbiz world, with his 9-1-1 co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt stating that the tragedy "hurts my heart". She wrote on social media: "This hurts my heart. A gentleman, an incredible talent and we were so lucky to have him in the 9-1-1 family. Heartbroken and sending love to his family." Comedian Sherri Shepherd described Malcolm as "one of the most-grounded people I've met in our business" after working with him on the TV series Sherri. She said: "As someone who grew up on TV, Malcolm remained one of the most-grounded people I've ever met in our business. To know Malcolm was to know a renaissance man that possessed humour, grace, humility and deep cultural appreciation. He was just a good guy! "His passing is a true loss to the Hollywood community. He was a proud girl dad and loved his daughter so much. To his family, friends and all who loved him - my heart is with you."

L.A. entertainment production fell last quarter, even as TV started to pick up

A still from the TV series 'High Potential,' which is filmed in Los Angeles. Hollywood production faced another challenging quarter, as on-location shoot days from April to June decreased 6.2% compared with the same time period last year, according to a new report. The total number of shoot days in the second quarter was 5,394, compared with 5,749 a year ago, according to the nonprofit organization FilmLA, which tracks production in the Greater Los Angeles region. That total is down 32.5% compared with the five-year average. Production of feature films and commercials were significantly lower than last year. Film production decreased 21.4% to 553 shoot days, while commercial shoots decreased 15.3% to 692 days, FilmLA said. Advertisement The one bright spot was television production, which saw an increase of 17% compared with the same time period last year, with 2,224 on-location shoot days. That's the highest total since early 2024, though it is still 32.6% lower than the five-year quarterly average, FilmLA said. Television's sunnier quarter for was helped by production gains for TV dramas (up 9.4%), reality TV (up 29.5%) and pilots (up 364.7%). Production of TV comedies, however, fell 41.5% compared with last year. Shows such as the ABC procedural 'High Potential,' Fox's '9-1-1,' and Netflix's 'Lincoln Lawyer' all shot in the Greater L.A. region during the second quarter. Advertisement The report's 'other' category, which includes photo shoots, documentary production, student films, music and industrial videos and online content, saw a decrease of 17.3% compared with the previous year's quarter. California's entertainment industry recently received a lifeline in the form of an expanded state film and TV tax credit and a revamped program that allows more types of productions to apply for incentives. Recent legislation passed by the state legislature and signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom raised the cap for the film and TV tax credit to $750 million, up from $330 million, a move that Hollywood insiders said would increase the number of productions shot in California and potentially stem the tide of so-called runaway production to other states and countries that offer generous incentive packages. Advertisement FilmLA President Paul Audley noted the new legislation in a statement, saying the group was 'eager to meet with and work alongside our union partners, our industry, and our community, finding ways to make production in the Greater Los Angeles area as affordable, accessible, and straightforward as possible.' Last month, the California Film Commission said the latest round of the state's film and television tax credit program will provide government incentives to 48 upcoming movie projects. The slate, which includes both major studio projects and independent films, is expected to employ more than 6,500 cast and crew members and 32,000 background performers, measured in days worked. These projects will pay more than $302 million in wages for California workers.
