Porsche World Road Show: Statement cars that thrill, inspire and surprise
It's a searingly hot day at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The heat rises visibly off the tarmac, the ambient temperature pushing well past 40 degrees Celsius. But the rising mercury isn't the only thing setting the track ablaze—Porsche has brought its spectacular lineup to Delhi, and what a sight it is. Lined up in all their glory are the track-focused 911 GT3 RS, the razor-sharp Cayman 718 GT4 RS, the revolutionary 911 GTS T-Hybrid, the drop-dead gorgeous 718 Spyder RS, the ballistic Taycan Turbo GT, and the all-electric Macan EV and Cayenne. For any automotive enthusiast, it's pure year, Porsche's World Road Show comes to India, giving media and customers a rare opportunity to experience the brand's cars and cutting-edge technology in both track and off-road conditions. The starting point The day kicks off with a slalom course, and I'm handed the keys to 718 Spyder RS. Typically, convertibles are more for show than go. They tend to be heavier and less agile. But not this one. The Spyder RS lives up to its name—darting side to side with agility and grace through the tight cone course. What looks challenging from the outside becomes a graceful dance behind the wheel. I remember being impressed with the 718 Spyder when I first drove it on the winding Angeles Crest Highway in California, the US. This RS version is sharper, more alive, and eager to play. While I'm usually someone who craves twisty roads and chassis precision over outright acceleration, the Taycan Turbo GT, with the Weissach Package completely, reset my expectations. Launch control engaged—foot on the brake, both paddles pulled—and suddenly, I am catapulted forward in what is faster than an F1 car–0-100 km/h in 2.2 seconds. That's not acceleration, that's teleportation. My insides are pinned to the seatback, and before my brain can catch up, it's time to stomp on the brakes. This is amusement-park thrill meets German engineering precision. What makes it even more addictive is how effortless it is to repeat the process—each time it delivers the same heart-pounding rush, leaving me grinning like a kid. Next up is the Cayman GT4 RS, and it's immediately clear why this mid-engined marvel is a driver's favourite. It is razor-sharp, perfectly balanced and incredibly forgiving—a car that flatters the driver while encouraging them to push harder. It may not be the fastest in a straight line, but it's easily the most fun. You can lay down every bit of its power with full confidence. Even with the punishing heat, Porsche's performance machines keep going strong—lap after lap, launch after launch—without a hint of overheating or fatigue. That's impressive engineering. Need for speed The real surprise of the day comes in the form of the new 911 GTS T-Hybrid—Porsche's first hybrid 911. Under the hood is a 3.6-litre turbocharged flat-six paired with an electric turbo and motor, producing 541 hp and 610 Nm of torque. The power delivery is seamless, with instant bursts of acceleration at the slightest flex of the right foot. Blasting down the back straight of the Buddh Circuit, I glance at the digital speedometer—230 km/h and climbing—before having to brake for the next corner. I'm reeling in the car ahead with astonishing pace—and it's a GT3 RS. The hybrid system isn't about saving the planet here; it's about maximizing performance, and it delivers in spades. Handling is equally mind-blowing—sharp, precise, and composed. This isn't just a faster 911; it's a smarter, sharper one. The day ends with the EVs and a demonstration of the Cayenne's off-road prowess. On a rugged dirt course filled with steep ascents, deep ruts, and tricky side angles, the Cayenne cruises through like it's taking a casual Sunday drive. From the cabin, it feels almost too smooth—I joke with the instructor that we should've walked the course just to see how intense it actually was. The Cayenne just makes it look too easy. With the World Road Show, Porsche sets out to impress—and they absolutely do. It's not just about horsepower or lap times. It's about creating machines that thrill, inspire, and surprise. And on a blazing day in Delhi, they've delivered exactly that. Renuka Kirpalani is consulting editor, Autocar India.

Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi & Al Ain Leads Region with First Manthey Kit Installation on 911 GT3 RS - Middle East Business News and Information
In a first for the region, Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi and Al Ain have installed the highly coveted Manthey Performance Kit on the 911 GT3 RS (type 992). This marks a key achievement in technical capability and high-performance service. Developed by Manthey Racing in close collaboration with Porsche, the Manthey Performance Kit is a factory-approved set of upgrades designed to significantly enhance the track capability of Porsche GT vehicles while remaining fully road legal. The package improves aerodynamics, chassis responsiveness and overall driving dynamics, transforming an already exceptional sports car into an even more formidable performance machine. 'We are proud to be among the first Porsche Centres in the region to install the Manthey Performance Kit on the 911 GT3 RS,' said Patrick Wolfram, Aftersales Manager at Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. 'This achievement reflects our team's technical expertise and our ongoing commitment to delivering motorsport-level performance with the precision and assurance of Porsche-certified installation. It demonstrates our dedication to bringing world-class enhancements to the local Porsche community.' The Manthey Kit includes a comprehensive suite of aerodynamic enhancements that make the car immediately recognisable. At the front, a reworked spoiler lip with an enlarged wing profile, reinforced with carbon fibre elements. New wheel arch Gurney flaps and dive planes on either side of the bumper help increase downforce over the front axle. The rear section features a carbon fibre shark fin, adapted from the World Sportscar Championship–winning 963, mounted on a lightweight carbon fibre rear window panel that is 25% lighter. Combined with a split carbon fibre DRS wing element, wider rear diffuser, and aerodisc wheel covers, these additions generate over 1,000kg of downforce at 285 km/h. Additional upgrades include semi-active coil-over suspension with spring rates (30% front, 15% rear), racing brake pads, and steel-sheathed brake lines for vehicles equipped with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). The enhancements elevate on-track performance and allow for aesthetic personalisation, making the car as visually distinct as it is dynamically capable. All installations are carried out by Porsche-certified technicians, ensuring that customers benefit from the highest levels of quality, safety, and authenticity. The successful installation underscores Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi and Al Ain's position at the forefront of innovation, performance, and customer experience in the region.

Porsche's $290K Collector Car Just Had a Very Human Error
Launched in 2023 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the legendary 911, the Porsche 911 S/T is one of the most exclusive modern Porsches ever built. With just 1,963 units produced – a nod to the model's debut year – the S/T is a purist's and collector's dream. It pairs the 911 GT3 RS engine with a six-speed manual transmission, and thanks to weight-saving measures, it stands as one of the lightest 911s of the 992 generation. Its base price of $290,000 didn't stop well-heeled collectors from optioning theirs up well past that mark. For collectors, part of the appeal lies in the limited-run serial plaque that comes with each unit, serving as a tangible reminder of exclusivity. But that sense of uniqueness has been shaken after a pair of 911 S/Ts were spotted online – both bearing the same production number: 1,724 of 1,963. Located in Guatemala, one of the cars was finished in Shore Blue launch. It was shared on an enthusiast Instagram page nearly a year ago, clearly showing its dash badge. The second car, a Sonderwunsch commission in a custom Rose Red finish, recently appeared at a German Porsche dealership. In a video, its badge also reads "1,724 of 1,963." Porsche has confirmed the manufacturing glitch in a statement to CarBuzz. A representative from the brand confirmed that the duplication of the plaques was an accident. The automaker also assured that it is now working with the customer with the incorrect plaque. However, it was not confirmed which of the two 911 S/Ts had the wrong identifier. While unusual, the good news is that the mix-up seems confined to the serial number plaque, which is just a cosmetic feature. Both vehicles still retain their unique VINs, which are the actual legal identifiers for the cars. In all likelihood, the problem stems from a simple assembly line or parts inventory error. Still, when it comes to highly personalized cars like the 911 S/T, especially ones involving Porsche's bespoke Sonderwunsch program, a duplicated plaque is the sort of detail that makes owners raise an eyebrow, even if it doesn't affect the car's mechanical integrity or value. Manufacturing mistakes aren't new, even for brands with reputations as sterling as Porsche's. From misapplied badges to much more serious issues like powertrain defects or faulty airbags, human error is part of production reality. In this case, the error is largely harmless – an amusing footnote in the car's history rather than a safety concern. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
