PAPAR (July 16): The development of Benoni New Township has generated approximately 3,000 job opportunities for the local community, said WSG Group Managing Director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen. Susan shared that businesses operating in the Benoni Commercial Centre and Parklane City predominantly employ locals. For instance, the recently opened DOJO Nanyang Kopi House and A&W outlet at Parklane City have each hired over 50 Paparians. 'We have more than 300 shops operating in Parklane City and Benoni Commercial Centre,' she said. 'There are more than 3,000 job opportunities created at Benoni New Township.' She was speaking to the media during the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Mini Carnival and Rahmah Madani Sales Programme held at Parklane City on Wednesday. The event was officiated by Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali. The event also marked a historic moment for Papar, with the premiere of the Malaysian film Impak Maksima 2 held at 10Star Cinemas in Parklane City — the first movie premiere ever hosted in the area. Susan expressed her pride that the township her company developed could host both the carnival and the film premiere. 'This is the first time that a movie premiere was held right here in Parklane City, Papar,' she said. With government support, she added, WSG Group was able to develop the township with modern amenities. These include well-known F&B outlets like A&W, McDonald's and KFC, as well as financial institutions such as Koperasi Co-opbank Pertama Malaysia Berhad (CBP), with Affin Bank and Maybank set to open soon. Susan also highlighted the ongoing development of Parklane Residences Lifestyle Condominium, with units starting from RM246,000. She noted that the township's amenities such as F&B outlets, reflexology centres, hair salons and a cinema, have been drawing visitors, particularly from Brunei. Susan expressed hope that more government events would be organised in Parklane City in the future. Looking ahead, she announced that a new petrol station will be developed in the township and confirmed that Parkson has agreed to establish a presence in the upcoming shopping mall. Additionally, WSG Group is in discussions with a higher learning institution to open a branch campus in Parklane City. Also present at the event were Limbahau assemblyman Datuk Juil Nuatim and 10Star Cinemas Sdn Bhd CEO Onn Norshal Hamzah.
