Bologna becomes the first Italian city, and one of the first 10 worldwide, to welcome Emirates' new A350

Post Views: 31 Emirates marks the arrival of its new-generation A350 aircraft at Bologna's Guglielmo Marconi Airport. With this milestone, Bologna becomes the first Italian city – and one of the first ten worldwide – to welcome the Emirates A350, marking a new chapter in the direct connection between the capital of Emilia-Romagna and Dubai. Emirates selected Bologna as one of the first airports in the world to welcome the new Airbus A350, recognizing its strategic location – Marconi Airport is in fact a key regional hub that serves a much wider area beyond the city itself, including Modena, Parma, Ferrara, and Rimini – the efficiency of its infrastructure, and the dynamism of its local economy. This choice reaffirms the value of a solid, decade-long partnership, which began in 2015 with the launch of the direct flight to Dubai and has since been strengthened through a series of significant achievements. 'We're pleased to be back here to celebrate an important milestone that confirms the strategic role of this gateway within Emirates' global network' – said Flavio Ghiringhelli, Country Manager of Emirates in Italy. 'Our partnership with Bologna is a story of shared success and steady growth. Just last year, we joined the airport in celebrating the 10-million-passenger milestone, and two years ago we celebrated together the one-millionth Emirates passenger flying through this gateway. Today, we mark a new chapter with the arrival of the A350, a true symbol of innovation and excellence. We firmly believe that this next-generation aircraft will not only enhance the travel experience for our passengers but also act as a catalyst for increased commercial and cultural exchanges, further strengthening the ties between Bologna, Italy, and the rest of the world'. Today, Emirates remains the only carrier to operate a direct flight between Bologna and Dubai, the airline's strategic international hub connecting five continents and serving 150 destinations. 'We are delighted – said Nazareno Ventola, CEO of Bologna Airport – to be alongside Emirates to celebrate the arrival of its A350 in Bologna. It is truly an honour and a privilege to have been chosen by Emirates as the first airport in Italy to operate this aircraft, a symbol of innovation and highest level of service quality, on its daily direct flight to Dubai. Our collaboration with Emirates turns 10 this year and is truly a success story, a partnership that has improved the connectivity of Bologna and the Region to the World, particularly to the Middle East and Far East'. The arrival of the A350 marks the introduction of a new aircraft into the Emirates fleet – the first in over 15 years – and represents a significant milestone that reinforces the airline's commitment to innovation, sustainability and passenger comfort. Featuring a three-class cabin configuration, the new Airbus accommodates up to 312 passengers: 32 next-generation Business Class seats, 21 Premium Economy seats and 259 Economy Class seats, offering generous space and comfort ideal for medium- and long-haul routes. Quiet, technologically advanced, and designed to enhance the flying experience, the Emirates A350 introduces Premium Economy on this route for the first time: a travel class that combines elegance and accessibility. With more spacious seats, dedicated service, and refined details, this class is ideal for those seeking a sophisticated journey without sacrificing practicality, an experience that meets the growing global demand for comfort and quality. Each Premium Economy seat is designed to offer a distinctive and superior standard: elegant design, generous legroom, wide seats suitable for work or relaxation, individual power outlets, and a convenient side table. The experience is completed by meticulously curated service, gourmet menus inspired by regional culinary traditions, a rich selection of beverages – including Chandon Vintage Brut 2016, a global exclusive for Emirates Premium Economy passengers – dedicated amenity kits, and access to the award-winning ice inflight entertainment system, featuring over 6,500 on-demand channels in more than 40 languages. Premium Economy is not only available on the A350 but also serves over 60 destinations worldwide, thanks to Emirates' $5 billion fleet modernization program that is introducing this travel class on its A380 and B777 aircraft. This is why you can also enjoy Premium Economy from Milan Malpensa, now the second Italian gateway to feature Emirates' new cabins. This marks another step forward for the airline, which continues to invest in expanding its premium options and offering travellers increasingly personalized and high-quality flight experiences. Emirates remains a fundamental pillar of Italian air connectivity, operating through four strategic gateways that link Italy to the vibrant hub of Dubai and the airline's extensive global network. From Bologna Airport, flight EK094 departs daily, arriving in Dubai at 23:30 local time, while flight EK093 departs daily from Dubai at 09:20, arriving in Bologna at 14:40 (all times are local). This daily Bologna service perfectly complements other Italian routes: two daily flights from Milan, three from Rome, and one daily flight from Venice. This widespread presence brings the total number of weekly Emirates flights from Italy to Dubai to 49, offering travellers great choice and flexibility. Adding to this offering are seven weekly flights from Milan to New York, further consolidating Italy's role as a crucial hub for intercontinental connections.

Did A 17-Year-Old From Bihar Build A Plane For Rs 7,000? A Fact Check

A video claiming that a teenager from Bihar built a working aircraft using scrap in seven days is going viral on social media. The clip shows a man flying in a self-made aircraft, which has a rotating fan at the rear, lifting off the ground in a rural setting. Posts on platforms like X, Instagram, and Facebook identify the man as 17-year-old Avanish Kumar from Muzaffarpur. The viral story claims he built the aircraft without any formal training, using only Rs 7,000 and basic tools. Users widely praised the claim, calling the teen a "future scientist" and celebrating his supposed innovation. BIG NEWS ???? Avanish Kumar, a teenager from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, builds a flying plane using only scrap materials, in just one week. He created the aircraft in just one week at a cost of only ₹7,000. Videos of the small aircraft taking off have gone viral, earning him praise for… — Times Algebra (@TimesAlgebraIND) July 28, 2025 This claim is entirely false. A detailed fact-check reveals the video is not from India, and the person seen flying the aircraft is not Avanish Kumar. The footage is actually from Manikganj, Bangladesh, and features Julhas Molla, a 28-year-old self-taught electronic mechanic. The video, dated March 4, 2025, documents Mr Molla's successful flight of an ultralight aircraft that he designed and built over a year. His achievement was reported by several credible Bangladeshi news outlets. Who is Julhas Molla? Julhas Molla is from Shaitgar Teota village in Shibalaya upazila, Manikganj district, Bangladesh. A college dropout due to financial difficulties, he has been working as an electrician in Dhaka. Despite lacking formal training in aeronautics or engineering, Mr Molla has spent the last four years learning aircraft mechanics through YouTube and hands-on experimentation with remote-controlled planes. "After my SSC, I had to start working as an electrical mechanic in Dhaka. About four years ago, I developed an interest in making an aeroplane using small remote controls. Later, I dreamt of building an ultralight aircraft, but my initial attempts were unsuccessful," he told The Daily Star. The handmade aircraft weighs over 100 kg and runs on a 7-horsepower water pump engine that uses petrol or octane. Built with limited funds, the plane is made from aluminium, stainless steel, and iron. It has a wingspan of 32 feet and is 18 feet long. During its test flight, the aircraft reached a height of 50 feet. It takes off at around 45 kmph and can fly at speeds up to 70 kmph. It consumes one litre of fuel for every 25 to 30 km. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tewodros Solomon | A350 Captain (@captain_tewodros) Julhas Molla didn't build his aircraft overnight, and he didn't make it for commercial use. In 2024, his first attempt lifted about 10 to 12 feet off the ground but it wasn't safe enough. So, he dismantled it and spent a year redesigning and rebuilding it. In early 2025, his new version flew successfully. Thousands of people, including government officials and aviation enthusiasts, watched the test flight. He made it clear that the flight was only experimental, and he kept the altitude below 50 feet on purpose for safety. "I didn't try to fly it higher than 50 feet because this was just an experimental flight. But if I get the support, I believe I can improve the design and make it even more functional," he said.

Why Hexcel (HXL) Shares Are Falling Today

What Happened? Shares of aerospace and defense company Hexcel (NYSE:HXL) fell 3.2% in the afternoon session after the company reported second-quarter 2025 financial results that showed year-over-year declines in revenue and profit. The aerospace materials supplier's sales fell 2.1% to $490 million compared to the prior-year quarter. Adjusted earnings per share also decreased to $0.50 from $0.60. The company's profitability took a hit as gross margins contracted to 22.8% from 25.3%, which Hexcel attributed to lower production and inventory reduction efforts. Furthermore, operating income plunged by 58.2%, impacted by a $24.2 million restructuring charge related to a facility closure. Despite the yearly declines, both revenue and adjusted earnings per share did manage to beat Wall Street expectations for the quarter. The company also maintained its full-year guidance. The stock market overreacts to news, and big price drops can present good opportunities to buy high-quality stocks. Is now the time to buy Hexcel? Access our full analysis report here, it's free. What Is The Market Telling Us Hexcel's shares are not very volatile and have only had 3 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today's move indicates the market considers this news meaningful, although it might not be something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business. The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 3 months ago when the stock dropped 9.9% on the news that the company reported weak first quarter 2025 results. Its revenue, EPS, and EBITDA missed analysts' estimates. Hexcel also cut its full-year revenue and profit forecasts in response to continued supply chain delays. A key concern was the commercial aerospace sales which dropped over 6%, hit hard by slower production on jets like the 787 and A350. That dragged overall sales down 3%, and profits dropped too, with lower volumes making it harder to cover fixed costs. Defense and space did okay, up almost 3%, but that just wasn't enough to balance out the hit in commercial. Overall, this quarter could have been better. Hexcel is down 1.5% since the beginning of the year, and at $60.85 per share, it is trading 13.9% below its 52-week high of $70.69 from January 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Hexcel's shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,363. Airbus workers vote to strike in pay dispute

Airbus workers have voted to strike in a dispute over pay. More than 3,000 aircraft fitters and engineers at Broughton in Flintshire and Filton near Bristol, were balloted by the union Unite. The highly skilled workers play a critical role in the production of aircraft wings for the hugely successful A320 family, A330, A350 and A400M military transport aircraft - core programmes in Airbus's global operations. But the Unite union has been in dispute with the aerospace giant over the latest pay offer. This saw a ballot called over potential industrial action. The result has now been returned with 95% of union members voting in favour of strikes on an 80% turnout. The union says it hopes Airbus will return to the negotiating table and a mutually acceptable agreement can be reached. It is reported that potential strike action could start in September, although no date has been confirmed. Rhys McCarthy, Unite national officer for aerospace, said: "This overwhelming vote in favour of strike action shows the depth of anger that our members have over the poor pay offer from Airbus. It is not too late to avoid industrial action if they get back around the negotiating table with a new offer that is acceptable to our members. Otherwise they will see that anger first-hand on the picket line." Sue Partridge, Airbus UK Country Manager Commercial Aircraft, said: "We have made a competitive and fair pay offer in 2025 that builds on the strong foundations of pay increases totalling over 20% in the last three years. We have not been formally notified of any industrial action and we are open to further dialogue with Unite in order to find a way forward."
