Man arrested after cyclist killed in collision near pub
A man has been arrested after a cyclist died in a collision in Worcester in the early hours of Sunday morning. West Mercia Police received a report around 5am that a white and blue Dacia travelling towards Droitwich on the A38 had collided with a cyclist nearby the Copcut Elm Pub. The cyclist, a man in his thiries, died at the scene. A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody. Sergeant Darryn Van-Rooyen, from the force's Roads Policing team, said: 'Our thoughts are with the man's family following this morning's collision. 'We're currently carrying out a number of enquiries and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen either the bicycle or the car beforehand,' he added.

Kids 'as young as 11' throw objects off bridge over A38 as descriptions released
Police have issued a witness appeal after objects were reportedly thrown off a bridge over a main road in the West Midlands. West Mercia Police said objects were flung from a bridge over the A38 in Rubery this week. The force has identified three people they wish to speak to and have urgently asked anyone who was travelling along the A38 on Tuesday evening to get in touch with any information. A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses after objects were thrown from a bridge over the A38 in Rubery causing damage to a vehicle. "The incident happened on Tuesday (July 22) between 6pm and 6.10pm as the vehicle travelled under the bridge. "The objects were thrown from the bridge on Callowbridge Road as it goes over the A38. "Following enquiries, officers believe there to be three suspects, who are described as being between the ages of 11 and 16 years old. "Two were wearing dark clothing and the third is described as wearing a black and bright cyan blue top and shorts. "Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along the A38 or Callowbridge Road around the time of the incident, who may have seen any suspicious activity or has dashcam footage. "Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Neil Clayton by emailing quoting incident number 443i of July 22, 2025."

Devon crash leaves two teens with life-changing injuries
Five teenage boys were injured, two seriously, after a car crashed into a parked van in Devon, police have crash on the A38 near Uffculme happened at about 03:00 BST on Saturday, said the Devon and Cornwall said a black Peugeot car crashed into a white Peugeot van, which was unoccupied, near Waterloo Cross. All five people in the car, males aged 17, were treated in hospital for injuries with two suffering "potentially life-changing injuries", said officers. A 17-year-old boy from the Tiverton area was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and driving while unfit through drink. He has been released on bail pending further A38 was closed in both directions for several hours while forensic collision investigators examined the scene and it reopened shortly after 13:00 and Cornwall Police appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

M5 and A38 traffic: Smoke from blaze causes long delays on roads
Plumes of grey smoke from a tyre fire caused long delays on a motorway during rush hour. The blaze resulted in queues in both directions of the M5 at junction 12 in Gloucestershire, with traffic being held briefly at 17:10 BST by emergency nearby A38 Bristol Road remains blocked in both directions, according to traffic monitoring website Inrix. Firefighters were called at 16:32 BST to tackle the blaze, which is believed to have started at Hiltmead Lane.
