Rashmika Mandanna To Play Negative Role In Allu Arjun, Atlee's AA22XA6: Report
Joining Allu Arjun in key roles are Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor, and Mrunal Thakur. Rashmika Mandanna is currently busy with her film shoots. Amid this, it is being reported that the actress is all set to take on the role of an antagonist for the very first time in the upcoming high-octane action entertainer AA22XA6. Directed by Atlee and starring superstar Allu Arjun in the lead, the film has been generating massive buzz, and this latest development has only added to the excitement. Times Now has quoted Bollywood Hungama's source saying, 'Rashmika had the option to play the antagonist in A6 or take up a similar role in another major Pan India film. After carefully considering both parts, she chose A6 because the character offered her the opportunity to explore new, uncharted territory as an actor." Reportedly, Rashmika has already completed her look test for the film and is gearing up to begin shooting from October onwards. She recently travelled to Los Angeles alongside director Atlee and Allu Arjun, where she was introduced to the pre-visualisation (pre-viz) sequences for her character. The upcoming film is being positioned as a global spectacle, with a massive budget and scale that aims to push the boundaries of Indian filmmaking. A source close to the production told Pinkvilla, 'Rashmika Mandanna has come on board Atlee's ambitious film. The actress will be seen in one of the most daring roles of her career. The dynamics of Rashmika and Allu will be very different from what they shared in Pushpa franchise." Joining Allu Arjun in key roles are Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor, and Mrunal Thakur. Backed by Sun Pictures, the project is expected to complete filming by the second half of 2026, with post-production running parallel to shooting. 'The idea is to have post-production work going on in tandem with the shoot, for the actors to know the output. The team is committed to make a global project, and the release date will be announced with a heavy on visual promo soon," the source said. Driver dies after crash with HGV parked in Garstang layby
A man has died after his van crashed into an HGV tractor unit that was parked in a HGV was close to the Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre on the A6 near Garstang when the crash happened shortly before 04:00 BST on Tuesday, Lancashire Police saidThe Volkswagen van driver, aged in his 30s, suffered series injuries and later died. The HGV driver was not badly are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of what happened to contact the force. The big car making big money for Škoda
This industry, which we all love to be a part of in our different ways, can be puzzling. Why, for example do so few OEMs now offer large sedans, hatchbacks or wagons? They would claim it's a shrinking segment and is mostly for buyers who want a premium brand car such as an E-Class, V90, 5 Series or A6. And yet. Not everybody wants a premium badge Neither Toyota nor Honda nor Geely nor BYD nor Hyundai & Kia nor the Volkswagen Group think they should walk away from the 4.8-5.0m long class. There is a lot of business to be done in this size category and as Škoda knows, many people don't feel connected to luxury nameplates such as Mercedes, Volvo, BMW or Audi. Look around the major markets of the world and we find the Hyundai Grandeur and Kia K5 doing great business in South Korea, while the Toyota Crown series is successful in Japan. Plus the decades-long rivalry of the Accord versus the Camry in the USA and China continues. Not to mention the ongoing big demand for BYD's Qin models and Geely's Xingrui sedan. Yes these segments have contracted but they're still worth being in as the smart companies which remain, know. Škoda Auto is almost gone from China and it's small or non-existent in Asia's other markets of consequence, including India. Conventional logic says it's important to be making it big in such countries. Why then is the Czech OEM setting record profits and selling so many cars in Europe that in *May it passed BMW to become regional number three? Will second placed Toyota be next? And is this company making its best margins from all its small or medium sized cars, SUVs and those pricey-to-develop EVs? Making it big The Superb is in some ways almost a cultish Škoda. It's one of those cars you either know everything about or are ignorant of. Nobody dislikes it. I've lost count of the number of people who've had their minds blown when shown the amount of space inside a Superb of any generation or body style. Now, with the current shape, the interior is more premium than you'll find in most VWs or Audis. Reason being, technology overload is not present. Instead, sensibility, tactility and silence. Everything you could possibly want is there but of things which grate there are none. Want just one example of how intelligently designed the Superb is? To deactivate steering interference there is an actual button which you touch with one finger whilst keeping your right hand on the steering wheel. Overall, nothing beep-nags, everything feels nice and looks great. This, in other words, is a luxury car. OK, the sunroof controls are awful but no worse than what I recently found in an XC90. Nice knobbly knobs A neighbour asked me about the Superb and sighed when I mentioned the touch-sensitive glass roof sliders and inadequate shading from the blind. Lamenting that his ID.3 is as bad, still he loves the car. The VW's swipe-for-volume also frustrates so he was happy to see that it does not exist in the Škoda. An actual knob does that job, the same applying to mirror adjustment. Things which are more neutral rather than rubbish would include what is an overloaded left-hand stalk. I did get used to it, and the right hand one, which selects R, N, D and P, also works well enough. The idea behind each is to liberate space on the central console. Here, you may hide valuables or just be a minimalist by rolling rubbery covers into place. Overall, the interior is way nicer than that of the new Audi A5 and Q5. Some will say ah yes this is a mere niche model. Sure. So then why is it such a strong seller in the two big European countries which have expanding populations, namely Poland and Britain? Or why does it outsell all manner of supposed mainstream models in Germany, including Ford of Europe's best seller, the Puma, or the Mercedes A-Class? Circa 80,000 sold each year Of course this huge car is far from being a six-figures global seller, production volume in 2024 - a changeover year - amounting to 54,500 with 17,400 delivered in Q1 of 2025 (placing it seventh in the brand's 12-model line-up). Yet it has always been an important vehicle, the first generation dating to 1935 and having a fourteen-year production run at the firm's Mladá Boleslav factory. For reasons unknown, the company terms the fifth generation car number four. That's how many evolutions have appeared under Volkswagen ownership, the first new post-WW2 Superb debuting in 2001. Each has been a better seller than its predecessor, the previous-to-current model setting a new record of 805,000 registrations between 2015 and when it was replaced in mid-2024. Build is no longer in the Czech Republic, the 3Y series hatchback and Combi being produced on the same line as the Passat estate at the Volkswagen Group's Bratislava factory. Škoda Auto in fact led the development of both cars, tweaking the FWD/AWD MQB Evo platform in the process. Multiple engines, two dual clutch gearboxes The shift to Slovakia took place not only to save cash by creating a shared manufacturing footprint for the VW and its Škoda twin, but also freed up capacity at Mladá Boleslav for more Octavia production. A move which is presently proving to have been a visionary one. You've a choice of multiple engines and two DSGs with the latest generation Superb. The one I lived with for a week was the iV, which is Škoda-speak for petrol plug-in hybrid. Its transmission has six gears whilst the one in all others has seven. Many more miles on electrons Engine alternatives to the 1.5-litre PHEV are a base mild hybrid of the same capacity, or else a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. With the TSI and TDI there are two power alternatives in each case. The petrol-electric system has had a major makeover, the battery's capacity near-doubling to 25.7 kilowatt hours. That means a realistic range of up to 75 miles, which is…superb. It should be surprising to no-one that this car keeps on keeping on. Not the top seller in its global size class - that title will continue to go to a German premium marque - yet Škoda doesn't mind. Nor is the Superb likely to evolve into an EV for many years yet. Loyal buyers want it to stay much the same as it is: long but not too wide, priced fairly, dynamically comfortable rather than too firmly sprung and not seen on every street. Sum-up This continues to be one of the world's best large cars. How lucky we are to live in the main region where it's available. Tesla is Going to be Jealous of Audi's New In-Dash Gaming
A core memory that I have from my childhood was that nearly every summer, my family would load up our cars and hit the road on hours-long road trips to vacation destinations within and around the northeast. However, this was the early and mid-2000s; the iPhone was years away, and the best built-in in-car entertainment technology at the time was the flip-out DVD players that came on the top-of-the-line versions of minivans like the Chrysler Town and Country and three-row SUVs like the Honda Pilot. Of course, we had none of that. On those trips, I hoped to heaven that my iPod would have enough juice to drown out my mom and my sister shouting directions from a Mapquest printout. However, it's the 21st century, and new digital solutions are keeping passengers from saying 'Are we there yet?' These days, big 'ol screens are in our faces 24/7, and they even dominate the dashboards of our cars. However, Audi is taking advantage of that fact and using it to transform the typical, boring car ride into a shared digital experience with the launch of AirConsole, a gaming platform available in select Audis. As the name suggests, AirConsole is a virtual video game platform that enables occupants to play games directly on the vehicle's infotainment screen by using their smartphones as controllers. This feature is now offered through the Audi Application Store in Audis equipped with Android-based infotainment systems, including the Audi A5, Q5, A6, A6 e-tron, and Q6 e-tron. Once inside the car, players can connect their phones by scanning a QR code on the infotainment screen, which will instantly turn their devices into wireless controllers. Passengers can then enjoy solo or multiplayer sessions on the central display, or, in models equipped with a passenger screen, even keep the games going while the vehicle is in motion. Thanks to Audi's dynamic privacy mode, gameplay stays out of the driver's view to avoid distraction. The available game catalog is expansive, with new additions arriving regularly. These include puzzle, trivia, and even fast-paced party games, like UNO Car Party!, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and Pictionary Car Party, which will be available exclusively to Audi drivers through the end of 2025. Audi's adoption of AirConsole reflects a broader trend in the automotive industry, where automakers find new ways to make cars into personalized digital 'homes away from home.' Although Audi is new to the AirConsole platform, other luxury brands have already adopted it. BMW was the first automaker to integrate AirConsole into its lineup, introducing the feature in its 7 Series and later expanding it to other models, including cars in its MINI brand. However, Tesla pioneered in-car gaming in 2019 with Tesla Arcade. Unlike AirConsole, which features less graphic-heavy, multiplayer-friendly games, Tesla Arcade has more graphic-heavy games and supports external Bluetooth controllers such as those for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Tesla's game catalog includes recognizable titles like Cuphead, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Beach Buggy Racing 2, which even allows players to steer using the actual steering wheel when the car is parked. In the release about this feature, Audi says that AirConsole is another addition to the Audi Application Store, which already has other interactive apps like Spotify, YouTube, and the sports streaming platform DAZN. Personally, I think this sort of integration is kind of cool, though I probably won't be able to fully use it unless I am driving actual children in the car on an extended road trip, or if someone else is driving. Today's kids have it made, but I do think there's a hidden benefit with this sort of integration. The games available on AirConsole include Uno and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, which require thinking and, most importantly, encourage active communication while playing. Say what you will about kids and their phones, but I'd rather be in a car full of energy and interaction than one where each occupant is silent and in their own world. Audi A6 Review 2025
It's the new Audi A7! Except it isn't. You see, Audi's plan was to name its all-electric models using even numbers, while its internal combustion-engined cars would take on the odd numbers. It's why the new petrol and diesel-powered A5 is actually a saloon and estate replacement for the old A4. And yes, the two-door A5 is dead as a result. Unfortunately, after it had made that change to the A4/A5, Audi then agreed with its customers and dealers that this was a stupid idea, so it announced that it would return to its old system… starting with the new A6. Advertisement - Page continues below So, the A6 is just an internal combustion car still? Erm, no. There are now many flavours of A6, with the A6 e-tron all-electric version that's available as a super slippery Sportback or a more practical Avant. We've covered both of those off in a separate review that you can find by clicking these words. On these pages we will just focus on the combustion-engined Sixes in Saloon and Avant form, although before you head off to the full EV it's probably worth noting that there is a plug-in hybrid A6 on the way that'll manage 66 miles of electric range as an Avant and 69 miles as a Saloon. Impressive. What other engines can I have? This oily A6 still comes in both petrol and diesel forms, but on UK shores you only get the option of 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot engines. You'll get a seven-speed auto gearbox and 201bhp no matter which fuel type you pick, although the diesel gets mild-hybrid tech, quattro all-wheel drive and 295lb ft of torque, while the petrol makes do with front-wheel drive and 251lb ft. What else is new? Well, the first thing to note is that this car looks quite different to the A6 e-tron. The EV is based on an entirely different platform and gets split headlights, a closed-off 'grille' and the option of cameras for wing mirrors. Advertisement - Page continues below The combustion-engined A6 is slightly more conventional, although it's still super streamlined and manages a drag coefficient of 0.23Cd in saloon form and 0.25 as an estate. You'll notice the slimmer lights compared to the previous gen, plus the giant new air intakes in the front bumper, the flush door handles and the lack of chrome trim. It's also slightly longer than before. The saloon gets a little 'notchback' spoiler and the rear lights on both now include a full-width lightbar and strange little fang-like brake lights that hang down and look a little bit like fake vents until they're illuminated. We like the design overall, but that final detail doesn't really work to our eyes. What's it like inside? Hope you like screens. The A6 is full of 'em, with an 11.9in 'Audi Virtual Cockpit' driver display and a giant 14.5in central touchscreen merged together in a curved dash unit. There's also a configurable head-up display and an optional 10.9in touchscreen for the front seat passenger. Want to know more? Click through to the interior tab of this review. How much will it cost me? Great question. Prices currently start at £50,560 for the petrol-powered saloon, or £54,830 if you want the same shape and the hybridised diesel engine. The Avant is £52,510 as a TFSI and £56,780 in TDI form. What's the verdict? ' Audi knows how to play the large exec game, although this one does feel a little underpowered at times ' Can we all just take a moment to thank Audi for not calling this the A7? We're only just getting over the confusion caused by the new A5. Now that's out of the way, we can conclude that the new combustion-powered A6 is an attractive thing that works from most angles. We're not completely sold on those new rear lights and the interior is a bit of a tech fest, but generally this is a smart-looking saloon or estate. It's a bit of a shame that it borrows its engines from the A5 and Q5 and isn't offered with six-cylinders on our shores, because fully-loaded even the torquier diesel feels a bit stretched. But keep things sedate and this can be a properly comfortable cruiser. Loads of space for dogs in the Avant too – which of course is always the most important metric to judge these things by.
