Ludhiana: Oppn slams AAP govt as Punjab Inc pledges ₹15,000 crore to MP
An investment outreach hosted by Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav in Ludhiana, which saw Punjab-based industrialists pledging ₹15,000 crore for projects in the central Indian state, has sparked sharp political reactions in Punjab. Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring hit out against the state government through an X post. (HT) Opposition leaders accused the AAP-led Punjab government of driving away investment by failing to provide a secure and conducive environment for industrial growth. 'What an irony @BhagwantMann Sahab,' Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring posted on X. 'While you were celebrating the appointment of Punjab industry minister in Ludhiana, a Ludhiana industrialist himself elected recently in a by-election, the industrialists of Punjab, mostly from Ludhiana, were committing investment worth ₹15,000 crire to Madhya Pradesh CM @DrMohanYadav51 at the same place at the same time. Speaks volumes about credibility of the @AAPPunjab government,' he remarked. From the BJP camp, Anil Sareen, state general secretary, pointed to policy gaps and inadequate industrial infrastructure. 'While other states are offering incentives like cheaper land and tax breaks, Ludhiana's industrial land prices are unaffordable. Add to that the deteriorating law and order situation—no wonder industries are looking elsewhere,' he stated. Gurmeet Singh Kular, president of the Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisation (FICO), pointed out that Madhya Pradesh was procuring 5 lakh bicycles for free distribution to schoolgirls, a major boost for Ludhiana's cycle industry. 'CM Mohan Yadav has also invited us to set up a full manufacturing unit in Bhopal or Indore, with future government procurement to come from there,' Kular said.

He noted that AAP leaders are highlighting the party's achievements such as Mohalla Clinics, improved govt schools and Schools of Eminence, 54,000 jobs provided without corruption, industrial growth, and anti-drug efforts. "In addition to showcasing the govt's performance, the campaign is being framed as a contest between love and arrogance — AAPs candidate symbolising love, while the opponent representing anger and high-handedness," Goyal said. He added that the presence of senior leaders from Delhi and other regions has energised the campaign and helped communicate AAP's agenda effectively. Box 1: What has Sisodia been saying in public meetings? In one of the public meetings held in Ward Numbers 53, 58, and 73, Manish Sisodia emphasised that the Ludhiana West by-election is a contest between arrogance and humility. In another meeting, he praised Sanjeev Arora's dedication and highlighted his "remarkable"effort in raising Rs 12 crore to secure a life-saving injection for a child suffering from a rare disease. Box 2: Vote wisely: Atishi Former Delhi CM, Atishi, while addressing the voters in Ludhiana West in a public meeting, recently said, "At election time, many make false promises, but once the vote is cast, it cannot be changed. That's why it's crucial to vote wisely and choose someone who will deliver results," Atishi remarked, emphasising that only AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora is capable of working for the betterment of Ludhiana West. Comparing candidates, Atishi said, "Ashu frequently engages in arguments and personal attacks against CM Bhagwant Mann. A leader constantly at odds with the govt cannot bring development to the constituency." MSID:: 121888388 413 |
