's much-anticipated period action drama 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' has not only been in the news for its grand visuals or lengthy production schedules, but also came into the spotlight after netizens raised questions about historical accuracy.
Responding to this, the producer of the film, AM Ratnam, gave clarification.
Recently, a discussion started online after some netizens pointed out some factual inconsistencies in the film's timeline. Some X users questioned the timeline of the movie, mentioning that Veera Mallu reportedly died in the 1300s, while the Charminar was built in the 1500s, and Aurangzeb's invasion of Golconda occurred in the 1600s. The post added, "Where is the accuracy? I want accuracy"
In a recent interview with ABN Telugu, AM Ratnam addressed the issue that 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' is not a biopic or a direct historical retelling, but rather a fictional story set during the Mughal era.
He explained that the titular character, Veera Mallu, is a warrior created for the film's story, placed in a time when diamond mining was flourishing in India. Within this fictional framework, Veera Mallu is tasked with stealing the famed Kohinoor diamond, bringing him into conflict with historical figures like Aurangzeb.
The filmmaker shared that the film does not aim to misrepresent facts but instead presents a fictional story inspired by the socio-political backdrop of the Mughal period.
