Excise sleuths bust three illegal liquor networks, 1,247 fake bottles seized in VIjayawada

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh excise officials, under the guidance of Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena and supervision of Commissioner Nishant Kumar and Enforcement Director Rahuldev Sharma, have dismantled three illegal liquor manufacturing and distribution networks in West Godavari, Konaseema and Anakapalle districts. The operations led to the seizure of significant quantities of spirit, spurious liquor, raw materials and equipment, along with the arrest of multiple key operatives and suppliers. Prohibition and Excise officials from Amalapuram and Kakinada, with a coordinated strategy, raided a large-scale spurious liquor production facility in Komaragiripatnam village of Allavaram mandal. Seized items included 1,065 litres of spirit, 125 PET bottles labelled 'AC Black', sealing machinery, fake caps, labels and caramel used for manufacturing. Eight individuals, including Neredumilli Subrahmanyam and Chavvakula Premkumar, also known as Babloo, were arrested. Building on leads from the Konaseema raid, officials raided another illegal unit within the Palakollu P&E station limits of West Godavari district. This facility was involved in manufacturing and bottling spurious liquor, with significant quantities of rectified spirit, glycerine, caramel, and artificial flavouring agents seized. Key accused Puli Roshani Sheetal and Borra Satya Apparao were arrested. In a separate operation, excise officials uncovered a spurious liquor distribution network operating from two locations in Payakaraopeta of Anakapalle district: a coconut farm near Srirampuram-Kesavaram Road and a godown owned by Vijayalaxmi Traders in Chebrolu. The seizure included 1,247 counterfeit bottles, motorcycles and cellphones. Four individuals, including Raparthi Apparao and Ganasala Sesharao, were taken into custody.

Amalapuram: In a major operation to curb the menace of illicit liquor, Andhra Pradesh Excise Department officials busted three spurious liquor manufacturing and distribution networks across Konaseema, West Godavari, and Anakapalli districts. The raids were conducted under the guidance of Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena and the supervision of Commissioner Nishant Kumar and Enforcement Director Rahuldev Sharma. In the first operation, officials from Amalapuram and Kakinada carried out a joint raid at Komaragiripatnam village in Allavaram mandal, Konaseema district. A large-scale illegal liquor manufacturing unit was found operating with 1,065 litres of spirit, 125 PET bottles labelled as 'AC Black', sealing machinery, fake caps, labels, and caramel used for liquor production. Eight persons, including Neredumilli Subrahmanyam and Chavvakula Premkumar alias Babloo, were arrested at the scene. Based on leads from the Konaseema raid, another unit was traced to Palakol in the West Godavari district. This facility was engaged in bottling spurious liquor using rectified spirit, glycerine, caramel, and artificial flavours. Jagatjit Industries slips into red in Q4 with Rs 8.8 crore loss; FY25 ends with Rs 23 crore net loss

New Delhi: Jagatjit Industries has posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 8.8 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2025. It had reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 2 crore in the same period last year, as revenue and margins took a hit, according to its regulatory filing on Saturday. Its revenue from operations during the quarter declined 17 per cent year-on-year to Rs 150.6 crore, as demand pressures weighed on volumes. Total expenses stood at Rs 166.32 crore, up slightly from Rs 166.28 crore a year ago, primarily due to higher excise duty and employee costs. Gross margin contraction and elevated finance costs, which came in at Rs 7.4 crore for the quarter, also contributed to the weaker earnings. For the full fiscal year FY25, the company reported a net loss of Rs 23.5 crore, against a profit of Rs 7.6 crore in FY24. Annual revenue from operations declined 9 per cent to Rs 642.3 crore, down from Rs 708.2 crore in the previous year, as per the BSE filing. Full-year EBITDA was impacted by persistent cost pressures and a muted consumption environment. Finance costs rose to Rs 28.2 crore from Rs 26 crore last year, while other income increased marginally to Rs 28.1 crore. The company also reported a loss of Rs 0.3 crore from discontinued operations in FY25. Jagatjit Industries, known for its liquor brands such as Aristocrat and AC Black, continues to face headwinds in maintaining profitability amid inflationary pressures and subdued consumer sentiment.
