ESPN pundit sets expectations for Bill Belichick in 1st year with UNC
UNC has lofty expectations going into the 2025 season with Bill Belichick as its new coach.
For one longtime radio host and ESPN college football analyst, he believes the Tar Heels will improve upon their 6-7 season in 2024, but doesn't expect them to reach the ACC Championship Game.

'I do think Bill Belichick is going to elevate this program,' Finebaum said recently on ESPN's 'Get Up.' 'It's been dormant for awhile and it's time to regenerate. North Carolina is a very good football school. And I know that surprises most people, probably even including in the Tar Heel State.
'Eight wins is very doable,' he continued. 'Maybe more if he gets lucky.'
Belichick has never coached at the college level, but had plenty of success over his near five-decade in the NFL that included eight Super Bowl championships — six as coach of the New England Patriots.
Aside from a new gig, Belichick has often been in the spotlight due to his relationship with Jordon Hudson —who drew the ire of Finebaum recently for being a distraction.

'That's been the distracting story all offseason,' Finebaum said in June. 'He has fired coaches, gotten rid of great players, he separated from the greatest quarterback of all-time — it's time for Bill Belichick to fire his girlfriend.'
Hudson does not have an official title nor is she employed by UNC.
Belichick's first season with the Tar Heels officially kicks off on Sept. 1 at home against TCU.
