LSU baseball transfer portal: Could Tigers add elite west coast infielder?

Fresh off its eighth national championship, LSU baseball is looking to reload in the transfer portal. One major hole to fill is at second base with every starter Daniel Dickinson heading to the MLB. The Tigers have a few options to plug in, but it would serve them better to bring in an experienced addition. Enter Jarren Advincula, who started all but one game in the middle infield for Cal since he stepped on campus. A 2025 second-team All-ACC honoree, he batted .334 with 150 hits and 64 RBI through two seasons with the Bears. The Santa Clara, CA native boasts a .970 fielding percentage over his two years of collegiate baseball. He enjoyed a 22-game hit streak midseason, which included three hits in a win at Duke, and then stroked three hits between Cal's two upsets over Miami and Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament. Advincula has enough quality experience as a hitter and fielder to join LSU's starting lineup. The Tigers already received commitments from transfers Brayden Simpson and Seth Darder, but both are more suited for third base, as is returner Tanner Reaves. LSU has become a premier transfer portal destination, but the Tigers have some competition for Advincula with Tennessee also making a push.

Cooper Flagg family: Who is father Ralph and mother Kelly?

Duke Blue Devils Player Cooper Flagg is the basketball world's latest obsession. He has recently been making headlines for being the projected No.1 pick for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Draft 2025. With his impressive stats from 2024 and record-setting abilities, everyone is wondering where this 18-year-old gets his skills from. Turns out, just one look at the Flagg family tree makes it clear that the sport runs in his blood. File photo of Cooper Flagg(Getty Images via AFP) Ralph Flagg's passion for the sport arose during his time at Nokomis Regional High School and fully blossomed when he started playing college basketball at Eastern Maine Community College. He met his now-wife Kelly shortly after at a basketball court of all places, and the spark between the two was evident from the beginning. The pair wed in the early 2000s and gave birth to a premature set of twins (Hunter and Ryder) on August 4, 2004. However, due to complications, Ryder died two days later, while Hunter remained in the neonatal intensive care unit for 109 days before being discharged. Cooper has always made it a point to credit his father for building his passion and dedication towards basketball. In a January 2025 interview with Blue Devil Nation, Cooper said, 'Getting back in the gym with my dad [is how I stay ready]. I grew up in the gym with my dad. Late nights, early mornings, with him just rebounding for me.' Who is Kelly Bowman, Cooper Flagg's mother? For those who will now be quick to associate Kelly with simply being Cooper's mother, it's important to emphasize her success as a college basketball player back in the 1990s. Her journey with the sport also began at Nokomis Regional High School, where she racked up an impressive 1,257 career points. This love for the sport carried forward during her four years playing for the University of Maine from 1995 to 1999. During this time, she helped her team secure tickets to four NCAA tournaments and captained them during their historic win against arch-nemesis Stanford in the 1999 NCAA Tournament. She later even returned to her high school to coach the varsity girls' team. Ralph spoke about his wife's basketball prowess in a 2024 interview with ESPN, referring to her up-and-under move as 'pretty deadly,' describing her as a 'fierce competitor.' She has championed Cooper's career since the very beginning and makes it a point to always be there to cheer him on. 'I like to sit by the same person or in the same seating order. [Ralph], on game days, he wears anything but Duke gear,' she told People in March 2025. Her love for her son and his sport even landed her in hot water during the ACC Tournament in March 2025, where her celebratory reaction to Cooper making a dunk against the University of North Carolina was considered rude by many fans. She later issued a social media statement on the matter, which read, 'I want to apologize to anyone who was offended by my language that was caught in a celebratory moment. I do realize that it wasn't my best look. [It was] a moment of being so proud of our kid and also a big F-you to the entire Carolina fan base for being classless a-holes.' Who is Cooper Flagg's twin brother? Cooper's twin brother Ace played on the same team at Nokomis Regional High School as him and the two led the team to victory in the state championship along with their elder brother Hunter. Ace helped his team at Montverde Academy in Florida win a state championship two years later and also helped the Greensboro Day School in North Carolina clinch a state title in February 2025. Ace is now playing at the University of Maine while Hunter pursues a degree in sports management there. By Stuti Gupta

With the top two picks all but set, Kon Knueppel just might be the most interesting prospect heading into Wednesday night's NBA Draft festivities. The former Blue Devil is overwhelmingly likely to go in the top five in the eyes of oddsmakers (-1000, DraftKings Sportsbook), but it's still very much up in the air which draft slot he'll go. Knueppel is currently favored to go No. 4 (-145), where the Hornets hold their pick, but I think there's a shot the 6-foot-7 wing could go one slot higher. The Duke product averaged 14.4 points with four rebounds and 2.7 assists per game serving as the Robin to Cooper Flagg's Batman last season. He was one of the top shooters in the country, something that should translate to the NBA right away, shooting 47.9 percent overall, 40.6 percent from 3 and 91.4 percent from the free-throw line. Duke Blue Devils guard Kon Knueppel (7) celebrates their win of the NCAA Division I East Regional Final against the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Prudential Center, Saturday, March 29, 2025, in Newark, NJ. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST After Flagg went down with an ankle sprain in the ACC Tournament, Knueppel proved he could be the hub of an offense, dropping 28 points in the game Flagg went out and averaging 17.5 over the next two tournament games. As one of the most well-rounded, NBA-ready players in this class, let's bet that a team with championship aspirations such as the 76ers will use a high pick and slide Knueppel right into their rotation. Betting on the NBA? VJ Edgecome is the favorite to go in Philadelphia's current slot at No. 3 (-320), but the Knueppel prototype is right up Darryl Morey's alley, setting up for a possible surprise. THE PLAY: Kon Knueppel to go No. 3 in the NBA Draft (+900, DraftKings Sportsbook). Why Trust New York Post Betting Dylan Svoboda is a versatile writer and analyst across many sports. Clemson set to play home-and-home series against Big East basketball brand: report

The Clemson Tigers are reportedly set to begin a home-and-home series with one of the most well-known college basketball programs in the Big East. College hoops analyst Rocco Miller reported Monday that the Tigers will face the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. The Hoyas will play at Clemson's Littlejohn Coliseum in 2026-27, per the report. Georgetown plays its home games at Capital One Arena, the same venue that hosts the NBA's Washington Wizards and NHL's Washington Capitals. Clemson played one game there in the 2024 ACC Tournament where they fell to Boston College. The Tigers and Hoyas have met only one other time in the schools' history: at the Rainbow Classic tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2004. Coach John Thompson's team defeated the Tigers, 75-60, on Dec. 23. Clemson finished the 2024-25 season with a program-record 27 wins and 18 ACC victories. Coach Brad Brownell's Tigers were a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament and fell to McNeese State in a first-round upset on March 20 in Providence, Rhode Island. Clemson finished 27-7 overall and was ranked No. 22 in the final AP Top 25 poll. Georgetown is coming off an 18-16 season. The Hoyas went 8-12 in Big East play in coach Ed Cooley's second season. Clemson basketball 2025-26 schedule Clemson recently learned its opponent for the 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge. For the second time in three years, the Tigers will head to Tuscaloosa to face the Alabama Crimson Tide at Coleman Coliseum. An exact date and start time were not announced. Last season, Clemson upset No. 4 Kentucky, 70-66, in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Dec. 3 at Littlejohn Coliseum. The Tigers will also head to Madison Square Garden to play in this year's Jimmy V Classic. They'll face the Brigham Young Cougars on Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Clemson and BYU have both made the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons. Also on the nonconference schedule is the annual Shriners Children's Charleston Classic in South Carolina. Clemson will join Georgia, Xavier and West Virginia in the first bracket. Boston College, Davidson, Tulane and Utah State will be in a separate bracket at the tournament. Clemson's annual rivalry game against South Carolina is scheduled to return to Littlejohn Coliseum this year. The teams have not announced an official date. Georgia Tech Baseball Lands Top Transfers to Supercharge 2025 Lineup

Georgia Tech Baseball Lands Top Transfers to Supercharge 2025 Lineup originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A New Era is Brewing on the Flats. The buzz is back at Russ Chandler Stadium. Georgia Tech baseball is making noise, but not just with returning stars, but with a trio of transfer portal additions that could push the Jackets into national contention next spring. Advertisement Head coach James Ramsey, known for his sharp eye for talent and relentless recruiting, has reeled in three transfers. It's a statement to the rest of the ACC: Georgia Tech isn't waiting around. They're coming. Ryan Zuckerman: A Power Surge from Pittsburgh The biggest headline? Pittsburgh slugger Ryan Zuckerman, who committed to the Jackets on Monday. A third baseman with a heavy bat and a proven track record, Zuckerman hit .295 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs last season, leading the Panthers in both categories. His presence in the middle of a lineup that already returns Drew Burress, Alex Hernandez, and Caleb Daniel turns a dangerous offense into one of the most feared in college baseball. His on-base percentage (.382) and slugging (.555) show a well-rounded hitter ready to thrive in Atlanta's hitter-friendly park. For a team that ranked among the ACC's top five in runs scored last season, Zuckerman could be the final piece to an Omaha-level lineup. Sophomore outfielder Drew Burress mashes a home run versus Cal during the ACC Tournament Tech Baseball/X Justin Shadek: A Fresh Start on the Mound From Rutgers comes right-hander Justin Shadek, a redshirt freshman with flashes of brilliance and plenty of room to grow. He went 4-5 in 15 appearances with the Scarlet Knights, recording 52 strikeouts but also posting a 7.78 ERA. Advertisement The raw numbers might not scream dominance, but the upside is clear. Shadek has swing-and-miss stuff and experience as a starter in a Power Five program. Ramsey has a reputation for developing arms, and Shadek may be the kind of under-the-radar addition who thrives with better defense, coaching, and run support in Atlanta. Cade Brown: The Local Star Returns Home Perhaps the most intriguing name is Cade Brown, a former Georgia Bulldog who brings elite high school credentials back to the Peach State's capital. Though he played in just 15 games as a freshman in Athens (.171 average, 1 HR), Brown was a prep phenom. He batted .472 with 14 home runs as a senior, earned the MaxPreps Georgia Player of the Year, and was rated the No. 1 third baseman in Georgia by Perfect Game. Advertisement Now under Ramsey's guidance, Brown's return to form could give Tech another high-ceiling bat—and extra motivation against the team he left behind. The Takeaway: Georgia Tech Is Reloading, Fast With Zuckerman's power, Shadek's upside, and Brown's potential, Georgia Tech isn't rebuilding, they're reloading. These additions, paired with a stacked returning core, make it clear: Ramsey and the Yellow Jackets are chasing championships, not just headlines. The road to Omaha starts now. Are you ready?
