Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 15 (ANI): Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has been ranked first in the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ratings in utilities/ power sector by NSE Sustainability Ratings and Analytics Ltd, an entity of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the Adani Group Company said in a statement. Additionally, AGEL is among the top 5 entities in ESG ratings assessed from the top 100 listed companies by revenue across the National Stock Exchange (NSE). NSE recently launched its ESG ratings for listed companies. NSE's Rating rationale states AGEL performed well across Environment, Social and Governance parameters. Environmental initiatives are well-integrated, supported by socially responsible practices and effective governance. It demonstrates a mature sustainability approach. According to NSE Sustainability Ratings and Analytics Ltd, AGEL received an impressive ESG score of 74, the highest within the utilities and power sector. 'This underscores AGEL's commitment to sustainable practices and its continuous efforts to uphold environmental, social, and governance standards,' AGEL statement read. 'AGEL excelled in governance with a score of 76, reflecting the company's robust governance practices, well-organized board structure, and ethical conduct. Its mature approach to risk management further highlights AGEL's commitment to transparency and accountability.' Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, highlighted AGEL's dedication to governance and sustainability, in its 2024-25 Annual report stating, 'Our governance is of global standards, and our compliance frameworks are robust and non-negotiable.' The company also earned a high social score of 73, demonstrating its focus on health and safety measures for employees, customer safety, and community welfare initiatives. 'AGEL's responsible sourcing and efficient supply chain management further reinforced its position as a leader in socially responsible practices,' AGEL statement read. NSE Sustainability Ratings and Analytics Ltd evaluates companies based on over 2,000 data points, providing a transparent and materiality-based methodology aligned with national and international standards. According to the AGEL statement, it ranks No. 1 in Asia and among the Top 5 globally in the renewable energy sector in the highest ESG category, 'Prime Band A-,' with a Decile Rank 1 by ISS ESG. Sustainalytics has ranked AGEL among the Top 10 globally, while the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2023 placed AGEL in the 92nd percentile among 266 companies globally within the Electric Utility sector. Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani earned ₹10.41 crore in the financial year 2024–25, marking a 12 per cent increase from the previous year, as per the latest annual reports of the listed entities of the Adani Group. Despite the increase, the Adani Group chairman's salary remains lower than several of his industry peers and some top executives within his own companies. Gautam Adani, 62, drew remuneration from two out of the nine listed companies in his ports-to-energy conglomerate. This included ₹2.26 crore in salary and ₹28 lakh in perquisites and allowances from Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), and ₹7.87 crore from Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), comprising ₹1.8 crore in salary and ₹6.07 crore in commission. Group executives earn more than Adani Adani's own group executives surpassed him in annual compensation. AEL CEO Vinay Prakash earned ₹69.34 crore in FY25, including ₹4 crore in salary and ₹65.34 crore in perquisites and variable incentives. Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) Managing Director Vneet S Jaain earned ₹11.23 crore, while Group CFO Jugeshinder Singh drew ₹10.4 crore. Several members of the Adani family also feature among the highest earners in the group. Gautam Adani's younger brother Rajesh earned ₹9.87 crore from AEL, nephew Pranav drew ₹7.45 crore, and another nephew Sagar took home ₹7.50 crore from AGEL. Net worth and past fluctuations According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Gautam Adani has a net worth of $82.5 billion. He briefly became Asia's richest person in 2022, but the group's market value dropped sharply following a report by US short-seller Hindenburg Research in 2023.

India's second richest person Gautam Adani received a total remuneration of Rs 10.41 crore in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025, lower than most industry peers and his own key executives. Adani, 62, drew salaries from two out of the nine listed companies in his ports-to-energy conglomerate, the latest annual reports of the listed entities of the group showed. His total remuneration was 12 per cent more than the Rs 9.26 crore he had earned in the previous 2023-24 financial year. His remuneration for 2024-25 from the group's flagship firm Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) included Rs 2.26 crore salary and another Rs 28 lakh in perquisites, allowances and other benefits. The total earnings from AEL at Rs 2.54 crore was higher than Rs 2.46 crore in the previous fiscal. Besides, he drew Rs 7.87 crore from Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) - - Rs 1.8 crore salary and Rs 6.07 crore commission. This compared with Rs 6.8 crore he received from APSEZ in 2023-24. Live Events Adani's salary is lower than the heads of almost all large family-owned conglomerates in India. While the richest Indian, Mukesh Ambani , has been foregoing his entire salary since Covid-19 broke out, prior to which he had capped his remuneration at Rs 15 crore, Adani's remuneration is much lower than telecom czar Sunil Bharti Mittal (Rs 32.27 crore in 2023-24), Rajiv Bajaj (Rs 53.75 crore in FY24), Pawan Munjal (Rs 109 crore in FY24), L&T Chairman S N Subrahmanyan (Rs 76.25 crore in FY25) and Infosys CEO Salil S Parekh (Rs 80.62 crore in FY25). The latest annual reports of Mittal's Bharti Airtel , Munjal's Hero Motocorp and Bajaj Auto are yet to be released. Just like other promoters, Adani also earns from dividends that the group companies may pay on earnings every year. Salary earned by Adani is lower than at least a couple of chief executives of his group companies. AEL CEO Vinay Prakash got Rs 69.34 crore. Prakash's remuneration included Rs 4 crore salary and Rs 65.34 crore in perquisites, allowances and variable incentives "for exceptional operational and financial performance in the mining services and integrated resources management business of the company". Renewable energy firm Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) Managing Director Vneet S Jaain got Rs 11.23 crore, while Group CFO Jugeshinder Singh earned Rs 10.4 crore in FY25. Adani's son Karan received Rs 7.09 crore from APSEZ, while the company CEO Ashwani Gupta earned Rs 10.34 crore. Variable pay for FY25 in both Karan and Gupta's case will be disbursed in FY26, the annual report said. Gautam Adani's younger brother, Rajesh earned Rs 9.87 crore from AEL while his nephew Pranav got Rs 7.45 crore. His other nephew Sagar took home Rs 7.50 crore from AGEL. City gas arm Adani Total Gas CEO Suresh P Manglani was paid Rs 8.21 crore in remuneration for 2024-25 and Adani Energy Solutions CEO drew Rs 14 crore salary. Adani Power CEO SB Khayalia drew Rs 9.16 crore salary in FY25. Gautam Adani, who is worth USD 82.5 billion according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, has been jostling with Ambani for the spot of the richest person in Asia. He became the richest Asian in 2022 but lost that position after a damning report by US short-seller Hindenburg Research wiped out almost USD 150 billion of the market value of his group stock at its lowest point in 2023. He regained the top spot on two occasions last year but again ceded the position to Ambani. Ambani is ranked 17th on the world's richest list with a net worth of USD 104 billion.
