New healing headquarters AIIMS Jodhpur
The remarkable rise of AIIMS Jodhpur as a leading medical college is built upon a unique blend of classroom teaching, varied clinical experience, focus on research and close mentorship by faculty ALL INDIA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES JODHPUR No. 10 (2025) up from No. 25 (2020) On September 17, 2012, when AIIMS Jodhpur was established with 50 students, three commitments were made to ensure quality medical education. Dr Shilpi Gupta Dixit, present acting Dean (academics) and professor (anatomy), recalls them clearly. 'Patient care, research and public health were three unique aspects that AIIMS Jodhpur chose to focus upon,' she says. 'We had AIIMS Delhi as our model and mentor. It was our vision statement to be as good, or next as good as them,' she adds. That aim seems to have been realised. Indeed, for many, AIIMS Jodhpur is the second preference after AIIMS Delhi. 'I am sure I won't make it to AIIMS Delhi…. I have been targeting a seat at AIIMS Jodhpur throughout. It is as good and is part of a safer city,' says Payal Varma, 17, who sat for the NEET UG exams this year. In 2020, the faculty here contributed 409 research papers; this year, it has been 3,869. 'We are the first for research amongst the new AIIMS,' says Dr Goverdhan Dutt Puri, executive director, AIIMS Jodhpur. Infrastructure, too, has improved, with OTs at the hospital increasing from 16 to 32 in five years, beds from 728 to 960, ICUs from 19 to 134, junior residents from 328 to 476, senior residents from 145 to 398 in the same time period. Unsurprisingly, the college is the most improved in India Today-MDRA medical rankings. 'We have a close mentorship programme where a faculty member and a student are paired and there is always someone to guide and support them through the years,' says Dr Dixit. A self-directed and problem-based learning approach unique to AIIMS Jodhpur is applied in two ways—horizontal learning (characterised by a broad collection of knowledge, and focusing on connecting disciplines), and vertical learning (which deals with subjects with depth and applies scientific concepts to clinical practice from early on). With 1.3 to 1.4 million OPD patients every year, students say there is a wealth of opportunity to learn about patients and diseases. The institute connects to communities in Rajasthan through two unique endeavours. First is the two-year school of public health. Started in 2017, it aims to impart training through problem-solving exercises, observerships in public health organisations and case studies. Second, the institute is recognised as a 'Centre of Excellence for Tribal Health' by the Union ministry of tribal affairs and a unique centre was conceptualised to address the health needs of tribals. It is precisely this unique blend of classroom teaching, diverse clinical exposure, inter-disciplinary learnings as well as mentorship by faculty that makes AIIMS Jodhpur a desirable choice now for many an aspiring medical student.

City cops book another in NEET 2020 dummy racket
Jaipur: City police made further progress in their investigation into the NEET-UG 2020 dummy candidate racket and booked another suspect, identified as Ashok Saini, for alleged involvement in the exam fraud. Deputy commissioner of police (west) Amit Kumar stated that Ashok Saini was a close associate of Ayurveda practitioner Subhash Saini, who has already been arrested in the case. Kumar said digital evidence recovered during the probe established Ashok's active role in the racket. "He worked in close coordination with Subhash and was instrumental in arranging dummy candidates for the NEET exam," Kumar said. Police had earlier arrested three individuals: Sachin Gaura (22), a student at AIIMS Jodhpur; Ajit Gaura (30), a student at a medical college in Bharatpur; and Subhash Saini (33), an Ayurveda practitioner. Investigations revealed that Ajit Gaura appeared in the NEET-UG 2020 exam impersonating Sachin Gaura. Sachin allegedly paid a significant amount of money to Subhash Saini to secure a dummy candidate for the exam. Subhash, in turn, enlisted the help of Ashok Saini to carry out the task. Police sources said Ashok had prior experience in facilitating such fraudulent activities. Ashok's role, though previously under the radar, came to light during the interrogation of Subhash, who disclosed their collaboration in arranging dummy candidates.

Cops to expand probe after after AIIMS student's arrest
Jaipur: City police Sunday said they are investigating the possibility of a larger exam cheating racket following the arrest of a final-year MBBS student from AIIMS Jodhpur, a medical intern, and an ayurvedic practitioner in connection with the NEET-UG 2020 impersonation case. The accused include Sachin Gaura (22), a student of AIIMS Jodhpur, Ajit Gaura (30), a medical intern at a govt college in Bharatpur, and Subhash Saini (33), an ayurvedic practitioner who has a prior record of cheating and impersonation-related offences. They were arrested on June 6. Police said Sachin allegedly paid Rs 60 lakh to Saini to facilitate the scheme, which helped him bypass the competitive entrance process and secure admission at AIIMS. The admit card for the NEET UG 2020 exam carried Ajit's photograph instead of Sachin's, allowing another individual, likely Ajit, to appear for the exam on his behalf. Sachin went on to secure 667 marks, helping him to take admission with an All-India Rank of 1,443. DCP (West) Amit Kumar said the role of Saini is central to the case and that his network of accomplices is currently being tracked. "We want to ascertain whether there are others who aided Saini and if this group was involved in similar impersonation cases in the past," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Casablanca: Beautiful New Senior Apartments with Two Bedrooms Senior Apartments | Search Ads Search Now Undo He was accused of charging large sums of money to guarantee NEET clearance, although the exam was eventually cancelled. NEET fraud: Police investigate role of Ayurveda practitioner
1 2 Jaipur: Police here are investigating the role of Subhash Saini, an Ayurveda practitioner who was posted as a community health officer in Kuchaman city of Nagaur district, for his suspected involvement in a NEET exam impersonation racket. According to police, Saini is believed to be a key link in a network that arranged dummy candidates for the national-level medical entrance exam. Saini, previously arrested in a 2013 case involving NEET fraud worth Rs 65 lakh, is no stranger to such allegations. In that instance, he was accused of charging large sums of money to guarantee NEET clearance, although the exam was eventually cancelled. Six people were arrested at the time following a complaint lodged at Chomu police station. He was also booked in 2021 by Arain Police in Ajmer along with his brother Dr Ashok for cheating. The case came to light after police arrested three individuals Friday, including Saini, a final-year MBBS student from AIIMS Jodhpur, and a medical intern from Bharatpur. The two others were identified as Sachin Gaura, 22, and Ajit Gaura, 30. All three are residents of Chomu. Jaipur DCP (West) Amit Kumar said Sachin allegedly paid Rs 60 lakh to Saini to facilitate the impersonation. The scheme allowed Sachin to use Ajit's photograph on his NEET-UG 2020 admit card, enabling someone else—possibly Ajit—to take the exam in his place. Sachin secured 667 marks and a rank of 1,443, enough to gain admission to AIIMS Jodhpur. Ajit cleared NEET in 2019 after eight years of preparation. While Ajit and Sachin were remanded by court to police custody until June 13, Santosh Saini was sent to custody till June 10. Police say they are also investigating other individuals from Chomu who may be part of the gang and have requested records from the National Testing Agency, AIIMS Jodhpur, and Shri Jagannath Pahadia Medical College in Bharatpur.
