Cath lab and treadmill test machine installed at AIIMS Mangalagiri

A seventh-generation Azurion Biplane Cath Lab system, an interventional imaging platform that will significantly enhance cardiac care, neurovascular interventions, and complex endovascular procedures, was installed at AIIMS, Mangalagiri, on Saturday. The system is known for offering unparalleled image clarity, real-time 3D navigation, and advanced software integration, all while reducing radiation exposure. According to a release from the hospital, the new system, installed at a cost of ₹11 crore, reduces the need for patients to travel long distances for high-end cardiac and neurovascular procedures. Executive Director, AIIMS Mangalagiri, Ahanthem Santa Singh said that the advanced system positions the institution at the forefront of cardiovascular care. It allows them to offer world-class diagnostic and interventional services while improving safety, accuracy, and outcomes for our patients, Dr. Singh added. The institute also installed a Treadmill Test (TMT) machine in its cardiology department. This non-invasive diagnostic tool plays a crucial role in the early detection of coronary artery disease (CAD) and assessment of cardiac fitness and exercise tolerance, according to the release. The TMT, also known as a stress test or exercise ECG, allows cardiologists to evaluate the heart's performance under physical stress, aiding in the timely diagnosis and management of ischemic heart disease, rhythm disorders, and exercise-induced symptoms.

Dean's son among 15 AIIMS Mangalagiri students suspended for ragging

Vijayawada: Fifteen students, including the son of the dean (academics) of AIIMS Mangalagiri, were suspended following allegations of ragging a first year MBBS student. The AIIMS management suspended the students on June 24 after the victim formally lodged a complaint via email on June 23. The incident, however, came to light on Tuesday. According to AIIMS sources, the suspended students allegedly ragged a junior student at the main UG hostel building on the college premises on June 22. The accused belonged to different academic groups, including some PG students. "After the incident, the victim inflicted a minor cut on his hand. He was admitted to the college hospital on June 23 and discharged within an hour after receiving treatment," said M Neha from the AIIMS media cell and protocol division. She added that upon receiving a complaint from the victim, the college management informed local police. The dean (academics) and college anti-ragging committee chairman Dr Srimanta Kumar Dash stepped down as the anti-ragging committee head to "ensure a fair and transparent probe into the alleged ragging episode," Neha said, adding that Dr Dash was replaced by an assistant professor as the anti-ragging committee chairman. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The committee consists of representatives from students and parents' council, along with a local police representative, who are currently probing the incident. AIIMS Mangalagiri to get cornea transplant centre soon

GUNTUR: In a major step towards strengthening eye care services in Andhra Pradesh, a Cornea Transplant Centre is set to be established at AIIMS Mangalagiri. The initiative, driven by Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, is expected to benefit patients across Guntur and nearby districts suffering from corneal blindness and other vision-related ailments. The development follows the Minister's visit to AIIMS Mangalagiri on February 28, where he reviewed hospital operations and identified key gaps in infrastructure and staffing. Based on discussions with medical officers, he recognised the urgent need for a specialised cornea transplant facility. As the establishment of such a centre falls under the purview of the state government, Dr. Pemmasani escalated the issue to the district medical and health officer. A committee from the State Health Department later conducted a site inspection and submitted a favourable report recommending the centre. Thanks to persistent follow-up and coordination with state health authorities, the proposal received formal approval. With clearances now granted, the Cornea Transplant Centre is expected to become operational soon, offering advanced eye care and transplant services to thousands in the region.
