Primary teachers' federation to launch nationwide agitation
Patna: All India Primary Teachers' Federation (AIPTF) on Tuesday announced to hold a nationwide protest to press for their various demands soon. "An agitation programme will be launched across the nation very soon. The specific dates and detailed plan of action will be announced shortly," said Sushil Kumar Pandey, national president of AIPTF, in a press conference. The federation outlined a set of seven major demands, including immediate reinstatement of the old pension scheme and removal of all "anti-education" and "anti-teacher" provisions from the National Education Policy 2020. Additionally, the AIPTF is advocating for universal extension of the benefits of the seventh pay commission to all teachers, without any exceptions, besides demanding a uniform retirement age of 62 years for all teachers. With a specific focus on Bihar, the association insisted that dependents of deceased teachers be appointed to teaching positions on compassionate grounds. They also called for an end to the practice of appointing teachers on low and inadequate wages, besides seeking service continuity benefits and time-bound promotions for teachers appointed by the local bodies.
