Oussama El Azzouzi Set to Join Auxerre on Loan from Bologna

Moroccan international Oussama El Azzouzi is expected to join AJ Auxerre on loan from Bologna, with the move likely to be confirmed in the coming days. The 24-year-old midfielder will arrive on a season-long loan without an option to buy, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. El Azzouzi endured a difficult 2024–25 campaign, featuring for just 25 minutes in Serie A due to a serious knee injury. He joined Bologna from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023 but made only three league appearances during his time in Italy. Capable of playing as a defensive midfielder or centre-back, El Azzouzi was part of Morocco's Olympic squad last summer and has recently broken into the senior national team. His move to Ligue 1 is seen as an opportunity to regain match fitness and secure a place in Walid Regragui's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Morocco from 21 December. Auxerre, who are looking to consolidate their place in Ligue 1, have been active in the transfer market and view El Azzouzi as a low-risk, high-reward addition to their midfield and defensive options. While the loan comes without a long-term commitment, it offers the player a chance to relaunch his career ahead of a busy international calendar that also includes qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Auxerre open talks to sign Bologna's Oussama El Azzouzi

AJ Auxerre have opened talks to sign Bologna midfielder Oussama El Azzouzi (24), according to a report from Fabrizio Romano. El Azzouzi, who was born in the Netherlands but now represents the Morocco national team, joined Bologna for a fee of just over €2m back in 2023. In his first season, he made 20 appearances in all competitions, including 18 appearances in Serie A. In that time, he netted two goals and registered two assists. Advertisement However, El Azzouzi featured much less prominently last season, making just three appearances in all competitions, accumulating a mere 25 minutes of playing time. His absence was due to a knee injury suffered at the start of the campaign. Despite returning at the turn of the year, he could not force his way back into the Bologna side. Auxerre are now in talks to bring the defensive midfielder to Ligue 1 ahead of next season. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Auxerre confident of landing Strasbourg's Marvin Senaya

According to a report from L'Équipe, AJ Auxerre are confident that they will be able to secure the signing of RC Strasbourg Alsace right-back Marvin Senaya (24) and believe that a deal will be quickly finalised for the defender. Senaya spent the latter half of the 2024/25 season on loan with Swiss club FC Lausanne-Sport after he struggled to hold down a place in Liam Rosenior's squad, making only 12 appearances across all competitions. Advertisement His time in Switzerland showed some promise, and he had carved out a starting role in the squad, but an ankle injury quickly curtailed his season. In total, Senaya made only nine appearances for Lausanne-Sport before the end of the campaign. The Swiss team had no option to purchase the defender, and with his loan coming to an end, the Strasbourg academy product will be returning to his parent club, where he has a contract until 2027 but seemingly no future. Rudy Matondo signs professional contract with Auxerre

AJ Auxerre have officially announced that Rudy Matondo (17) has signed his first professional contract, which will keep him at his training club until 2028. The midfielder made his debut with Auxerre this past season as a substitute in the 1-0 victory over Stade Rennais on the 6th of April. He then went on to appear in four other fixtures for Les Ajaistes, as the newly promoted club secured an 11th place in Ligue 1. Securing Matondo's long-term future was a key priority for the club, with the teenager impressing during a run to the UEFA European Under-17 Championship final with France during the off-season, where the nation was defeated 3-0 by Portugal. Matondo scored and assisted against Belgium in the semi-finals (3-2). Advertisement Auxerre have been working towards tying down their young players to professional contracts, with Matondo making it five academy products that have been provided their first contracts since the season ended: Ryan Rodin, Louis Mezerette, Tidiane Devernois, and Elikya Legros.
