Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach, the No. 1-ranked player on the American Junior Golf Association Polo Rankings, has verbally committed to play college golf at Florida State. first reported the news and the Times-Union confirmed it with Russell's father Joe. Advertisement Russell, who is home-schooled, has a 2027 graduation year listed by the AJGA. That means he could begin playing for FSU in the fall of 2027 if he signs with the Seminoles during the fall sports signing period in 2026. Russell has won numerous major junior tournaments, including the Junior PGA, the Junior Players Championship, the AJGA Tournament of Champions and the Sage Valley Invitational. He broke Tiger Woods' record as the youngest player to be named the AJGA Player of the Year in 2023. Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach will play college golf at Florida State. Top-ranked junior Miles Russell commits to Florida State
One of the most highly regarded NCAA men's golf recruits in years has made his decision. Miles Russell, the top-ranked junior in both the Class of 2027 and overall according to both the AJGA and Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings, announced his verbal commitment to Florida State on Monday evening. Russell, a 16-year-old from Jacksonville Beach, Florida, was believed to value staying close to home and was also giving serious consideration to the Seminoles' instate rival Florida Gators. It's unknown how many years Russell will stay in college before turning professional, though he's already got name, image and likeness deals with TaylorMade and Nike, among others. He's one of the most accomplished junior players in recent history, having already won three AJGA invitationals, the 2023 Boys Junior PGA, 2025 Junior Invitational at Sage Valley and even last winter's South Beach International Amateur, a top amateur event. He recently was runner-up at another big-time amateur tournament, the Northeast Amateur, and at No. 16 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, he is in line to become the youngest competitor in Walker Cup history later this year at Cypress Point, assuming he makes the 10-man U.S. squad. Last year, Russell also made history by becoming the youngest player to make a Korn Ferry Tour cut, and his T-20 finish at the Lecom Suncoast Classic made him the youngest since at least 1983 to post a top-25 on either the PGA Tour or KFT.

North Palm Beach's Wylie Inman continues hot streak with win at Jordan Spieth Championship
North Palm Beach's Wylie Inman can add another win to his decorated 2025 junior golf campaign. Inman, a rising senior at Dwyer High School, continued his summer momentum with a win at the Under Armour Jordan Spieth Championship on June 26 at Brookhaven Country Club's Masters Course in Dallas, Texas. Advertisement He shot 8-under for the tournament to finish two shots clear in a field of 52 golfers from the United States as well as Mexico, China, Taiwan and Spain. Inman carded 12 birdies and four bogeys across the three-day tournament. Inman's victory comes one week after earning an automatic bid to the 2025 U.S. Junior Open in a qualifier at the Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs. He and Tiger Woods' son Charlie, who earned the final bid in a three-way playoff, were the only automatic qualifiers from Palm Beach County at the event, taking two of five spots available to a field of 87 contestants.
