Atlanta Falcons' star AJ Terrell spends day at Morehouse
On July 3, CAMP HBCYouth, an Atlanta-based nonprofit, made a lasting impact by hosting its annual "Field Day" at Morehouse College. Sponsored by the AJ Terrell Foundation in partnership with Amazon Access, the event brought together campers for a day of fun, learning, and community building. The day featured Atlanta Falcons star AJ Terrell, who spent time on the field with the kids, leading games and sharing words of encouragement. His presence energized the campers, who enjoyed a full schedule of outdoor activities designed to inspire teamwork, confidence, and leadership. Founded by Atlanta entrepreneurs Brian "BWrightous" Wright and Reagan Fresnel, CAMP HBCYouth provides an educational summer day camp rooted in the rich principles and cultural legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The camp delivers a unique blend of academic enrichment, leadership development, group projects, arts & crafts, physical fitness, and music, along with a summer food program that supports campers and their families. This year's camp also included contributions from several HBCUs, offering the students authentic exposure to higher education environments. Participating universities included: Clark Atlanta UniversitySpelman CollegeMorehouse CollegeTennessee State University These partnerships gave campers a direct connection to the vibrant traditions and academic pathways that HBCUs provide. Building on the success of last year's collaboration, the 2025 camp season continued to offer valuable access to Amazon Access programs. The Falcons signed Floyd to a one-year, $10 million contract back in March, so the Falcons would have a veteran on the defense knowing they would go defense-heavy in the draft. He was the 9th overall pick in 2016 by Chicago and has had a solid career but is now entering his age 32-33 season. Terrell, who all have been vocal leaders of defenses, including the Falcons. This season will be very different as many starters will be rookies or second year players. Floyd can be a voice to players like Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr., who like Floyd are first round picks. Floyd also has that super bowl experience that the Falcons needed on defense. Advertisement Floyd has career stats of 412 tackles, 66.5 sacks, 2 interceptions and 2 defensive touchdowns. A career journeyman, as someone who has been a leader on multiple teams, now joins a franchise who needs a veteran defensive leader more than anything. The Falcons will now have a veteran leader in the linebacker position. Many veterans that sign one-year deals are more or less rentals on a team, but in the case of Floyd he could resign if all goes well with him and the young stars. Falcons restructure the contracts of AJ Terrell, Chris Lindstrom
The Falcons have restructured two more contracts. The moves will save them a combined $20 million in cap space. The team converted $12.5 million of salary into a bonus for safety AJ Terrell, saving $10 million. Offensive guard Chris Lindstrom also had $12.5 million of his salary converted into a bonus, reducing his cap number by $10 million. Terrell is entering his sixth season, totaling 313 tackles, six interceptions and 49 passes defensed. Lindstrom has started 88 games in six seasons and made three Pro Bowls. The Falcons earlier signed left tackle Jake Matthews to a two-year contract extension, freeing up $8.5 million. The Falcons now have $12 million of cap space.
