Natasha Cloud claps back at Donald Trump over Zohran Mamdani comments in bold rebuttal
President launched a fiery tirade this week, taking aim at New York mayoral candidate with a string of insults that lit up political discourse across the country. He labeled Mamdani a '100% Communist Lunatic' attacking his appearance and voice. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Trump's rant drew swift condemnation, including a sharp and passionate response from WNBA star Natasha Cloud. The New York Liberty star didn't hold anything back as she defended Mamdani and called out the broader implications of Trump's comments. Natasha Cloud fires back at Donald Trump's Mamdani rant with powerful defense of progressive values Speaking after the New York Liberty practice session, Natasha Cloud addressed Trump's remarks head-on, calling his comments both dangerous and telling of something bigger unfolding. 'It's reckless of our president. It's reckless of this administration, but it's also exciting for us as the people,' Cloud said. 'That's when you know we're getting to them. That's when you know we're creating change that they don't want. That's when you know we're dismantling the system. And so for all of us in New York, I'm just gonna ask that we continue to be on the right path to history." Cloud also pushed back against how his identity is being used to discredit him. 'He gets the worst PR because he's a Muslim, he's a socialist, and he's a democrat,' she said. 'But he believes that it is the government's right to take care and make sure that all its constituents live a dignified life, regardless of who you are, what your religious affiliation or background is. I think that's beautiful." Trump's attacks, made on Truth Social and in front of reporters, went far beyond policy critiques. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He mocked Mamdani's intelligence, look, and speaking voice, saying, 'He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he's not very smart.' The former president even invoked the 'AOC+3' label and sarcastically suggested Mamdani be part of a future all-communist Democratic cabinet. 'Our Country is really SCREWED!' he wrote, per the New York Post. In another exchange, Trump threatened legal action if Mamdani refuses to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. 'Well, then we'll have to arrest him,' Trump said. 'We don't need a communist in this country… we send him money, we send him all the things that he needs to run a government.' Also Read: The back-and-forth has drawn intense media coverage, but Cloud's response has struck a chord with many. Of course, Cloud does not shy away from expressing her true feelings on political matters, as Cloud previously criticized Donald Trump over Iran airstrikes.

'If he does get in..': Donald Trump warns Zohran Mamdani, says he didn't know who he is
Donald Trump threatens that if Mamdani becomes NYC mayor and doesn't do the right thing, NYC will get no money. President Donald Trump reiterated his shock at Socialist Zohran Mamdani winning the Democratic primary for the NYC mayoral election, as he had earlier, but this time it came with a threat of not giving any money to NYC. Speaking on Fox Sunday morning, Trump said Mamdani is a communist and he openly admits it. "He's a communist and I think it's very bad for New York. I don't know if he's going to get in but he's a pure communist and I think he admits it," he said. "I can't imagine it, but let's say this: If he does get it, I am going to be president, and he's going to have to do the right thing. Or they are not getting any money," Trump said. — RapidResponse47 (@RapidResponse47) "I used to say that we would never have a Socialist in this country but we have a communist. I was very surprised. I never heard of him. I don't know who he is," Trump said adding that Mamdani is a left, liberal, lunatic. After Mamdani's apparent victory, after Andrew Cuomo conceded the election, Trump made his first comment about Mamdani on his Truth Social, where he said Democrats have crossed the line in choosing Mamdani. "Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We've had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous. he looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he's not very smart, he's got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin' Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him. Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!" Trump posted. Mamdani reacted to Trump's criticism and said: 'You know, this is not the first time that President Trump is going to comment on myself, and I encourage him — just like I encourage every New Yorker — to learn about my actual policies to make the city affordable." 'If he continues to focus on persecuting political enemies and on trying to detain and disappear New Yorkers, be it on the basis of their documentation or their sexual orientation or their politics, that is someone that I will fight time and again,' Mamdani told ABC.

Trump calls New York's mayoral primary Zohran Mamdani "communist lunatic"
US President Donald Trump launched a blistering attack on New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and several progressive Democrats in a pair of Truth Social posts on Thursday, calling Mamdani a '100% Communist Lunatic' and accusing the Democratic Party of pushing the country toward ruin. 'It's finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line,' Trump wrote. 'Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor.' He continued with personal jabs, calling Mamdani's voice 'grating' and questioning his intelligence, while mocking his support from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her allies, whom Trump referred to as 'AOC+3, Dummies ALL.' Trump also took aim at Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, sarcastically calling him 'our Great Palestinian Senator' and accusing him of 'groveling' to Mamdani. In a follow-up post, Trump mocked the Democratic Party's future, proposing a satirical 'dream team' of left-wing politicians. 'The Democrats should nominate Low IQ Candidate, Jasmine Crockett, for President, and AOC+3 should be, respectively, Vice President, and three High Level Members of the Cabinet,' he wrote. 'Added together with our future Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, and our Country is really SCREWED!' Trump's posts came in the wake of a major political upset in New York City, where Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist and current State Assemblyman, defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic mayoral primary. The victory, which has not yet been officially certified due to ranked-choice voting, shocked the city's political establishment and marked a historic breakthrough for the progressive left. Mamdani, who is poised to become the city's first Muslim and Indian American mayor if elected in November, ran a grassroots campaign focused on bold economic reforms and vocal support for the Palestinian cause—positions that set him apart from the party's centrist figures. His campaign was backed by prominent progressives including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders.

From Trump to Kangana, why no one likes Zohran Mamdani, the NYC mayoral candidate
Zohran Mamdani, 33, a self-described Indian-origin socialist born in Uganda, is the son of Indian filmmaker Mira Nair. Many have described Mamdani's victory in New York City's Democratic primary as a political earthquake. If elected, he would be New York's first Muslim and Indian-American mayor. So why is everyone from US President Donald Trump to actress Kangana Ranaut training their guns at Mamdani? read more If elected, Zohran Mamdani would be New York City's first Muslim and Indian-American mayor. File image/Reuters Zohran Mamdani on Wednesday claimed victory in the Democratic primary for New York Mayor. Mamdani, 33, a self-described socialist born in Uganda, is the son of Indian filmmaker Mira Nair. Many have described Mamdani's victory in New York City's Democratic primary as a political earthquake. If elected, he would be New York's first Muslim and Indian-American mayor. Yet, everyone from Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi to US President Donald Trump is training their guns at Mamdani. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD But what are people saying? And why is Mamdani such a divisive figure? Let's take a closer look What are people saying? Trump took to social media to slam Mamdani's victory. 'It's finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We've had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous,' Trump wrote. 'He's not very smart, he's got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin' Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him," Trump added. 'With our future Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani…our Country is really screwed.' US President Donald Trump slammed Zohran Mamdani as a 'communist lunatic'. Reuters Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi added his voice to the criticism. 'When Zohran Mamdani opens his mouth, Pakistan's PR team takes the day off. India doesn't need enemies with 'allies' like him shouting fiction from New York,' Singhvi wrote on social media. Never to be left out of the discourse, actress Kangana Ranaut too threw in her take. 'His mother is Mira Nair, one of our best filmmakers, Padmashri , a beloved and celebrated daughter born and raised in great Bharat based in Newyork, she married Mehmood Mamdani ( Gujarati origin) a celebrated author, and obviously son is named Zohran, he sounds more Pakistani than Indian,' Ranaut wrote. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'Whatever happened to his Hindu identity or bloodline, and now he is ready to wipe out Hinduism, wow!! It's the same story everywhere. On a different note met Mira ji on a couple of occasions. Congratulations to the parents'. Why is Mamdani such a divisive figure? Many people are worried about what it could mean if Mamdani – an unapologetic socialist, populist and progressive – becomes the Mayor of New York. Mamdani has campaigned on freezing the rent, making housing, healthcare and food more affordable, free childcare, raising the taxes on the wealthy and raising the minimum wage to $30 by 2030. These policies are completely opposed to those what the right and far-right believe is good for America. However, his views have also left centrist Democrats, liberals and others in the party kowtowing to big business, billionaires and Wall Street also alarmed. Which is why bunch of heavy hitters within the Democratic Party, from James Clyburn to former president Bill Clinton, came out against Mamdani – to no avail. Mamdani's win shows that many of these heavyweights of the Democratic Party are completely out of touch with their base in the Trump era and that their influence and relevance is fading fast. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Mamdani's views on Israel – whom he has accused of committing a 'genocide' in Gaza – his support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement does not sit well with many Republicans and some Democrats. Zohran Mamdani is a fierce critic of the way Israel has conducted the Gaza war. Reuters Thus far, many lawmakers and leaders in the Democratic Party and Republican Party have been trying to outdo each other when it comes to who can be a bigger supporter of Israel and its conduct during the Gaza war. Though many figures in the middle and the right tried to paint Mamdani as anti-Semitic for his views on Israel and Gaza, it seems voters in the Democratic primary in New York – which incidentally is home to a huge Jewish population – thought otherwise. Mamdani's remarks on 'globalising the intifada' on a podcast did not go down well, with many accusing him of trying to foment violence against Muslims. It must be noted that Mamdani has repeatedly said that violence has no place in civil discourse and condemned anti-Semitism. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Mamdani is also a staunch supporter of LGBTQ rights and gender-affirming care – which again puts him at odds with Republicans some in his own party who have tried to run away from the issue in order to win the so-called moderate and swing voters over from Republicans. The Republicans and Trump himself are also alarmed at what it could mean if a charismatic young politician were to emerge – as Barack Obama did in 2008 – that could recreate his coalition. Trump privately has already singled out Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) as one to watch for the future as a presidential candidate. Some leaders also accused Mamdani of 'communal and anti-Hindu rhetoric' and trying to pit Hindus and Muslims against each other. He has also been accused of being a 'Modi hater'. 'This is someone who we should view in the same manner that we do Benjamin Netanyahu. This is a war criminal,' Mamdani said at a rally in in May 2025. Trump rips into 'communist lunatic' Zohran Mamdani following stunning win in NYC mayoral primary
US President Donald Trump has erupted in a blistering tirade against Zohran Mamdani, following his shock win in the race for the Democrat party's nomination for New York mayor. 'Democrats have crossed the line by elevating a 100% Communist Lunatic,' the US president declared in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. 'We've had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous,' he continued, expressing outrage at the rising influence of left-wing figures within the Democratic Party. Trump, never one to shy away from personal insults, went further – turning his fire on Mamdani's physical appearance and public speaking style. 'He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he's not very smart, he's got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin' Chuck Schumer, is grovelling over him,' Trump wrote. 'Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!' The 'AOC+3' label is a nod to the group of progressive congressional lawmakers often referred to as 'The Squad', which includes Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib – all frequent targets of Trump's ire. In a follow-up post laced with sarcasm, Trump proposed a 'dream team' of left-wing figures to lead the Democratic Party. 'The Democrats should nominate Low IQ Candidate, [Congresswoman] Jasmine Crockett, for President, and AOC+3 should be, respectively, Vice President, and three High Level Members of the Cabinet – Added together with our future Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, and our Country is really SCREWED!' he wrote. The broadside came in the wake of Mamdani's surprise primary victory on Tuesday night, which secures him the Democratic ticket heading into November's mayoral election in a city where Democrats dominate. The 32-year-old progressive pulled off a significant upset by defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who conceded after falling short by approximately 70,000 votes. Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer – whom Trump mocked in his post – struck a different tone, taking to social media to praise Mamdani's campaign. 'He ran an impressive campaign that connected with New Yorkers about affordability, fairness, & opportunity,' Schumer posted on X. 'I called Zohran Mamdani to congratulate him and look forward to meeting with him soon.' However, reactions within the Democrat ranks were far from united. Long Island Congressman Tom Suozzi, a moderate Democrat, voiced his continuing scepticism about Mamdani's platform. 'I had serious concerns about Assemblyman Mamdani before yesterday, and that is one of the reasons I endorsed his opponent,' he wrote. 'Those concerns remain.' Rep. Laura Gillen, another Democrat from Long Island, was more forthright in her condemnation. 'His entire campaign has been built on unachievable promises and higher taxes, which is the last thing New York needs,' she stated. Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist and vocal critic of American foreign policy in the Middle East, has drawn both admiration from progressives and intense criticism from centrists and conservatives alike.
