CM to lay foundation for largest masjid in Karnataka during Ullal Uroos

, will be held from April 24 to May 18 under the guidance of Khazi Sultanul Ulama Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar.
As part of the Uroos, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation for Sayyid Madani Grand Masjid at the Dargah premises on May 16. The masjid, to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore, will be the biggest one in Karnataka once it is completed, said

Haneef Haji mentioned that the existing masjid stood for 75 years and regularly experiences space constraints during prayer times. The Grand Masjid will have the capacity to hold 10,000 worshippers simultaneously for prayers. The construction plans incorporate traditional Indian architectural elements, with design experts from Kerala and Karnataka collaborating on the project. He added that the construction will be completed within three years.

The Uroos event, to be held under the guidance of AP Aboobacker Musliyar, will be inaugurated by
Sayyidul Ulama
Muhammad Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal, while Sayyid Hamid Imbichikoya Thangal will offer prayers.
From April 25 to May 14, religious discourses will be conducted by prominent scholars. Nearly 25 lakh devotees from various parts of the country and abroad are expected to take part in the 25-day-long Uroos. A day and night annadanam, serving food, will be organised on May 18, and about five lakh devotees are likely to take part in it, he said.
Various educational programmes and conferences will also be held as part of the Uroos.
The Dargah has requested the KSRTC to deploy additional buses to Ullal to facilitate devotees visiting the Dargah during Uroos.
Meanwhile, officials of the NHAI promised to complete the ongoing repair work on the old bridge on NH66 across the Nethravati river at the earliest, he added.
